Kevin Keller walks towards Betty and I holding a drink carrier. He hands her and I each a coffee and keeps one for himself. As he sits he sighs. "Of course all any of us can think of is Mr. Andrews, But if we weren't so focused on his well-being, - I'd be asking if you and Jughead you know," he asks. I look at him then at Betty in silence and sip my coffee.
"You did, didn't you?!" Betty exclaims.
"We did," I mumble.
"Oh my god y/n!" Kev squeals.
"What happened?" She asks
"He told me he loved me," I say.
"Wait, what?" Betty asks.
"Jughead Jones said 'I love you' Mr. 'I'm weird, I'm a weirdo'" Kev asks.
"And I told him I loved him back," I say, "Well and then things got complicated. And then Lily showed up and it got weird."
"Weird how?" They ask
"Weird as in I may be dating a gang member," I say.
"Y/n!" Betty exclaims in horror.
"You can't be serious," Kev says. "I mean, did you learn nothing from me and Joaquin?"
"Oh, come on, Joaquin was nice," Betty says.
"Yeah, when he wasn't dumping bodies in Sweetwater River or mopping up buckets of blood," he says.
"Jughead isn't like that," I say to him, "plus I grew up around the serpents. I mean seriously My mom and Lily were serpents. I support Jughead and if this is what helps FP get out of jail or even help Jughead deal with things." I notice people rushing in. It all makes sense when Cheryl struts in with a white dress burned on the ends.
"What the hell? Cheryl? Cheryl, what's going on? Is that your mom?" We all ask the various questions.
"What happened?" Betty asks.
"Oh, haven't you heard? There was a terrible fire at Thornhill last night. I might've perished if not for Mommy's heroics," Cheryl says.
"Oh, my God, is this the apocalypse?" Kev asks.
"Apparently," I say.
"After my ordeal at Sweetwater River, I was asleep when the fire started. They think it was a breeze knocking over a lit candle, catching the curtains. Mommy got home from the Jubilee and rushed headlong into the blaze, risking her life to save mine. Unfortunately, she suffered third-degree burns and acute smoke inhalation," She says.
"No offense but of all people your mother saved you?" I ask, "that seems ridiculous."
"Everything with my Father and Jason has really shaken us both," Cheryl says, "she doesn't want to lose anything else." I nod and she keeps talking. "What are you guys doing here?"
"Fred," I say to her, "and his ordeal."
"What happened?" She asks.
"He was shot at pops," Betty says.
"Shot?" Cheryl exclaims.
"Shot," I say.
"Wow," she says. She looks around and sighs, "look I have to go find my mother."
"Alright Cheryl," I say. She walks off and I look at Kev and Betty, "Whats going on in Riverdale?" They both shrug and I sigh placing my hands on my face. By now football players and students of Riverdale High were littered around the hospital to see if Fred and Archie were okay.
"Hey Y/n," I hear a male voice say. I look up to see Reggie standing above me.
"Hey," I reply not really caring for a conversation.
"Can we talk?" He asks. I look at Betty in confusion than at him.
"Sure," I say as I stand up. He leads me away from the crowd to a smaller waiting room. "What's up, Reggie?"
"I'm calling a truce with you," He says.
"What?" I ask in shock. Was he okay? Or did he finally kill off all of his brain cells?
"With everything happening in Riverdale I just wanted to make shit slightly easier," He says, "I'm done messing with you and Jughead."
"Why thanks," I say sarcastically, "although that could have happened years ago."
"I know I'm sorry," He says.
"It's whatever," I say, "truce." I hold out my hand and he shakes it.
"Truce," He says.
"Good," I say.
"Hows Andrews?" He asks looking away from me. I sigh thinking of Fred.
"He's a mess," I say, "he's so close to Fred and he was right there."
"How are you holding up?" He asks, "I know Fred is like a father to you."
"Why would I tell you that?" I ask harshly.
"Because I'm trying," he says. I look at him then to the ground.
"I'm a mess," I say, "I feel numb. And I want nothing more than to rip the guy who did it limb from limb."
"Sounds like the y/n we all know," He says, "always violence with you."
"I protect the ones I care about Reggie," I say, "and It's killing me that I couldn't do anything." He pats my back in a comforting way.
"You couldn't have done anything," he says.
"I know," I say, "but I still feel like we could have prevented it." I feel my phone vibrate and I pull it from my pocket.
"Loverboy?" He asks.
"No Betty," I say, "I have to go back there but thanks, Reggie." He nods in that stereotypical douche way and I walk away. I find my way back to the main waiting room and see Jughead and Betty standing off in a corner. At some point in this mess, Jughead had stolen back his beanie. I'm surprised I hadn't noticed it. I walk up to the raven-haired boy and wrap my arm around his waist.
"Where were you?" He asks.
"Talking to Reggie," I say, "he wanted to call a truce with us."
"And he had to talk to you about it?" He asks. I shrug and he sighs. "We are heading to Pop's wanna join?"
"Why are you going to Pop's?" I ask.
"To find Fred's wallet," Betty says.
"Archie says its missing," Jug says.
"Nah I'll let you guys handle this," I say, "I'll stay here with Archie." Jughead nods and Betty speaks up.
"I'll be quick I promise," She says.
"Bring me back an emergency milkshake," I say to them. They nod and jughead hugs me.
"I'll be back soon I promise," He says.
"Its fine," I say hugging him back, "just figure out whats up at Pop's please."
"Alright," He says. They leave the waiting room and I sit down. Eventually, Archie walks in and I run up to him.
"Arch," I say. Reggie approaches him and pulls him into a hug.
"Thanks, Reggie," Archie says.
"Bulldogs are here for you," Reggie says.
"And so are the Pussycats," Josie says walking up with her girls, "We're sending your dad our prayers and giving him as many of our nine lives as he needs."
"Thanks, Josie," He says.
"Veronica said that you were down at the sheriff's station? That maybe they got the guy?" She asks. I look at him. This was news to me.
"Yeah, but it wasn't him. He's still out there," Archie says.
"Archie," Fred's doctor says. Archie turns to him, "He's in Room 12, you can see him now."
"Okay, great," Archie says starting to walk away but stops when the doctor speaks up.
"Listen, he hasn't woken up yet. But talk to him, coax him back. Keep it positive," He says, "Honestly, that could make all the difference." Archie nods and walks off leaving me alone. Reggie places a hand on my shoulder and I sigh.
"Y/n," Kev says pulling me away from Reggie. I wave to Reggie and follow Kev.
