Chapter 36✔︎
Y/N PoV
"Babe?" Jughead must have noticed me awake. I can't sleep anymore, I can't stop the video from replaying, "N/N?"
I turn to face him, "Yeah?"
"Whats wrong?" He asks.
"My dad helped murder a boy and I lived with him for weeks after." I bite my lip, "Did they get my dad?"
He nods, "Archie texted me awhile ago. I was going to tell you in the morning."
"What about your dad? Is he still in jail?"
"He is. They won't let him leave because of the clean up job. There is one more thing," Jughead puts his hand on my cheek, "Clifford Blossom killed himself hours ago. It's the like the ultimate cliffhanger."
"What?"
"I know but whatever happens we are in this together, I promise."
I smile, "Like our dads. It would be funny to see them in the same cell, probably fighting about nonsense. They helped each other with everything. I just hate how they had to be in..whatever that video was, together."
"Me too." He gives me a small smirk, "Remember what our moms told us?"
"To stick together, and life would be easier."
I peck his lips while moving closer to him, "If only it was that easy."
"I know Y/N, I know."
My arms find their way around his waist, "You should get some sleep. I don't want to keep you up all night. Tomorrow is going to be rough."
"I'm not sleeping if you aren't."
"Well I'm not sleeping." I giggle.
"Movie then?"
I nod, "Movie."
**Time Skip**
The sheriff told me and Jughead that we need to come down to the station to discuss our dads' fate. I don't want to face my awful father but the Sheriff said I had too.
When we arrive at the station, Keller leads us to both of our dads' cell. It's small and empty except for two people. My dad looks at me, "Why'd the hell did you come here?"
"Don't yell at her! She deserves none of the crap you give her." Jughead yells.
I smile at Jughead as the Sheriff gets everything in order, "Okay so, Blossom was the kingpin, he funneled drugs through Riverdale and then shipped them out. What the Mayor and I care about is the local component of Blossom's business. Someone is selling his drugs here in Riverdale. Mostly in the Southside but it's started to cross the tracks, recently, too."
"And you think it's the Serpents?" I ask.
Keller goes through some paper work, "Who else? So here's the deal. You two feed us names, tell me who's pushing the dope, and the Mayor, the DA have a chat and maybe he'd be inclined to offer both of you a lesser sentence."
My dad shakes his head, "Serpents don't get info the hard stuff."
"It's dime bags of weed. And I'm no snitch." FP says.
"Neither am I."
"FP, D/N (your dad's name) if you don't help us and your case goes to trial, there will be no leniency. You guys'll be looking at 20 years in a federal penitentiary for your part in the cover-up of Jason Blossom's murder." Keller frowns, "I'll give you guys time to talk it out." He leaves.
The men nod their heads.
I loom at my dad in the eye, "Do me a favor and don't name names. It would make life a lot easier."
"I don't take orders from you." He gestures towards my jacket, "I saw you joined the Serpents."
"I did."
FP smiles, "Northside here is one tough girl. Didn't even need help with the snake."
My dad nods, "Your nickname sucks."
"I know!" I roll my eyes, "It's Tall Boy's fault." Somehow I feel happier than I should being around my dad. Deep deep down I think I still care for him.
My dad laughs, a good sigh, "Of course it is." His face turns sour, "Wait you did the dance?"
"Oh yeah! How'd that go?" FP questions.
I don't even know how I did, "Well, I'm a Serpent so good I guess?"
"It went great!" Jughead tells them.
My dad turns mad, "You watched my dau-...Y/N do it? I don't approve of that."
Heat builds on my skin and a blush forms. FP looks at his son, "Boy! I don't approve of you watching her either."
"It's fine, FP. He is my boyfriend after all." I say.
My dad smiles, "That I do approve of. Thank you for choosing him and not Archie. Jughead I sort of trust."
Jughead nods, "Thank you, Mr.L/N."
My blush fades away, "Don't worry..dad? Archie is my brother."
He nods, "Are the Andrews treating you well?" My dad raises his voice, "Because if they aren't you are going to go get Fred so we can have a long talk."
"They are great people. You don't need to worry about me anymore." I lean against the wall, next to Jug.
"I do still worry about you." He mutters.
I shake my head and look at the ground. Do I believe him? I know I shouldn't but there is always going to be that part of me who loves my dad.
Jughead holds my hand, "Y/N and I should get going."
FP gives his son a quiet nod. On the other hand my dad looks at me and my boyfriend, "Look after Y/N for me would you?"
"I will." Jughead gives my hand a squeeze as we leave the room and go home.
**Time Skip**
"I told her I wouldn't do it. No unless you're up there with us, Jughead and you too Y/N." Betty crosses her arms and pouts.
Jughead stuffs food into his mouth, "I appreciate the righteous indignation, Betty, I do but Jubilees aren't my thing."
"I can agree." I say happily.
Archie sets down his sandwich, "Your guy's dad? Did you get in to see him?"
Jug nods, "Here's the latest. Mayor McCoy wants our dads to name names in exchange for a lesser sentence."
"What? Whose names?" Betty asks.
"The Serpents," I roll my eyes, "Sheriff Keller thinks they're the ones dealing the drugs that Clifford Blossom brought into town."
"My dad says more and more drugs are hitting the streets." Kevin glances between us uneasily.
Jughead looks at him, "Kevin, relax, this isn't The Wire."
"Not to mention, I know zero Serpent dealers." I take a bite of my salad, "Even our dads say they're not the ones dealing."
