He did it.
He couldn't believe he had done it!
Hitoshi stared across the students in the hero course, as Vlad announced that he had indeed passed the test. Both classes began applauding him, and he shyly brought his scarf over his mouth, smiling as his hand clenching the fabric underneath. He looked at Aizawa, who had a look of pride on his face. If it wasn't for his mentor and father, he wouldn't be here. If Aizawa hadn't seen his potential, where would he be?
The classes were dismissed, and many of the students filtered out to head to the dorms. Of course Midoriya was the one to stay behind, his green eyes wide and shimmering with excitement.
"Congratulations, Shinsou! Your gear is amazing, and your quirk is a lot better than before! Does it hurt if you use it too long? You can brainwash multiple people at a time right? But does it take more energy to do so? How does it feel?"
"Uh..." The purple haired boy looked at their teacher for help, and Aizawa swooped in to save him.
"Midoriya, you can ask questions another time. It's been a long day"
"But-" He didn't have time to finish before the pro-hero shot him a look, and he got the message. "Bye, Shinsou! I can't wait to work alongside you"
As him and his classmates headed back, Hitoshi breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank you"
"You'll need to make friends once you transfer to the hero course. Whether they're genuine friends or just people you get along with, you should have someone" Aizawa sighed and walked back towards the changing rooms with the boy, "You can go home, but get changed first"
He nodded and moved to walk inside, but was pulled back into a short hug. Before he could even return the gesture, his dad pulled away again. "I'm proud of you" he smiled before walking away, leaving Hitoshi dazed but happy. He was proud of him. His adopted dad and hero was proud of him!
_____
It was a several hours before his family came home, but when they did it was hard to miss. Yamada practically kicked the door open as he charged in, and within a few seconds had wrapped Hitoshi in a tight hug. "I'm so proud, I knew you could do it!"
"You're amazing Toshi!" Eri yelled as she ran over to join the hug, and Hitoshi grinned with a blush, "You're gonna be a hero, like Deku and Miri!"
"Thats right, Eri!" Hizashi grinned and stepped away before dramatically gesturing over to Aizawa with both hands, "We brought celebratory snacks!"
"Calm down they're just cupckaes" Aizawa sighed shifting the items in his hands, as he shut the door with his foot, then slid his boots off. He walked over and placed them on the table, "We got soba soup on the way home and some cakes. Eri chose them"
Hitoshi looked at them through the plastic lid, and smiled. Rainbow. Of course she'd choose a rainbow. "Thank you"
Hizashi collected some bowls, and helped serve up the noodle soup from the containers, as Eri chose the film. Spirited away. "I thought you didn't like this film? The witch and No face scare you"
"I'm a big girl! I'm gonna be brave like you and Zuku! I lived with a real bad man, they can't scare me anymore!" Eri grinned, and settled herself between him and Aizawa. Hitoshi smiled. Before, she hadn't even wanted to look at the cover. Now she was actually trying to watch it! Today was a big day for all of them.
They sat in silence as they ate and watched the film, just enjoying each other's company. The cats decided to join them once the bowls had been taken out, and Hizashi wasted no time opening the box of cakes after dinner. Eri found his eagerness funny.
Aizawa broke the silence after a while.
"You're far behind. Your classmates have had work experience, but you haven't" He sighed and leant back in the chair, looking at Patch. Anxiety filled his son as he began wondering what he was trying to say. Was this doubt? Was he having second thoughts? He saw Hizashi glance over in concern. It was fairly obvious from both their expressions that they were nervous, but Aizawa seemed conflicted. Before his husband could say anything, he continued.
"You can come and work with me while we sort out the tranfer to your new class. I'm an underground hero so you'll have no problems, your sleep schedule is just as bad as mine" The corner of his mouth twitched as a smile.
"Was...was that a joke?" Hitoshi asked him, and Hizashi's mood quickly perked up with a laugh.
"Shou! You admitted it!"
They all laughed at the underground hero, who just stared down at his cat with the ghost of a smile on his face. Any previous signs of concern about the work study was gone, however there was still a level of anxiety for Aizawa. He couldn't loose someone else he cared for during a work study again. Would he be able to protect Hitoshi if anything went wrong?
_______
The next week consisted of a small amount of paperwork, and long nights running through the city. Hitoshi had helped with several arrests for low level criminals, and a few vigilantes. It was actually really fun to do hero work, especially after passing the hero course test a few days before. It made him feel amazing. After years of being belittled and told he could never do good, he was finally here. In a hero course, and working alongside a pro-hero he had always looked up to. What could be better.
Condering his insomnia, Hitoshi didn't mind being up through the night, though the extra activity drained him more than laying in bed would. Still, he learnt important things about hero work and enjoyed the experience. He was even condering doing underground hero work like Eraserhead once he graduated. The darkness of nightfall would aid his quirk, as it would make it harder for a person to see him, so they would answer the disembodied voice in the dark. Usually from anger or fear. If only he was legally allowed to do so right now.
