Stranger Danger

Normally I'd pretend to shrug it off, but with a tired brain I was too tired to deal with a tail. Drunks weren't very fast most of the time, if I was lucky the bloke couldn't even walk straight.

But their footsteps sounded sure, which wasn't a good sign for me. What was worse was that they were speeding up.

I sped up as well almost to a jog when I suddenly heard a scuffle, someone had snuck up on the person following me and tackled them.

"Hey get off!"

"Leave her alone!"

I turned back around with wide eyes.
Jackson must have seen the guy come out to follow me and also followed out, but he'd just tackled G.

"Jackson it's ok." I said walking over. I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him off of the skeleton.

"You know him?" Jackson asked obviously wary of the tall stack of bones. I don't know who wouldn't be. I nodded.

"This is G. G this is Jackson, he's a new employee." I introduced them and they gave stiff greetings, I didn't exactly blame them, each had met on a bad note.

"G why were you following me?" I asked rubbing the side of my head. I was starting to get a headache from trying to focus all day, I just wanted to go home and go to bed.

"I heard you were crying and wanted to know what was up." He said simply, I felt Jackson brush my hand with his.

"I'm gonna head back to the bar, hopefully the boss didn't notice I was gone." He murmured and I nodded to him.

It was unlikely that Harrison would find out unless someone told him his employee had ditched for a few minutes, but regularly, no one complained.

"I need to get home." I sighed softly and started heading out again when G reached out and grabbed my arm.

"Don't grab me like that." I told him pulling my arm away.

"C'mon Sweetheart, let me take you home."

"Why?"

"Because I want to?"

"I'm fine."

"D*** it Doll, just let me take you home, it'll be way faster than you walking in the dark."

I paused and turned to him with a frown.

"Are you changing nicknames now?"

"What? Do you like me calling you Dollface?" I could practically hear the smirk on his teeth.

"No, I don't." I answered honestly and turned away from him.

"Come on." He sighed grabbing my hand gently, that was even more strange than him grabbing my arm. I felt a ripple run up my arm like I'd just stuck my arm in warm water.

Then the feeling of weightlessness came over me and the next thing I knew I was stumbling into my couch.

"Ow."

"Sorry."

"I told you I wanted to walk." I frowned back at him.

"Relax, I'm sure your boyfriend doesn't mind."

"Ugh, he's not my boyfriend, G." I groaned pulling my hair out of a ponytail.

"He's not?"

"No! He's a new employee I already told you that." I sighed shaking out my hair and going around my couch to my room.

"Must have been lost in thought." He muttered as I dropped my uniform on my bed and walked back into the living room to sit down.

"Well next time try to listen, alright?" I asked with a bit of an irritated stare.

"So..you work at Harrison's tavern?"

I sighed.

"You gotta problem?"

"Yeah."

I jumped when I heard his hands on each side of me, trapping me against the couch.

"You do know that the place you work in is practically a strip club, right?"

I rolled my eyes. "Oh hey, it's the perfect place for you to hang out." I said sarcastically.

There was a small pause of silence.

"This isn't a joke Sweetheart, you could get hurt working in a place like that."

I arched a skeptical brow at him. "Thank you for the concern, but I'm not hurt am I?"

"I can help you get a different job." He told me making me frown.

"You're not listening to me."

"It's not smart to mess around in those sorts of places." He continued, as if that was going to shut me up. I'd earned that job on my own, Sure it was s*** but it paid.

"I don't need your help G. I'm fine where I am." I told him stubbornly. I'd made my decision, I wasn't going to let him change my job for me. He always seemed to be trying to drag me off somewhere, why, for the love, couldn't he just leave me be?

G was staring at me for a minute, I tensed slightly when he leaned closer. I could smell cigarette smoke on his breath and it made my pulse quicken.

"Fine, but don't complained to me when someone takes advantage of you." He told me in a low tone.

I looked him in the face even though darkness met my gaze. "I've lived without you this long, I think I'll survive without you for a little longer." I spoke evenly, but then heard a sigh.

"Let's just hope your warranty doesn't expire."

I frowned at him but suddenly felt the pressure next to my sides leave. Then it was silent, the skeleton was gone.
