“Come on, hurry up.” Detective Choi sighed heavily as he walked passed Jaehyun and up the stairs into the police station.

Jaehyun swallowed down his fear and followed him along with Mark and Lucas. The three boys were led inside the busy building, down a few corridors and into a small interview room with a metal desk, two chairs on either side and a large mirror on the wall behind it.

“Get two extra chairs for me please.” Detective Jun asked a young looking uniformed man who stood at the door.

He saluted to her before running off down the corridor.

Jaehyun continued to fidget with his backpack straps while stood awkwardly in the corner of the ominous feeling room. He glanced at Lucas who was standing next to him. He didn't appear to be feeling the same nervously nauseating sensation as Jaehyun was, instead has checking himself out in the large mirror opposite them, looking at himself from different angles and fixing his hair.

Along from him, Mark was resting back against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. He looked seriously pissed off and deep in thought, with his eyebrows sunk down into a deep, angry frown.

The detective then came back into the room, followed by the young officer carrying two extra chairs. He sat them down next to other chair by the table opposite the mirror. He saluted once more to Detective Jun and then stepped outside and closed the door.

“Alright, take a seat.” Detective Jun said as she took her own seat opposite them.

Jaehyun sat down nervously in the chair closest to the door.

Detective Jun looked at the three boys in front of her before getting straight to business.

“Where were the three of you last night between the hours of eight and nine PM?” She asked.

“Home.” Mark answered simply.

“Home.” Lucas said after him.

“Home.” Jaehyun croaked, following suit.

She eyed each of them intently. “What about Saturday night then?” She asked.

“Home.” Mark responded once again.

“I was at home too, in bed.” Lucas answered. He said each word slowly, his voice dripping with flirtatious connotations. “You know, I happen to have a queen size bed and I sleep naked.” He said, flashing the detective a smile and winking at her.

She completely ignored him and shifted her gaze to Jaehyun who shifted uncomfortably and avoided eye contact.

“And you Jaehyun?” She asked.

“I was at home too.” He replied in a small voice.

Detective Jun sighed and picked up a large brown envelope. She pulled out its contents and threw them onto the desk. They were grainy black and white photographs. Jaehyun's eyes widened as he recognized himself and Mark, donned in black gear outside the school building where they had broke in on Saturday night.

“Well that's odd, because it's my understanding that two of you broke into the school on Saturday at around 10:40pm. You didn't come out with anything and nothing was reported stolen but you were spotted on the surveillance camera footage entering the building at 10:38pm and then leaving at 10:56pm.  So please tell me, why were you there? What did you go looking for?” Detective Jun asked.

Jaehyun's mind was racing. Since when were there cameras on the school grounds, and how had they not known about them?

“So you think that's us?” Mark asked pointing to the photographs on the table. “What makes you think that? Those photos are so hazy and the men are completely covered so no one would be able to tell who they are.” He said confidently.

“I've said this before but I don't like making assumptions. However it is certainly plausible that two of you went looking for information about Jungwoo's address as you had planned to attack him in his home where he thought he was safe. You did this as he was your next intended victim after you attacked his boyfriend Doyoung in the school bathrooms not a week prior. You then tried to cover it up by having Mark play the victim. Also, due to the nature of the attacks I am lead to assume that your motives were driven by hate towards those who identify themselves as homosexual, though I haven't fully established why this is. Does this sound about right to you three?” Detective Jun said confidently, a small satisfied smile pulling at her lips.

Oh fuck oh fuck, we are really fucked now.

Jaehyun was quietly trying not to panic and run screaming from the room. His hands were balled so tightly into fists on his knees that it looked like the bones might tear through his skin.

She knew everything. Detective Jun had figured everything out. The only thing she needed now was evidence, but did she have it? Jaehyun’s concerns were soon answered as Mark asked exactly what he was thinking.

“So where’s your evidence then?” Mark asked in a cynical tone.

Detective Jun sat back in her chair and folded her arms. “Well, there were several fingerprints found at the scenes of both attacks, as well as - crucially - on the weapon used against Doyoung. I'm confident that when we take your fingerprints they will all be a match.” She responded simply.

“But don't you need our consent to take our fingerprints because we're minors?” Lucas scoffed.

Detective Jun nodded. “That's correct Lucas, in most cases we do. However we can obtain a warrant to obtain fingerprints from a minor given the right circumstances, and I have done just that.”

She placed her hands on the desk and leaned forward, staring at the three boys with a look that Jaehyun could only describe as triumph.

“You can keep lying and fabricating the truth all you want but understand this; for what you did to those innocent boys - your classmates - you will all be spending a long time in jail. I will make sure of that.”

A cold shiver ran up Jaehyun's spine as she said this and the reality of it all sank in.

They were going to go to jail, all of them, including him. Even if it was Mark who did it, he and Lucas had helped him. They were accessories to the crimes, like Mark had said, only they had gone too far. The damage had already been done and Jaehyun couldn't go back and change it, even if he desperately wished to do so.

“We will take your fingerprints and then I will interview you each separately.” Detective Jun said as she stood.

The door opened and Detective Choi’s reproachful gaze settled over them.

“Take them down to get fingerprinted.” Detective Jun told him, and Detective Choi nodded and flicked his hand at them, signalling for them to follow him.

Jaehyun, Mark and Lucas quickly followed him through the busy hallways of the station, then to be ordered to sit down on a set of black chairs outside an office that Detective Choi entered, closing the door behind him. Once he was gone, Jaehyun let out a panicked wheeze and ran his hands through his hair. He turned to Lucas and Mark.

“What are we going to do? Once they get our fingerprints we're done for!” He exclaimed.

He desperately stared at his friends, hoping one of them would have the answers. However there was silence as neither answered him. Lucas looked like he was finally beginning to understand the predicament they were in as he slumped down in his chair, while Mark looked angrier than before. He seemed volatile and dangerous, like an active volcano that could erupt at any second.

He suddenly stood up, his hands balled tightly into fists at his sides and stared at Jaehyun and Lucas.

“I'll tell you what I'm going to do,” He sneered. “I'm going go and finish what I started. Fuck the police, I'm going to find that little faggot Jaemin and make him pay.”

He swung on his heel to leave but Jaehyun grabbed hold of his wrist.

“Are you insane? None of that matters now, they already know it was us. Whether Jaemin says anything or not it doesn't matter!” Jaehyun shouted under his breath.

Mark glared at him and yanked his wrist free.

“So what? You expect me to just sit here and get sent to jail? To admit defeat?” He growled.

“Maybe, maybe if we tell them everything and cooperate they might go easy on us.” Jaehyun pleaded.

Letting Mark run off wouldn't be a good idea; he would be fleeing from the police. Then again, everything they did and had done had been a bad idea - no, a fucking terrible idea.

“Please,” Mark scoffed. “You think they'll go easy on us? That detective bitch just told us she wants to lock us up and throw away the key- no, I'm not going to just sit here, fuck that!” Mark sneered.

Jaehyun saw pure hatred and anger in Mark's eyes before he turned and ran off down the hallway, shoving past people as he went. Still beaten and bruised, Jaehyun was suddenly scared of how he looked, like some terrifying beast intent on destruction. He hated to think what he would do now if he managed to find Jaemin.

Lucas put his head in his hands and sighed. “Man, this is fucked up. So fucked up.”
