Chapter 27✔︎
Y/N PoV
Jughead called all of us to Pops with hopes to figure out who attacked me and Moose. I took some pain medicine this morning after I woke up to a headache. Jug was concerned and told me he would drag me to the hospital if it does go away soon.
"Poor Moose and Y/N. Are you both okay?" Veronica takes a drink of her double chocolate milkshake. She has been uneasy since she heard about that night.
Jughead shakes his head, "Y/N is doing fine but I swear I'm taking you to a doctor if this gets worse." He has been holding my hand all day. Jug doesn't want those people to hurt me again. "His name is Moose. He's fine."
Archie walks in with his leather man jacket late like always, "Dude, what the hell? I've been texting you."
"Archie, Jughead just told us what happened yesterday." Betty is trying not to acknowledge my existence. She doesn't refer to me in any conversations anymore.
Veronica scrunches her noise, "Though I checked out at the words "construction" and "site""
"Moose and I are going to the Southside to find those Serpents. You guys in?" Archie is dead set on finding those thugs.
"Whoa! Hey, you didn't say it was the Serpents who beat up Moose." Betty continues on with her ignorance.
"And me." I mumble.
Jughead kisses my hand, "Cause we don't know that for a fact." He is trying to make me feel better about Betty's jerky behavior.
"Well it's still worth a shot if it might help my dad. Kevin's boyfriend can get us in."
"Get you in where?"
"To some bar where the Serpents hang out. If Moose spots then, we call Sheriff Keller and get these goons arrested." Archie takes one of my fries and eats it.
Betty tries to reason with him, "Archie, the Serpents are dangerous. They're drug-dealers."
"What?" Jughead gives her a look.
"Who says that? They aren't." I might not appreciate or support my biological dad in any way but I can't tell them the truth. It would make him seem worst to my Northside friends. They will not find out about Jug's and mine's dads also my mom.
"Polly. Remember? Trev told us about Jason dealing drugs? It was for the Serpents." And of course Miss Perfect is playing the 'My sister said' card.
Archie gets frustrated from our resistance of this idea, "You heard my dad, Y/N Jughead. Clifford Blossom is trying to torpedo him. Sheriff Keller basically blew him off, right in front of us. Somebody needs to do something!" He gets out of the booth and puts on his jacket.
"Archie, going into that bar is a bad idea." Jughead doesn't want them to find out like me.
"It's a terrible idea!" I shake my head violently.
"Jughead? Y/N? Are you coming with me or not?"
We don't say anything and continue to stare at him. And then he put his jacket on like an idiot! Going into Serpent territory with a Northside leather man jacket can get you killed.
"Thanks for having my back." He leaves the diner. Archie shoves the door open and slams it shut. He is really mad at us.
"This is why I can call him an idiot." I mutter to Jughead. We consider all the peril Archie is getting himself into.
I don't think Betty and Veronica care about the way we defended the Serpents. If we hope maybe Archie will back out of the idea and not find our dads.
Veronica makes us leave Pops because the baby shower is starting soon. She said there are a couple finishing touches we need to do. V also wants to get ready with Polly to make her feel loved. I'm not sure how that should make you feel appreciated but what do I know about clothes?
The girls change into our outfits as the guests arrive. I stand behind the couch waiting for Jughead to bring out the pastries. Veronica greets the Pussycats when they arrive. They bring a present for Polly and I'm now just realizing I forgot my present in Veronica's room.
Jughead walks out with the tower of pastries carrying them with one hand. He sets it down on the table in front of us.
I lean over and give him a kiss, "You're sweet to be here for Betty. I know this isn't exactly our scene."
He gives me a fake hurt smile, "What? Organizing a baby shower? It's totally on my bucket list."
"It's on mine too." I say sarcastically.
Alice walks in quietly trying to draw no attention to her. Betty notices, "Mom!" She walks towards the mother and daughter, "Polly, look, Mom's here!" Betty grabs the present out of her mom's hand and sets it on a table.
"I'm so glad you're here, and you're safe. You and the baby." Alice is apologizing! Our plan worked!
Polly starts to get a little emotional from her Mom's long overdue apology. "Oh mom!"
They hug and the door opens loudly, "We're here!" Cheryl calls out to the party. She pushes in a grand baby stroller smiling at us. "No big deal, it's only the best stroller money can buy." Talk about a grand entrance.
"So expensive." Polly gestures to the gift.
"All I ask in return is that you make me your baby's godmother."
The Coopers are taken back by Cheryl's demand. They don't want a Blossom in their house let alone Cheryl being the godmother. Betty clears her throat.
"Kidding!" Cheryl giggles then looks at them more serious, "So not kidding." She stands behind her grandmother's wheelchair. "Come on, Nana Rose, lets get you a good spot by the food." Cheryl wheels her to the food table.
Penelope steps forward, "Polly. Let me begin with an apology. When I first heard about the baby, my initial instinct to embrace the baby but not you was wrong. I hope you can forgive me."
