Tenth day of Christmas
The lilies stood tall in the vase that Leteesha put them in. Adam stood in the window looking out at the snow falling. Adam didn't know what to get Loretta this time and he was starting to think that maybe he really wasn't winning her over.
The sounds of music filled the room and Adam turned and followed the sound. He came to a room he hadn't been in before and poked his head inside. He was surprised to see Mr. Kane playing a fiddle. What surprised him even more was Loretta and Mrs. Kane singing. They had lovely voices. And than Adam got an idea.
"Mom. Dad. I am heading into town. I have figured out the tenth gift." He said as he threw on a jacket and left the Kane's house.
----
Loretta loved singing with her parents. Sadly as she got older her parents got busier and the singing practically stopped. And then for the two years she was gone away at school she only sang in choir.
"Come we should go and visit with the Bowtrel's." Loretta's mother said
Loretta nodded her head and followed.
"Helen. So nice to see you. My son has told me that there is an opera show tonight." Mrs. Bowtrel said as she saw the two women enter the sitting room.
"Yes he told me that also. He also said that he would like us to meet him at the opera house." Helen replied, taking a seat across from the other woman.
Loretta sat silently and picked up a cup of tea that was set on the table in front of her.
The three women visited as the time came for them to get ready to go into town. Even the men dressed for the occasion.

The carriage carried the passengers to the opera house where Adam was waiting. He smiled as the people got out. Taking Loretta's hand he lead her inside followed closely by Leteesha and than her parents and his. "I have a surprise for you." Adam whispered as he lead her to their seats.
"Why bother? Haven't I made it clear I won't marry you." She whispered back.
They set next to each other with Leteesha right next to Loretta. Her parents next to Leteesha and Adam's parents next to him.
"I think you will like this surprise."he whispered back. The lights dimmed and the room grew quiet. Than a man stepped forward on the stage.
"Ladies and gentleman. Welcome." He said as he bowed to the crowed. "I have been asked to have a miss Loretta Kane come forward." He said standing straight and looking out into the crowd of people. The opera house was packed. Over two hundred people. Loretta stared at the man than she looked at Adam. "What have you done?" She whispered angrily.
"Just go up there." Was his reply.
"Miss Kane please come forward." The man on the stage said again.
Loretta sighed and looked at her mother. Her mother nodded her head and smiled. "Go." She said.
Loretta pursed her lips but rose to her feet. All eyes turned on her as she slowly made her way to the stage.
"Miss Kane."the man said to her as he took her small hand and helped her up the steps to stage.
"Miss Kane. I am told you sing." The man said.
"Yeeeesssss." Loretta said cautiously.
"Than please. Sing for us." The man said as the curtains opened revealing ten fiddlers. The fiddlers played Loretta's favourite song and soon the words flowed. She wasn't nervous anymore as all the people vanished from her sight and she sang as if she was at home.
When the song ended the crowd cheered, clapping wildly and Loretta's eyes snapped open. Her cheeks flamed red as she realized exactly what she had just done.
"That was beautiful." The man on the stage replied. The fiddlers all agreed and Loretta turned back to the crowd of people. She bowed and quickly got off the stage. She didn't go back to her seat though instead she walked out into the cold air.
"Why are you out here?" Her mothers voice asked her.
"Mother that was..."
"Amazing. You were amazing. Now come back inside and enjoy the show." Her mother said.
"Alright mother."
The two went back inside and the show went on.