He didn't have a hero costume yet, so he settled with a black hoodie and black pants similar to Aizawa's, the light grey of the scarf being the only constrasting colour. It helped him blend in more, it was comfortable and easy to move around in. He was given a little utility belt too, that held tools that may come in handy.
As the days went on, Hitoshi could feel Aizawa's anxiety never waive. He was scared, anxious, and overly protective when they worked. Hitoshi wasn't allowed too far out of his sight, and he was made to wear a GPS distress call device on his belt incase someting went wrong. Hizashi also seemed concerned at times, but unless Aizawa came home stressed he was calm.
After 4 days of work experience, they had a more serious case to deal with.
An old abandoned warehouse surrounded by houses, where some suspicious looking criminals were coming and going with crates. The two had stumbled apon it while scowering the town, and Aizawa wanted to check it out. But he didn't want Hitoshi coming. It was too dangerous, and he couldn't risk him getting hurt.
"I can help!" His son had protested.
"No, you can't use your quirk, and we don't know how many are inside. I will not put you in harms way" Eraserhead snapped, and his scarf unraveled itself from his neck as he prepared to jump, "stay here. If I need you, I'll say so"
Hitoshi crouched at the edge of the building, keeping an eye on the warehouse as Aizawa swung down, and carefully snuck in. He sighed and waited for several minutes, before he a loud bang and some shouts from inside caught his attention. Should he do something? Aizawa told him to stay there but what if he was in trouble? As Hitoshi leapt to his feet, a sudden explosion of thick mist erupted from the warehouse, and he saw two figures running out. One was a tall, thin masculine figure, the other was his dad, hair floating up as he used his quirk.
The person being persued darted forwards to get into he alleyway between the two buildings, but Aizawa's scarf shot forwards to wrap aroud their ankles, causing them to stumble and trip over. The quarter staff in his hands fell with a loud against clang the ground. Hitoshi carefully lowered himself to the ground using his own scarf, and looked at his dad. He noticed the twisted expression on the man's face as he stared at the apprehended man, a look of anger and years of sadness all rolled into one.
As he looked at the captured man, Hitoshi couldn't help but feel like he had seen him before. The headgear he had been wearing before had tumbled off, exposing light blue wispy hair that flowed unprompted like mist around his head, and sky blue eyes that were unusually soft. Like the mysterious person in the photo. A pair of goggles identical in shape to Aizawa's hung around his neck, and Hitoshi breifly wondered how much of a coincidence it could be. But what struck him most, was the expression. It wasn't that of a villian being caught by a pro-hero.
He looked at Aizawa and offered a huge grin, his tone similar to that of an old friend, "Hey, Shou! Long time, no see"
As Hitoshi glanced back at his dad, he saw the hero's jaw clench as he moved around to cuff him.
"What? Not even a hello?" The blue haired man pouted, before turning his attention to the teen, "Who's this? Your apprentice? A sidekick? A student? The news never mentioned a partnership! I'm Cloudburst, what's your name?"
Eraserhead made a sound crossed between a snort and a grunt at the name. He successfully cuffed him before moving back around to stand beside Hitoshi, but stood almost protectively between him and the man. "Don't talk to him"
"Oh! Not a partner then..." Cloudburst tilted his head and hummed in thought, "Is this the son people have been whispering about? Streets talk, Shou, I heard you adopted a kid. Congratulations! You and Zashi must be happy. Speaking of Zashi, I never got a wedding invitation! I would've made a great best man"
"Stop" Eraserhead sighed in frustration as he tugged at the scarf, causing it to unwrap from around his ankles. Instead, they snaked up and wrapped around his waist to prevent him from running off. "Get up. You're under arrest"
"For what?"
"Vigilantism is illegal Ob- Cloudburst. You know this. Now get. Up"
The vigilante sighed in an exaggerated fasion, before moving to get on his feet. But as he did, Hitoshi was struck by a sudden wave of unease. Static filled the air, causing his hair to stand up. No. Nonono. Before he could even voice his concern, an explosion blasted the trio back. Hitoshi hit the ground hard, his head colliding with the pavement, ears ringing from the sound and faintness washing over him. Heavy footsteps echoed through the smoke, and Hitoshi was only able to see the blurry outline of boots approaching before he fell into unconsciousness.

A/N: I had this idea before THAT manga page was released, and decided not to scrap it. Yes it messes with canon, but I wanted to use this plot line. This story was leading up to this, long before they decided to do what they did to him.
Also I figure since he's a vigilante now he wouldn't go by his hero name anymore, so he chose something else. Which would be the name I chose: Cloudburst.