"And meanwhile, Mayor McCoy hasn't even said the words "Clifford" or "Blossom" in public. It's all about how the Serpents are the problem, the villains!" Betty says.
"Which they aren't!" I remind her.
Betty ignores me, "This is outrageous! I'm writing an article about this, and not just for The Blue & Gold, for The Register. This is a town story."
Jug groans, "Okay, as long as the article doesn't include my dad."
"Or mine!"
"No, it is going to be about both of your dads. It doesn't matter how management Jubilees Mayor McCoy throws. This town's changed. That needs to be acknowledged. Why are people so afraid of the truth?" She is way too passionate about this.
Veronica stands up, "Speaking of the truth," Archie shakes his head at her and whispers "no" over and over, "Archie and I wanted to tell you and Y/N..."
They pause for multiple seconds, "We've kissed a couple times." Archie admits sadly.
I start to laugh, "You do know I know right? You don't need my approval. I don't care what you do."
Everyone turns towards Betty. Her expression is unreadable. Finally, she breaks out into a smile, "It's okay, V. I appreciate you being honest with me. If you guys want to be together, I'm happy for you guys."
Ronnie takes a seat, "Thanks B."
Kevin's smile can be seen from a mile away, "That means if Varchie gets married, Veronica and Y/N will be sisters! My fantasies are coming true."
"Me and Ronnie aren't dating yet. Don't jump ahead Kev." Archie says.
Kevin rolls his eyes, "Fine then we can talk about Y/N and Jughead's wedding!"
He sighs, "They aren't getting married."
Jughead looks at me with a smirk, "What if we are, Archie?"
Archie drops his fork and slowly glances up between us, "You guys are getting married? Jughead proposed?"
I can't keep my laughter in any longer. Me and Jughead laugh uncontrollably. "You thought me and Jughead would get married while in high school?"
"If I were to propose, I would ask you for permission to do so." Jughead tells him.
Archie rolls his eyes at us. We continue our conversation and lunch.
**Time Skip**
"No way! You really did that?" We all laugh at Archie as we walk into our home. Jughead stops once he sees a women at the island. The three of us go to the kitchen.
Fred sighs, "This is Ms.Weiss from Social Services. She uh, she's Jughead and Y/N's case worker."
"Jughead, Y/N, I know how terrible and emotional the last few days have been for you two. Your fathers are facing serious jail time. Jughead, your mom's over-extended and out of state. And Y/N your mom is.." the social worker takes a pause and drops the idea of my mom, "We just wanted to make sure that you're taken care of."
"Well, they can keep staying with us, right, dad?" Archie frowns once he sees Fred's gloomy expression.
"I offered already, Arch."
He furrows his eyebrows, "Great, is what's the problem?"
"It was a DUI. After your mom left. Look, we can talk about this later but between that and my cash flow problem, it knocks me out." Fred looks down disappointed in his actions.
I shake my head,"Wait no. Fred is my dad! My adoptive dad!"
"If your adoptive parent gets a DUI you have to leave. There is a family on the Southside that's offered to foster you Jughead. Unfortunately, we can't put Y/N and him under the same care do to their relationship. The Lodges have offered to foster you." She sugar coats it, I know it.
"That doesn't sound completely horrible." Jughead says.
Tears well up in my eyes, "It sounds awful. I'm not leaving my brother or dad. I love them!"
Here it comes, "I'm sorry but it's our policy. Jughead it does mean you'll be in a different school district and you'll have to transfer schools." The big blow.
"What the hell? When is all this supposed to happen?" Archie yells.
"The paperwork's been processed. Unless there is a radical change in your fathers case, you'll be on the Southside by the end of the week and Y/N you'll be at the Lodges at the end of the week as well."
I shake my head crying, "No..no! You listen to me right now, lady. I'm staying here. I'll do anything to say with them. My family isn't falling apart for the second time."
"I'm truly sorry, Y/N but that's how it has to be." The social worker smiles, "Don't forget you get to live with your.." she looks through her papers, "It says your best friend. That's not so bad."
"It is too me." I storm out of the kitchen and go to the basement, locking the door. Tears fall down my face uncontrollably. I lay down on my bed. Somebody knocks.
"Y/N?" Jughead asks, "Please open the door so we can figure this out together?"
"No!"
He knocks again, "Yes, N/N. Remember my promise last night? We are in this together."
I get out of bed and trudge up the stairs to let him in. He opens the door once I unlock it. Jughead pulls me into a hug. I put my arms around his neck and wrap my legs around his waist. "This is the worst thing to possibly happen."
"I know baby." He lets me cry into his neck as he carries me down the stairs and to my bed. "How can I make this better?"
"I'm l-leaving indefinitely so nothing." My voice cracks from crying. "What's going to h-happen to us? We are living on opposite sides of town and y-your going to another school."
He rubs his hands on my back to calm me down, it works, "If your asking if we are breaking up, that's a big no for sure. We can make it work."
"We will. What did Archie say about this?" I pull away my head from his neck.
"Obviously he hates it. So does Fred, he fought hard."
I nod, "I bet Hermione didn't tell Veronica. She would have mentioned it. I should text her." I start to leave his lap but he pulls me back down onto him.
"No. Wait until later. You haven't had any sleep and I want to cuddle."
I give him a small smile, "Let me go change into shorts and your shirt then we can cuddle as long as you want."
"Deal."
