KC's POV:
I never really thought about how much other places in the nation were affected by the war. Coming to Boulder definitely opened up a new side to everything. You could definitely tell, Colorado were one of the states that were more...into communicating the issue. Once I stepped foot into Boulder, the place just gave me the shivers. I never really seen this much remnants of protesting in my life. Signs were littered on the floor and faded paint on walls and cars remained. I wondered if my father would see this, he would've stopped.
"Let me guess..,", A voice said above me. I looked up to see Garroth with a concerned look on his face. "You thinking about it?"
I nodded and he sat down on the log besides me.
"How do you feel about all of this?", I asked. "You are a part of it...I guess."
"A bit, shaken up. I never would've guess people like you would...be this passionate about it,", He said, looking ahead at the fire. Everyone was asleep in tents. I decided to stay up and think. I guess Garroth must've had the same idea... "So, what are you going to do after this?", He asked.
"What do you mean?", I asked, looking at him. The fire hit his face, highlighting his features clearly. "After this mission. Don't you guys do something after?", He asked again.
"Well...Katelyn was thinking we could rebuild a small town. Start a new society."
He smiled.
"I could see you guys doing that."
I smiled back and asked;
"What about you? Are you going back?"
He frowned, leaning back a bit combing back his hair.
"I don't think my brothers want to see me,", He sighed. "We got in a...heated argument before I left."
"Was it really that bad?", I asked.
"...I mean, I could've handled it better but...I couldn't just let you guys die out here. Besides, it's our job to save this Earth. Not you."
I nodded, understanding.
"I'm sure you guys will make up. Aphmau and Katelyn did,", I said, trying to encourage him. I smirked and said, also; "Besides, I'm sure Aph wouldn't mind you staying around. Especially, around her."
He blushed. I could see it. Or maybe because the fire was roasting him...eh.
"W-Why do you say that?", He stuttered, getting flustered.
"She told us...a little information about what happened in the library."
"I-I...oh..."
I giggled.
"She didn't mind. In fact, I think she liked it a lot."
"...really?"
"Really."
This time he smirked.
"What about you and Zane? Don't you want to go back to him?", He asked, teasing me a bit.
"W-What?"
"I see the way you two make lovey-dovey eyes at each other,", He says, shrugging. "You don't mind?", I asked, a bit shocked. "You think? I've never seen him so...happy and social before. Usually he keeps to himself,", He explains. "I think it's good for him..."
"Well...I mean, I wouldn't mind."
"Well, go at it. I'm not stopping you."
I smiled a little wider and mentally thanked him.
"I should talk to you more,", I say. "You're pretty easy to talk to."
"I'm a...what Aphmau likes to say, a 'go with a flow' kind of guy."
I laughed, seeing his confusion. He's still getting the hang of our world's new language. Well, American speaking. More around the lines of...puns or play on words.
"I can see that."
We continued to talk a bit. Not much though. We knew that we had to get up early in the morning, according to Katelyn. We didn't want to get her moody with our moods if we didn't get enough sleep. We decided to just get up and go to our respective tents. Before I went in mine, Garroth asked;
"Did you see Laurance and Travis come back? I know they were sent to get fire wood."
I smirked and shook my head. He chuckled and said goodnight as he went in Aphmau and his' tent. I went in to share with Katelyn.
"Laurance and Travis aren't back, are they?", She mumbled as I climbed in.
I giggled as a response and so did she.
"Oh boy..,", She sighed.
I crawled into my blanket and slowly drifted off to sleep.