Alice steps forward to no doubt start a fight but Betty holds her back, "Think happy thoughts."
Polly smiles at the lady and Penelope walks over to a couch.
Veronica's mom starts the baby shower with a couple games and food. The Coopers and Blossoms ongoing war seems like it's cooling down. Polly announces its time for presents.
I retrieve my present from Ronnie's room and set it down on the table full of presents. Jughead joins me standing behind the couch.
Polly opens a present and finds hanging thing for above the babies' crib. "Oh! Thanks guys!"
"Okay, now Mom's." Betty interrupts. She hands Polly her mother's gift happily.
She opens the present to see a night light, "It's my nightlight. When I was a little kid. How did you? Where did you even?"
"I saved it. I know how much you loved it and how it made you feel safe. And I wanted you to be able to pass it down to your own baby one day."
Hermione smiles at the great gift, "Alice, it's lovely."
"Open ours next, dear." Penelope sets down her tea and hands it to her.
Archie walks in to the party. Jug and I look at him surprised. He walks over to us, "You guys we're protecting them. That's why you didn't tell me."
"Relax. What happened?" Betty and Veronica run over to us to see what the problem is.
"Did you know that Y/N and Jughead's fathers are Serpents?" Archie is somehow madder now.
"No." Betty looks at Jughead sadly.
"That's why they tried to stop me from going to the bar, so I wouldn't find out. After everything my dad has done for you."
I sigh, "Arch, we can explain, okay?"
"But not right now! This is Polly's day, so you three need to check yourselves. I mean it." Veronica lays down the law with us, "Archie..."
"No save it! Come on." Archie gives us a dirty look and leaves the baby shower. We thought the battle ended but a new one is brewing. It's called the Blossoms.
"That is a family heirloom." Penelope tells Polly, "Great-grandfather Blossom used to play with it. Isn't it magnificent?"
"Oh, Polly, come stay with us at Thornhill!" Cheryl sounds really enthusiastic for the idea maybe a little too excited.
"Cheryl's invitation is genuine. Thornhill's gates will always be open to you. The child would want for nothing. You would want for nothing." Penelope continues on to convince her of the terrible idea.
"Do you think that you can just waltz in here, with a bedbug-infested arrogant Horse, wave a blank check around and steal my daughter?" Alice fights back.
"I didn't think you wanted her, else why would she have been exiled like some pariah." She fires back at Alice with full force. The war keeps raging on.
"To keep her away from your family." Alice gets up to face Penelope.
She stands up to challenge Alice further, "Oh and not because you're ashamed? Why is your own daughter not living with you?"
"She's not going to set foot in that twisted, poisonous house of yours."
Cheryl gets up to help her mother out, "She should be so lucky."
Betty does the same, "Cheryl, that's not helping!" Inside my head I can't stop think how that's not helping either. Betty can be so stupid sometimes and I should know it.
"She'd do a lot better there than you." Penelope says.
Alice moves forward so she is inches away from the woman in a threatening way. "How dare you."
"Enough! Both of you!" Polly stands before them to stop the battle.
"If you believe one lie" Alice starts.
"This is why Jason is died! Because of this hate. This pointless stupid fighting!" Alice reaches for her hand, "No don't touch me! We were supposed to be together. And you didn't let us have that, neither of you. And you know it cost Jason his life." Polly walks away from it.
Hermione kindly tells everybody the party is over. We don't need another fight between the families. Jughead and I left the living room to go to the kitchen to clean up the mess we made earlier. The both of us left the Cooper's to talk about the situation.
Betty tells us what happened and thanks us for coming. Stunningly she gives me a hug and actually smiles at me! Jughead takes me back home but we didn't get have time to get cozy. Betty called us and said she is walking over to come get us so we can talk to FP. There is no option tonight.
**Time Skip to the trailer**
The three of us get to the trailer and find FP drinking but not drunk luckily, "Jughead."
"Dad, Betty Cooper and you've met Y/N before. Betty this is my dad." Jughead gestures to his father.
Betty shakes FP's hand, "Hi, Mr.Jones, nice to meet you, officially."
"And you, and you. Um why don't you guys sit down?" He moves around some of the couch cushions making room.
"This isn't really a social call."
"No. I didn't expect it would after Archie showed up at the bar." He shrugs.
"We know the Serpents has some kind of drug thing going on with Jason Blossom." Jughead doesn't move from his spot.
"What? Where'd you hear that?"
"Jason's girlfriend." I cross my arms and raise my eyebrows.
Betty takes a deep breathe in, "My sister."
FP stares at the floor in thought. He knows something but doesn't want to give it up. "The kid needed some money to get away. A clean-cut kid like that, no ones gonna suspect him of running, so we helped him, he helped us."
"Jeez, dad. Did you tell the cops that?" Jughead saunters further into the room looking at some empty bottles.
"What do you think?" FP smiles at us.
