Corey did everything else, giving me shots and IV’s. Tyler wouldn’t let go of me. He held onto my limp hand like nothing else. 

“TB, let’s go get you some food. You haven’t eaten all day and you can’t kill yourself. You know she wouldn’t want you to.” Dylan said. 

“I can’t leave her.” Tyler said.

“Tyler, it’s best you do. It will make her wolf want to change faster with the want to be near you.” Corey said. 

Dylan pulled his arm back and Tyler slowly gave in. 

“Corey, stay with her...please...call me if anything happens or changes.”

“I will.” Corey nodded.

Tyler slowly left and went to the kitchen. 

Corey sat down on the bed by my hand. 

“Kally, i know you probably can’t hear me but you have to pull through this. I know it hurts but Tyler needs you. He’s gone through so much pain to help you. All you have to do is get through this pain and he won’t ever let you go through anything again. He’s going to be there for you every minutes of every day... he loves you Kally. Just keep that in mind ok?” He slowly got up and walked to the counter and worked on some papers.

A half hour passed and Tyler was still gone. Corey continued to study papers until he heard my heart monitor speed up drastically. He ran to me and looked at the machines before getting another needle. My eyes snapped open and i screamed in pain. Anyone in the house probably heard it. 

“Shh, it’s ok. i’m putting more painkillers in! You can go back to sleep in a minute.”

“NO! Please, don’t! It still hurts! It doesn't help!” I screamed out again in pain and Tyler came rushing into the room with Dylan.

“What's happening!” Tyler yelled.

“Her wolf finally killed the pain killers. She just told me they aren’t helping though. She still felt everything. Sir, i don’t know what to do anymore!” Corey yelled over my crys. Tears ran from my eyes and i twisted on the bed. 

“She will go through it on her own without pain killers.” Alpha came in saying calmly.

“Dad, she won’t be able to handle the pain! She’s just to the 75% mark and she can’t sit still or stop screaming! She’s going to die!” Tyler begged him.

“Son, i know it is hard to hear but nature is taking it’s course. I’m sorry but she might die. That’s how it works. I know you don’t want to hear that but there is nothing we can do. Her body makes the decision now.” Alpha spoke and sat down in a chair against the wall. “She has to be strong and have something worth living for.”

Tyler turned to me and tried to calm me down but it didn’t help. It felt like my skin was being shredded by a razor. My hair was being pulled out. My insides were being stabbed. My heart was beating fast and uncontrollably. Everything hurt. 

About a half hour passed and it got worse but i gripped more onto Tylers hand. My bones started to pop and break before my skin was stretched. i screamed one final time before everything went black.

“Dad, what's going on?” Tyler whispered.

“Her body is changing. If she can wake up from this, she has lived. i’m sorry if she doesn’t son.” He whispered. In truth, alpha didn’t think that i would live. The amount of pain i went through was three times the normal of any wolf change. He knew i was early as well. i shouldn’t live. 

“C’mon Kalla! I know you can make it. Baby, wake up, wake up for me! Please!” He begged. He picked me up when i didn’t open my eyes and fell to the floor. He leaned against the wall holding my wolf form and rocking me back and forth. “Please, wake up...” He whispered, tears running from his eyes.

“I’m sorry son.” Alpha said, leaning forward and resting his face in his hands. Dylan took a shaky step back, using the wall to keep for support. 

“I’m sorry, Kalla. i caused this. i should have never went out with those girls. You would have never ran and gotten captured by Justins pack. i’m so sorry!” Tyler whispered.

‘It’s ok.’ i thought to him as i opened my eyes. ‘I think i need your help figuring this all out though. I don’t get how to work this body.” I smiled.

“KALLA!” He yelled hugging me into him. Alpha and Dylan looked up in shock. 

“How did she do it?” Alpha whispered.

i slowly nuzzled my way out of his arms and stood. i pranced over to Alpha and smiled.

‘I sir am a strong girl and have something to live for.’ i ran back over and jumped on Tyler. 

“Yes you are, Kalla.  Yes, you are.” he smiled.

“Alright, let’s focus you two.” Alpha ordered. Both Tyler and I sat down in Alphas office. Dylan and Connor stood against the wall on Tylers side. Jakub and Corey stood on my side. Dad and Mom were both behind me and holding onto the back of the chairs almost as if they needed it for what Alpha was about to say. 

“Dad, can you just tell us what you called us here for?” Tyler groaned.

“Ok, after due consideration and many meetings within these past two days, the council and i have decided to keep all of you in school. That includes you and Kally. We find that you have more chance getting hurt in the open than at school. Yes, Kally, you were hurt to make you change, but that was out of school. Plus, you have changed now. You are a Beta and will eventually be an Alpha. Until then though, you are just another wolf. There should be no threat at your school, besides Justin of course. BUT, Tyler is now in all of your classes. Justin won’t be able to get near you.”

