He sat there, arms on the glass counter as he waited for someone to need his assistance. That's all he ever really did, not that he was complaining thought. He fumbled with the sliver button on shirt mindlessly. His shirt was black and button down, it said 'Guitar Center' on it too, right above where his name tag was suppose to be. He never did wear his name tag, he didn't like strangers knowing this name, it was weird. He swayed his hips a little as his eyes shifted over to where two boys were. one was standing tall while the other was sat on a black stool, a baby blue guitar in his hands which was plugged up to an amp as he tried to play some guitar riff that sounded kind of familiar. the taller boy who stood was a brunette with blue eyes, the one sitting down was a bit shorter, and he had dyed black hair and bright green eyes. He smiled at them as the brunette laughed at his black haired friend as the boy realized he had his finger holding down the wrong cord. He leaned in ever so slightly, trying to hear their conversation.
"Are you sure you know how to do this?" the brunette asked, starring down at the other boy who only stared back in embarrassment and replied "Yeah, dude. I wrote it down, it's actually really easy."
He shook his head as he smiled to himself, he really needed to stop eavesdropping on people he didn't know. It was stupid really, he only really did it when he had no one to talk to. a few minutes passed by as he watched the clock, waiting until the boys where to buy something or just leave. Not that he wanted to rush them or anything, but they had been here for a while now. his vision went slightly blurred as he lost interest in literally anything going on around him. He was in a daze, mind cleared and oddly happy, he could almost feel the smile that was pulling at his lips, and then something pulled him back. A voice.
"Hey."
He opened his eyes, faced with the black haired, green eyed boy who he watched playing guitar. The boy smiled. He smiled back, taking a moment to glance at the boy fully. The black hair pale boy was happily sporting a black and blue Fall Out Boy shirt, black jeans, a black and sliver belt, and finger-less skeleton gloves. He looked like the type of guy who would get mistaken for a band member. He of all people looked like someone who would play guitar.
"I really like your hair, has anyone ever told you that you look like Gerard Way?" The boy asked. He tilted his head in question, then he looked down and caught a glance at his reflection in the glass counter top below him, seeing his brightly dyed red hair that, un-be-knows to him, stuck out in ways he didn't really want it to. He blushed slightly and smiled back at the boy, nodding a little as he politely replied with "Yeah, I think I've heard the name before.."
The black haired boy smiled, and out of the corner of his eye he saw the boy's brunette friend give him a thumbs up from the side.
"Well, I'm Joey. It's nice to meet you..." the black haired boy stated, eyeing his shirt probably in search of a name tag, which he didn't have.
"uhm, I'm Gayle..." He replied.
the boy, or 'Joey', smiled at him again. He must love to smile Gayle thought.
"Gayle? That's interesting, never heard of a guy with the name Gayle.... I think I'll call you Gerard." Joey told him.
"Some of my friends call me Gee..." Gayle offered, not really knowing how he felt about a stranger calling him by the name of a Rock star he just barely knew anything about. Joey's eyes widened just the slightest.
"Hey, some of Gerard's friends call him Gee, so I guess it works out..." he said with a smile. Gee smiled back at him, and then there was awkward silence... dear god, the one thing neither of them could stand. In a desperate attempt to get out of the silence, Joey cleared his throat and asked "So uh, how long have you worked here?"
"A while, maybe six months at the least..." Gee replied. Joey nodded as he added onto the conversation by saying "Cool. Well, I work at the Hot Topic in the mall, come visit sometime, I work Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays."
"Cool." Gee replied. Then it was silent again. Joey groaned under his breath.
"Hey, uh, I gotta go, but is it okay if I give you my number and we can talk later?" He asked. Gee stared at him, dumbstruck. Joey shook his head and groaned again, this time louder.
"I'm sorry. Look, I just like you dude, I wanna be your friend, but I don't know how because I'm nervous and antisocial and-"
"Sure, I'll take your number." Gee interrupted. Joey stopped in the middle of his machine gun like speaking and smiled, out of breath. The black haired boy reached into his back pocket and pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to the redhead happily.
"Thanks man! Talk to ya' later.... Or, ya' know what, I'll text you! Yeah, I'll text you later dude...." He said, and he turned to walk away, but not without looking back and saying in a shy voice "Bye Gee.." with a small wave. Gee thought it was cute.
Gee smiled.
