Hitoshi wakes up to find Aizawa laying on the couch in his sleeping bag, his head resting on Yamada's lap. They're both asleep peacefully. He smiles gently at them.
Today is the last day where Aizawa will be home. He has to go back to the dorms, and the only reason he's home right now is for Hitoshi. Now that he's settled in, he can move out and leave their son with Yamada.
When everyone gets changed, Hitoshi hugs Aizawa for a while before they go to school.
With Aizawa gone the house feels emptier, but Yamada fills the space with his energy and noise. He seems to appreciate still having company now that someone else is home, and takes this as an opportunity to bond with him. Hitoshi helps him make dinner -both because he asked him to, and to make sure he doesn't burn the building down- then Yamada helps him with his homework.
On Friday, Hitoshi is allowed to come with him to the studio and help out with his radio show. He helps choose a few songs, and they have a brief conversation before they start taking calls. There's a particularly weird call from Kaminari, which causes Hitoshi to turn his mic off for the next 5 minutes to calm down, as he doesn't want to laugh at him over air. Another call is from a young girl who hasn't developed a quirk yet. He helps offer advice, as he once knew someone with a quirkless mum and brother, and told her that a quirk doesn't matter as much as she thinks it does.
On Sunday, Hitoshi comes back to school early so he can train with Aizawa for most of the day. His class has a day off, allowing him to give up his free time for Hitoshi. The test is in a month, and they need to make sure he's as prepared as possible. Especially since 1A has work studies starting next week, and although Aizawa should have more spare time, he tells Hitoshi that something important is going on so he may be too busy for training.
They work more on his physical abilities, starting with workouts to increase strength, stamina, and speed, before moving onto hand to hand combat. Both having similar quirks, they need to rely more on their physical abilities than their quirk, as it may not always be helpful in a situation. And since the two hero course classes are strong, he can't rely on just his quirk alone.
"You're too slow. Where's your fighting spirit gone?" Aizawa pushes as he dodges every single attack, "Look at you, you're exhausted already. How do you expect to fight like this?"
Hitoshi growls, pausing momentarily to catch his breath. He hadn't slept well last night, and he feels like he might collapse as his sleep deprivation starts to catch up with him. But that can't stop him. He still has to push himself to stand a chance. If he slows down now, he'll ruin his shot.
He resumes position then tries again, watching his movements to try and see if he can tell where he'll move next. Hitoshi goes to hit him with one hand as a distraction, but brings his other fist up when he's unaware. He makes contact, and Aizawa jumps back with the ghost of a smile on his face. "Nice job"
Hitoshi smiles, but pants slightly as a thin layer of sweat covers his forehead, causing strands of purple hair to cling to his skin. His arms hurt and legs ache from the excersises and he's running the last of his energy left from sleepless nights. His sleep schedule was never a problem before, but now he's pushing himself its becoming a problem. Aizawa's face softens, "Let's take a ten minute break. You look like you're ready to pass out on the spot"
Without replying, Hitoshi gratefully collapses onto a nearby bench and leans back against the wall with his eyes shut.
Aizawa watches him and sighs gently. Maybe he is pushing him too hard, but he needs to be good at this. The two classes already know what his quirk is, and once they know about the Artificial vocal chords he has been more of a disadvantage. There are a few students that he worries about him being up against, and he has a feeling that Hitoshi would try and beat Midoriya this time. He thinks back to something he was told before by a classmate.
"Tell me, what's the freakin' point when you just lose in a fist fight anyway? Take your boring parlour tricks and go home, loser"
If Hitoshi wants to pass this test, he needs to get stronger. He's already grown since the sports festival, but class 1A and 1B have had more training. Not to mention that each student has had at least eleven years to perfect their quirk and their abilities, except maybe Midoriya. Hitoshi, as he told Aizawa, hardly used his quirk against anyone apart from the first time it manifested, and hadn't had any experience in fighting.
Hitoshi has the element of surprise for his first battle, but by the second battle the rest of the class will know how his support gear works and what he can do. So he will have to do what he did in the mock test and outsmart his opponents with the help of his teammates.