“Are you serious?” was all i could muster up to say.

“Yes, i am Kally. Your parent’s and i have discussed it. They understand it is safer there, considering your mishap here in the forest...” 

“Ok, then...” i said.

“You leave as soon as you are ready. Jakub, Connor, Dylan, if you wish to leave earlier, you may do so. Please have someone run with you at all times. i do not want any of you being hurt by someone else. Any questions?”

“Yeah, is this school a year round school?” A voice suddenly asked behind me. i turned around and came face to face with Vic. 

“Vic!” i screamed. i jumped up and ran to him, wrapping my arms around him. Though, the problem, his hug felt like I was hugging someone i hated. The feeling of love just wasn’t there.

“I’ve missed you so much!” he whispered. i backed away and looked at my hands.“It’s not you, it’s the fact you have changed... your wolf knows who your mate is. It feels uncomfortable with someone else.” Vic groaned. i looked back at Tyler to see him frowning.

“Oh...” i whispered.

“But you’re still my best buddy ever!” he yelled, wrapping an arm around me.

“What are you doing here?” i asked.

“I will be accompanying you to the school when you leave. Josh will join to but we will be more protection. Just to be safe, you know?” 

i nodded. The fact that he wasn’t coming to see me kind of lowered my happiness of seeing him but the fact i got to see him still made me happy. We walked back over to the chairs and i sat down on Tylers legs, giving Vic the seat i was sitting in before. 

“Ok, no matter what, you won’t be telling others of your new alpha status. Yes, you are his mate and they will know that soon enough but the Alpha title will not be told to them. You are still a beta. You tell them nothing else. Understood?”

i nodded.

“Alright, i think that is all. You may go. i recommend leaving in a few minutes. It will be dark soon. i don’t want you guys out at night anymore.” Alpha finished. 

All of us stood and left the room. Tyler kept an arm wrapped around my waist as we entered the living room. We sat down in the love seat while the others stood or took the couch.

“I’m so proud of you.” Vic started. He looked at me with pure love and friendship. All the others started to chime in saying how they were too. After awhile, it got kind of annoying but then Connor, of course, had to bring up the challenge. 

“Hey, now that you're one of us, think you can keep up?” He grinned at me. Tyler’s arm wrapped around tighter and i looked at him. He was glaring at Connor like he had asked to kill me or something. “What, she’s a wolf now. She can keep up and you know it! C’mon, we all have to go back to school anyway. Let’s make it a race!” 

“I don’t know...” Dylan jumped in.

“Yeah, she was always bragging how she’d be faster than all of us...” Vic added.

“Guys, she barely knows how to change and you want to make her run? Seriously, you guys really need to think before--”

“No, i can do it!” i interrupted Tyler. I could feel his grip tighten more but i pushed myself away and stood. “I can do this.” i growled. I closed my eyes and looked down. Soon, i could feel the calmness of my body and the immediate change. When i opened my eyes, i was on all fours, staring at the guys. 

‘Let’s go, losers!’ i growled in their heads. They all stood. Some parted for the doors, others shifted right in the living room. Tyler shifted right next to me. As all the guys left outside, i began to walk but was stopped by Tyler jumping in front of me.

‘Kally, you need to be careful. If you put too much strain on yourself now, it takes a long time to recover. Your body is just beginning to understand these changes. Take it easy! Please...” Tyler begged. 

‘Tyler! i know what i’m doing! Just because you’re my mate doesn't mean you have to constantly baby me!’ i shoved past him and ran out the door to the rest of the guys. ‘I’ll call it! On three....one....two...three!’ All of us took off. 

Feet pounded the floor and pushed off, sending dirt flying behind. It was almost as if the ground shook as we ran and jumped over each other. The trees came fast but i had yet to run into one. It seemed natural to dodge all them. Maybe my wolf knew this whole forest or could feel where all the trees were. i didn’t know yet but i’d sure as hell be finding out as soon as i got to school.

That posed another problem. i was one of the ones in the lead, but i had no idea where i was running. All of us seemed to be running this specific way so i was guessing it was straight ahead. 

‘They’re gaining on you...’ Tyler's voice echoed in my head.

‘Stay out of my head!’ i screamed. 

‘Hey, Ty boy, i know you’re faster than this! Don’t fucking cheat to help your mate!’ Dylan yelled. ‘Cheater!’ 

Soon everyone was yelling cheater at him until he passed me. He gained distance away from us and it felt like a part of me went with him...my heart. Maybe i shouldn’t have been so mean. Maybe i should have just let him help me...but he was babying me! I hate when people do that! Plus, when has that ever been a good thing!