"They know now Mr.Jones. Polly told them." I follow Jughead's lead and hold his hand.
"So if they haven't been by yet, they will be." Jughead turns around and looks at the messy kitchen. I follow him in case this is hurting him after his father told him he would get better.
"Did you ever talk to Jason? Personally?" Betty keeps questioning him.
FP shrugs, "My guys have him some product. When it wasn't delivered, we figured he'd took off with our stash, until..."
"Until Jason's body was found at Sweetwater river." Betty purses her lips together.
He looks back and forth at us and raises one eyebrow, "Anything else you wanna ask?"
Jughead stares at his father in the eyes, "Did you have anything to do with Jason Blossom's death?" He finally asks the million dollar question.
"You really think I could do that?"
He sighs, "It's the dark ages, dad. I don't really know what to think anymore."
FP looks hurt, "I'm not a perfect father, Jughead, no getting around that, but I'm no killer." He shakes his head.
Jughead holds my hand tighter and pulls us out of the trailer. We walk back to the car with glances back from Betty.
I stop Jughead, "Do you believe him?"
"I do." He hesitates for a second but then decides to trust his dad's words. "Do you?"
Betty barges in between us and puts her hand on his cheek. "I believe you Jughead."
Jughead takes his hand off her cheek and shakes his head, "No Betty."
She huffs, "I'll be in the car." Betty gets into the car and waits for us.
I turn back to him. "I believe him too. Whatever you need, I'm here."
Jug grabs both of my cheeks and pulls me in for a long passionate kiss. I kiss him back and smile into it.
I pull back slightly but he kisses me again. "Can we go home?" He asks in between kisses.
"Anything you want." I hold his hand and get into the front seat.
Betty is staring us down angrily. She takes us back to the Andrew's house without a word.
We get out of the car and she pulls away. Jughead walks behind me and wraps his arms around my waist once she leaves. He gives my neck some kisses.
"Jughead you know the rule."
"We are not in the basement right now and besides what Fred doesn't know can't hurt him." He bites down gently on my collar bone making my breathe hitch.
"First we are talking to Archie then I'm all yours."
Jughead pulls me inside, "Fine."
We walk to Archie's bedroom and see him playing the guitar. Jughead takes a seat on a chair and I sit on the bed. Archie stops strumming and turns around to face us.
"I should have trusted you. There's no excuse. I was afraid that the Serpents and my dad were the ones doing those messed up things. I didn't wanna believe that was true. I mean he's my dad, Archie." Jughead sighs.
"I'm sorry too Arch. I felt ashamed by my dad's wrong doings. I didn't want to believe he did those things but.." I shrug.
"I get that. I do. But, Jughead Y/N, you can talk to me about anything. Jughead your like.." he smiles and whispers quietly, "You're like my brother and Y/N your my sister."
"Nice bro-whisper, Archie." We chuckle, "You are my brother. And I'm here for you and your dad. So what can I do?"
"I'll do anything."I smile at my boys.
Archie folds his hands and leans his elbows on the chair, "Pray for a miracle."
We stare at each other happily. The air finally cleared between us. "I am loving your guys bromance but I'm going to bed." I get up from the bed.
Archie nods, "Good night guys."
"Night." Jughead smiles at him.
"Night little brother." Jughead and I leave Archie's room with the first victory of the day.
Jughead wraps his arm around my waist when we get down the narrow hallway. He gives me a wistful kisses on the underside of my jaw.
"Getting excited are we?" I smile at him.
He walks down the stairs into my room, "Yes.." Jughead closes the door and locks it so we have no unwanted interruptions. Jug kisses me passionately once the door is shut.
I kiss him back and knock the crown beanie off his soft curls. My hands run through his messy hair pulling on it.
Jughead picks me up and carries me over to my bed. He pushes me down and takes off his shirt.
I take mine off quickly and pull him down onto me. He presses me into the mattress and continues to give me sweet kisses.
Jughead kisses my neck and trails down to my collar bone sucking on it. I let out a quiet moan. He leaves small bite marks that will eventually turn red and purplish.
Somebody knocks on the door loudly.
Jughead and I stop and jump off of each other. I grab his shirt and put it on, "It must be Archie."
I open the door to find my carrot top of a brother. "I just wanted to say good night.." he tells me.
"You already said good night upstairs Arch."
"I know." Archie stutters and leans against the door frame.
"What do you-oh wait a second you were checking to make sure me and Jug weren't doing anything!" I laugh at him.
He shrugs, "Welcome to the world of having a brother."
"God Archie your such a doofus sometimes. Now good night for the final time." I close the door.
Jughead is laying under the covers when I get back. He bursts out in laughter. "Archie really is the cliche overprotective brother. I should hate him but as my brother I can't."
I groan and lie down next to him, "I know."
We settle in and talk about all the problems we have right now. Our dads. Fred's business. Betty. The war going on in Riverdale. The list can go on and on forever.
This is, in all likelihood, going to be a heartbreaking week for everybody.