Sighing, the hero walks over to Hitoshi to find that he has quickly fallen asleep. He smiles to himself, then takes his scarf off, moving the boy to lay down on the bench, and places his scarf under his head for a pillow. It wont hurt to let him have a cat nap before moving on. He needs it. Aizawa gets on with his lack of sleep, but he gets a few hours and has naps throughout the day. Hitoshi on the other hand only seems to be getting a couple hours to no sleep a day. He makes a mental note to book him a doctors appointment to sort his possible insomnia out. You can't be a hero if you fall asleep in battle.

The next week feels quieter, and Hitoshi has less to do. Theres no training after school, Yamada is on patrol more often that usual, and the only company he gets is the cats or his classmates.
While home alone on the wednesday, Hitoshi gets an overdue phone call from his sister.
"Toshi, hey! I'm sorry I haven't phoned you in a while, I've been so busy I haven't got the time" He ignores the pain in his chest, "I have free time now, and I wanna catch up. I was phoned by the police last week, is it true mum and dad got arrested?"
"Yeah...I finally told someone what was happening after I ran away and they immediately acted"
"Where are you now? You're not in foster care are you? Are you alright?"
"Emiko, I'm fine. I was taken in by Eraserhead and Present mic, would you belive it? They let me stay with them for a while, and they're adopting me!"
"What? Seriously? Your hero is adopting you? Toshi!"
He smiles, "yeah. It's nice to have functional and loving parents"
Theres silence from the other end, but Hitoshi imagines it's because if her smiling. "That's great. Honestly I was so worried about you." So why didn't you call earlier? "How's school? How's training?"
"They're good. It's a month until the test and then I can finally get into the hero course"
"I'm so proud of you, Toshi. Keep working hard" She sighs, "I've got to go, but keep at it! I love you!"
"Love you too"
She hangs up, leaving him to the silence of the room. He sighs putting his phone down, wiping his eyes as they start to sting. He's glad that Emiko makes an effort, but its not enough for him. It hasn't been for a long time.
On Wednesday, Hitoshi goes to the doctors to sort out his insomnia with Yamada. They give him medicine to help him sleep, and tell him to be careful about not sleeping for too long. At this point the warning doesn't affect him, but he just nods and says he will to keep Yamada happy.
He's told that he doesn't have to take them every night, but if he starts to struggle then to use them. However, Yamada tells him to use them once they get back home, as the teen once again looks ready to pass out as soon as he walks through the door. How is he still functioning like this?
Thursday, Yamada has no after school patrol, and that allows them to spend some more time together. As usual, Hitoshi helps him with dinner, then they play a board game for a while (Hitoshi won and Yamada accidentally used his quirk), before watching a film. They sit beside each other, and Hitoshi slowly starts to drift off.
The hero smiles down at him as the boy leans against him asleep. He leaves him there for a while, enjoying the moment, then carefully picks him up and carries him back to bed. Hitoshi curls up under the covers once they're pulled over him, and Yamda leans down to kiss his forehead. "Night Hitoshi"
Aizawa calls Yamada on the Friday, asking him to come down to the hospital to talk about something. He tells Hitoshi to stay at home while he goes, and leaves in a civilian outfit as it's easier. For the next few hours Hitoshi stays alone bored. He goes to bed, and lays awake for hours but he doesn't come back.
The next few days are the same, and Hitoshi starts to wonder why the two are down the hospital. Is something wrong with Aizawa? He looked fine when he saw him at school, and Yamada doesn't look sick.
He asks him about it when Yamada stays home the next day, but he just gets a smile and a weird reply "You'll see later. Let's make dinner"
He doesn't miss the fact that they made more than enough, which wouldn't be weird if there wasn't enough for two more people. Aizawa is probably one of them, but who's the other for?
A little while later, Aizawa comes in through the door looking more tired than usual, and Hitoshi grins as he gets up to greet him. He walks over but quickly stops when he sees a little girl with him. She has light blue hair and soft red eyes that sparked with curiosity and anxiety. He notices the small horn on the right of her forehead and bandages wrapped around her arms and legs, before she moves to hide behind Aizawa's leg. Hitoshi quickly pieces it together.
"Hitoshi, this Eri. Your new sister"
