Chapter 13✔︎

Y/N PoV
I stare down at the piece of paper. This can't be happening...my dad discarded everything we had left of my mom. This was the one thing I could remember her by. Now it's going to be gone. I bite my lip and put on a brave face.

I look at Jughead. He is staring at the ground. I put my hand on his back to try and get his attention, "Jug?"

"We are screwed." He whispers to me.

I nod. We really are screwed. Wait a second! "Jughead. What if I get emancipated? Then I will get all the money from the bank accounts in my name. I could rent an apartment and we could stay there together."

He shakes his head and looks away from the ground, "I'm not going to ask you to separate from your father so I can get a place to stay."

I take a deep breathe and decide, "I'm doing this so I won't have to see my dad anymore. I would finally be free..."

"Are you sure? That's a big deal Y/N."

I nod, "I've never been so sure with something in my life. My dad hasn't even tried to find me so it's obvious he doesn't care. I'm talking to a lawyer tomorrow."

"I'll be right by your side." He holds my hand and brings it to his lips. Jughead kisses my hand and gives it a squeeze.

"Thank you." I whisper quietly. I wrap my arms around him and bury my head in his chest.

He holds me protectively and kisses the top of my head. "Let's get to bed."

I smile, "Okay."

We lay down in bed together as we always do. In each other's arms and hopeful for the future. This time we know it will be ok.

**Time Skip**
The next morning Jughead had to type up an article for the paper so I go and find Betty and Veronica.

I see Veronica approaching Betty with today's copy in her hand. I join Veronica with a smile as we walk over to Betty.

"Quite the expose-a. Where ever did you find the time to write it?" She holds it up and admires the clever tittle.

"Yeah. This must have taken a while and we didn't leave until 11." I grab one of the papers and start reading.

Betty straightens out the stack of newspapers, "I stayed up all night. Couldn't sleep after."

I could tell she was tired. Veronica frowns, "Me either."

"I slept great!" I say happily.

"Because you slept in the arms of your knight and shining armer." Veronica smirks and continues on, "Betty... Y/N you two came through for me in a way that anyone has before, but can we talk about what happened?"

I sigh and look down at the stacked papers.

Betty looks at us. She doesn't seem to know what we are talking about, "What do you mean?"

"The wig and everything? How far were you going to take it?" Veronica looks at Betty astonished that she doesn't even remember it.

   "Chuck deserves it."

I frown at her innocence, "Betty you called him Jason."

Betty thinks about it for a second trying to recall last night, "No I didn't do that." She starts walking away to her locker.

Veronica and I follow her, "Yeah girl. You did. You called yourself Polly. It was like Dr. Difficult Mistress High. You became another person." She informs Betty.

"Betty you wouldn't stop. It was like someone had control of you."

"Okay I remember saying to Chuck to apologize for Polly but not because I thought he was Jason." Betty grabs her backpack and looks annoyed.

Veronica crosses her arms and presses on, "Why then?"

Betty shrugs, "Becasue I'm sick of guys like Chuck and Jason doing these horrible things to girls like me, you, Y/N, and Polly." Betty says to us, "Okay?" She storms away from us.

I sigh and leave trying to forget that night. This is one part of high school I never want to think about again.

Later that day all of us girl stand in a line watching Chuck handing in his leather man jacket. We got justice! And some detention but it was worth it.

Ethel looks over at us, "Thanks Betty, Thanks Veronica, Thanks Y/N."

Betty smiles at her, "Thank you Ethel for going on the record. It made all of the difference with Weatherbee."

"You are the bravest of them all Ethel Muggs." Veronica tells her.

Cheryl looks over at Veronica, "#justiceforethel." She chirps.

I take a deep breathe and smile at the sight of the angry Bulldogs. I could finally forget this and move on to my bigger problems.

Sooner or later that day I heard the story of Betty and Cheryl burning the stupid book in a barrel. That's were it belongs. Long forgotten in ashes.
