Chapter 14

After talking to a therapist about some stuff, Clay felt like he needed a break from everything. Since he realized he hadn't spent much time with Tony, he diceded to ask him if he knew any good places around town where no one would be.

So now, here Clay and Tony were, climbing up the side of a small mountain-type hill. "Are you sure this is safe?" Clay asked Tony, who was a good ways above him. "Of course it is. I come here all the time!" Tony exclaimed loud enough to be heard. "How do I get my heart to stop feeling like it'll explode?" Clay asked as he tried to catch his breath. "Breathe slower!" Came Tony's response. "How do I do that?" Clay asked back. Tony chuckled a little to himself. "Clay, just relax. You're almost to the top!" Tony said as he himself made it to the top. But as Tony went to grab a rock to pull himself up, the small rock came loose just as Tony pulled himself over the edge. "Look out!" Tony tried to warn, but was too late as he saw the rock hit his friend in the head where he already had a decent-sized cut. As soon as the unexpected rock made contact, Clay let go with one hand, immidiately feeling blood start to run down the side of his head. Complaining that he couldn't see, Tony rushed to take his climbing rope and throw it down to Clay. "Grab on! I'll pull you up!" Tony exclaimed. Clay blindly reached over with his free hand until he felt the rope. "Don't worry. You'll be fine. I won't let you fall." Tony reassured after seeing some hesotation from his friend. Clay then slowly went to grab the rope with his other hand as well, feeling Tony quickly start to pull him up the rest of the way.

"See, that wasn't too bad now,  was it?" Tony asked as the two sat at the top of the mountain. "Says the one who didn't get hit by a rock." Clay said with a small smirk. Tony smiled back in response. "How are you holding up these days, Clay?" Tony asked suddenly. "And I want an honest answer." He added before Clay could brush off the question. Clay sighed. "Honestly, I don't really know. I mean, I know I saved Hannah and all that, but it still feels like I didn't." Clay explained. "Are you getting nightmares again?" Tony asked softly, knowing about Clay's past. "Every now and then, yeah." Clay said with a sigh. "And they're all pretty much the same thing. Someone blaming me for not being there or not stopping Hannah in time." Clay explained. "I also get these flashbacks sometimes too." Clay said. "Flashbacks?" Tony asked. "Yeah. Like from when I did get to Hannah in time. I'll sometimes get flashbacks of that. My parents put me back on that medication again, and have me seeing someone." Clay explained. "Like a therapist?" Tony asked. "Yeah. And I guess it does help some, to talk about this stuff. But it's almost like it brings it back too. It hurts to talk about." Clay said. "Well, I don't fully know what you've got going on in that head of yours, but I'll always be here if you need someone else to talk to. Besides, I'm your best friend. I'll always be there if you need anything." Tony said, lightly patting Clay's shoulder with a small smile. "Thanks, Tony. You're a great friend to me." Clay said, returning the smile. "Well, what do you say we get out of here and go grab some food?" Tony asked as he stood up. "Wait, we have to climb back down?" Clay asked as he stared up at his friend. Tony only laughed. "No. There's a small trail the leads up here." He said with a smirk. "A what?!" Clay exclaimed as he quickly got up. "I could've just died, and you're telling me there was a trail this whole time?!" He questioned. Tony shrugged. "What fun would it have been if we just walked up here?" Tony asked in response. "Plus, you're my friend. You should know to expect some adventurous stuff from me by now." Tony said with a smile. "Now come on, Jensen! We can even invite Hannah if you'd like." Tony said as he gathered his things and started heading down the trail. Clay hurried to follow him as he silently agreed and pulled his phone out of his pocket. As he walked behind Tony, he checked his phone, seeing two missed calls: one from Hannah and one from his mother. Debating with himself, Clay decided to text Hannah first.

Helmet: Hi, Hannah. Sorry I didn't get your call. I was a but busy with Tony.

Hannah: Oh, that's ok! What were you guys doing?

Helmet: Just talking about some stuff. Anyway, he and I are going to grab some food somewhere. Want to join?

Hannah: Sure, if you're both ok with that.

Helmet: Tony was actually the one who suggested I invite you, so I'm pretty sure he's ok with it.

Hannah: Ok. Where should I meet you two then?

Helmet: Rosie's Diner?

Hannah: Alright. I'll be there in 20

After seeing her response, Clay put his phone back in his pocket and got into Tony's red mustang. "So, where to?" Tony asked. "How about Rosie's Diner?" Clay asked. "Sounds good. Did you ask Hannah?" Tony asked as he started the car and drove off. "I did. She said she'd meet us there." Clay said. "Looks like I'm working as a third wheel then." Tony said jokingly. "Hey, you brought that upon yourself, buddy." Clay replied with a smile. "Yes I did." Tony agreed with a smile.

Sorry if it's short. Decided to do a chapter around Clay and Tony since I haven't really done that yet. Anyway, hope you liked it!
