Chapter 19 ✔︎

Y/N PoV
Jughead walked me home last night and didn't stay over. He told me he was going back to his dad's. I could tell something is up with him. Jug came to my place the morning after for a breakfast at the Coopers looking a lot less suspicious. I sit here in the Cooper's household pondering this.

"So, Jughead and Y/N I suppose we have you two to thank for Betty's ongoing obsession with this Jason Blossom ghoulishness." Alice breaks my deep thoughts.

Betty puts her fork down, "Actually, Mom, I was the one who asked Y/N and Jughead to help me write it for the Blue and Gold."

Jughead and I are eating as much of the food as possible. There is no sounds from us, just forks and knives clanking against the plates.

Alice laughs at her, "Relax, Betty, I'm just making conversation."

Betty look over at Jughead and raises one eyebrow, that's the signal.

"Do you guys have a bathroom I could use?" Jughead asks Alice. He sets down his orange juice trying to act normally.

Betty gets up cheerfully, "Sure, I'll show you!"

Alice cuts her off and gets up herself, "No, no, I'll show him." She gives Betty the eye. "Follow me."

She leads Jughead over to the bathroom. I stand up immediately and go over to Alice's purse with Betty. We go through her payment book while taking picture of every page.

Alice comes back a moment after we sit back down. She makes some small talk and finishes her breakfast. Jughead comes back, "Thank you for breakfast Mrs.Cooper but we should get going."

Betty nods and leads us out of her house so Alice can't say anything more.

**Time Skip**

"The Sisters is Quiet Mercy." Betty reads from her phone. "What is that? Like a church? Or a charity?"

Jughead types the name of the place into the search bar. "No. It's a...Home for troubled youths. Where disenfranchised teens will learn such virtues as discipline and respect, enjoying life if quiet reflection and servitude."

I shake my head, "That sounds like a fun place to be."

"Poor Polly." Betty looks down at her feet, "I'm gonna go to class..." she leaves the room quickly.

**sorry for so many time skips but another one anyways!**

"It's been months! There's gotta be a reason my mom and dad don't want me to see Polly. But I don't care anymore." Betty tells us.

Archie starts to get curious, "What are you guys taking about? Anything I can help with?"

Jughead eats a couple more of his tortilla chips, "What we're attempting is a stealth operation, Archie. If we go in there with the entire Scooby Gang, forget it, we're compromised."

I chuckle to myself. We are the Sad Breakfast Club and now the Scooby Gang. That isn't half bad.

"Well don't you have to practice for the Variety Show anyways?" The table goes quiet.

Val and Archie glance over at each other sadly, "Uh no, I don't." Archie sighs and looks back at Val.

"Except that yes, you do. Thanks to a certain Veronica-ex-machina." She sits down beside Val, "Excuse me."

Val looks confused, "What do you mean?"

"Oh, nothing. Just that I had a few words with our director/host, and reminded him that he's heard you sing on numerous occasions." Veronica looks at Kevin.

Kevin starts to eat his food sulk-fully, "Even though it compromises my artistic integrity." He doesn't want Archie to sing at all apparently.

Veronica tries to stop Kevin from hurting Archie's feelings, "Cutting to the chase, you have a slot if you want it."

"Veronica thank you but you saw what happened."

Kevin speaks up, "We all did."

Jug looks over at me and motions to my food. I smile and push it over to him. He starts eating my lunch for me.

"Playing my songs in front of you guys is one thing, but getting back up on that stage by myself...I-I'm not sure if I'm ready for that." Archie shakes his head sadly.

"If it's a partner your looking for, Veronica Lodge is more than willing and able."

Val eats a fry angrily. She must not want Archie to preform either or at least preform with another girl.

"Veronica, I didn't know you could sing." Betty sounds astonished because the question is, what doesn't this girl do?

She nods, "Like a nightingale. What do you say, Archiekins? Be the Jay to my Bey"

Archie contemplates it with a smirk. They chuckle and agree to preform together.

**Sorry Time Skip...there are a lot of skipping scenes to new ones in this chapter**

The bus pulls away from us loudly. I look up at the grey and depressing building. This looks like an awful place to live.

"Hey. Don't judge a home for troubled youths by its facade, right?" Jughead aims to get us a bit happier.

Betty nods. She bites her lip and tightens her ponytail. This is her way of telling us she is ready for what is going to happen.

We walk into the Sisters of Quiet Mercy expecting some deathly ghosts but all we find is a woman sitting at the receptionist's desk.

Betty strolls over time her, "Hi. My name is Elizabeth Cooper. I'm here to see my sister Polly."

"May I see some identification?" She croaks out.

Betty pulls out her student ID and slides it over to her.

"Sign in here please. They'll have to wait."

Betty signs in and another lady leads her to this hallway. They walk out of sight.

I look around the church. It's so sad in here. No color or any kind of joyfulness anywhere in sight. This is a place for youth to get better but I don't see anyone getting better here.

Jughead grabs my hand and leads me back outside. He takes a seat on the cement steps.

I sit next to him and rest my head on Jug's shoulder. He wraps one arm around me. "I really hope Betty will be ok in there."

"Yeah me too." I say sarcastically.

"Y/N? What's wrong?"

"I just can't help but worry you will leave me for Betty. She is perfect and I'm just me. I can see the jealousy and you didn't like the idea of her going on a date with Trevor."

Jughead tilts my chin towards him, "I don't want Betty, I want you. She is my friend and nothing more. Y/N, I couldn't even imagine leaving you because your mine."

I smile for the first time that day. It's good to know he doesn't like Betty. I give him a short passionate kiss.

He returns it. "Your so beautiful Y/N."

I shake my head, "I am really not."

Jughead lifts one of his eyebrows, "Yes you are, your beautiful H/C hair. Your sparkling E/C eyes. Your sweet soft lips, god you drive me crazy."

"You drive me crazy too." I laugh and nestle my head into the croak of his neck.

Two men with doctor coats come out, "You two! Come back in now." One of them yells at us.

We stand up and they hold onto us. They take us back inside. I strive to get out of the man's grip but he just hold me tighter.

They lead us to Betty, Alice, and Polly in a spooky hallway. "Mom?" Polly looks over at her with hate in her eyes.

"Polly..."

"Jason's dead? And you didn't tell me? And you kept me in here?" Polly yells at her mother.

I try again to get out of the man's grasp to help the situation but he pins my front against the wall.

"Stop!! Let her go!" Jughead screams and attempts to help but the other man holds him back.

"Baby, it's for your own good." Alice starts to cry.

"Ugh!! You always say that. And it's not true!" Polly starts to get dragged away more of these doctors. "No! Betty!"

Betty gives her sister one last hug, "I'm gonna get your out of here, I swear to god! I love you Polly."

Polly gets pulled away from us. The men let go of us and I hug Jughead. "Are you ok?"

He holds me against his body, "Yes. How about you?" Jughead pulls back and inspects my face.

"I'm fine." I latch back on him.

The workers grab us and take us out of the horrible place. Betty and Alice are still inside but we know she won't let us see Betty for a while.

I start to process the scene better now understanding what the real problem is. Polly is pregnant, another thing to investigate.