I wasn’t focusing enough to realize i was trying to push myself harder to gain up with him. i could hear my breathing became twice as heavy and soon i was forced to slow down and stop. The others kept going. i looked down staring at the ground. It was moving in a circle pattern and didn’t look like it’d stop soon.

‘Kally, you alright?” i think it was Vic who had asked but i didn’t move to look up.

‘She pushed herself too hard. Her wolf wanted to get to Ty...’ Another voice said. 

The ground swirled more and black spots formed. 

‘Kally, can you hear me?’  i looked up and could feel my eyes begin to roll back as Vic dived forward underneath me before i hit the ground. ‘Josh, get Ty! She needs him!’ Vic yelled in our heads. Josh took off in the direction of the race. 

After a few minutes of yelling my name, Vic managed to prop me on his back so all my weight was evened out on him. He stood up and started to jog towards the school. The weight of me on Vic seemed to affect him minimally. His breath was the only thing  that stuttered. 

After about 5 minutes of walking, he collapsed. ‘i’m sorry, i should be able to do this! It’s just, you’re not my mate. I shouldn’t even be touching you...’ he said to me. 

‘Kally!’ Tyler’s voice yelled.

‘We’re over here! i’m sorry, i’m so sorry! i tried to bring her to you.’ Vic said. 

‘Relax, i know you were only sent here to protect her. Is she alright? What happened?” Tyler asked. 

‘You ran away from her. Her wolf saw it as you leaving her. She tried to catch up to you and strained herself i believe.’ Vic responded. 

‘Alright, patrol area. i’m going to carry her back. Guard us alright?” Tyler said. He didn’t show any fear or hesitation in his thoughts. i’m sure he was worried but he didn’t show it. I lay on his back and he began to walk fast back. 

After around 10 minutes, we were reaching the forest that surrounded school. 

Corey ran up to us in wolf form holding a blanket in his mouth. His wolf changed back to human and he held the blanket up to Tyler.

“Her clothes are probably bad now...” He stated. “Remember, she was at the club before she changed...she still has on your sisters dress...” 

On cue, my body morphed back into my tiny body and i started to roll off of Tyler’s back. Corey jumped forward, wrapping the blanket around me as he picked me up and set me back on Tyler’s back. i naturally curled more into the warm blanket. 

‘Get the room ready. She will be staying with me from now on, alright. Dylan can sleep with his mate.’ Tyler spoke to Corey. He nodded and ran towards the building. He jumped in the air once and switched into wolf form before he hit the ground. 

Tyler took his time walking forward and i wasn’t sure why. He took it step by step. 

Suddenly growls were everywhere and wolves were surrounding us. Tyler softly lowered me to the ground and then stepped over me protectively. His teeth were bared at one particular wolf. 

‘what do You want, Justin!’ Tyler yelled in his head and mine. My body flinched but he didn’t seem to notice. 

‘i smelled a new wolf. i’m guessing it’s from your pack though. Who is that underneath you?’ Justin was sure to send him voice into my head even though he lacked the knowledge of who i was. 

‘No one that concerns you!’ Tyler yelled back. 

The four wolves behind Tyler started to move forward as did the two in front of him. 

‘Oh, doesn’t it now? I think it does since she is here!’ Justin yelled. 

I started to move around in the blanket and Justin howled loudly, knowing he was waking me up. i snapped my eyes open hearing that and came face to face with a wolf. 

The fact that it was a wolf scared the hell out of me but what creeped me out even more was the fact it was standing over me. My breathing picked up and i started to push myself away from underneath him. 

‘Justin, you’re such an ass...’  Tyler said to Justin. He turned back to me.

‘Kally, it’s me, Tyler. You passed out.’ Tyler said to me. I leaned against my elbows on the floor. i tilted my head more, looking at him and realizing it really was him. Before i could get up, another wolf was jumping over me. His teeth latched onto my neck and i screamed and grabbed onto his mouth. 

‘No! Don’t, he’ll just tighten his grip.” Tyler yelled in my head. 

Tears streamed down my cheeks as the nerves set in on me. i was scared he would kill me now. I could feel his teeth piercing the skin and i’m sure blood was coming out. 

‘Justin! Tell your wolf to release her! She’s just a girl!’ Tyler yelled.

‘She’s special. I can feel it sir.’The wolf holding my neck said. 

‘How so, Frank?’ Tyler asked.

‘I don’t know. Her blood tastes different than others.” Frank said back. 

‘Ok, you have 5 seconds to tell me what is up with her.’ Justin growled.

it wasn’t until the fourth second that i had to scream.

‘I’m an--”

‘NO! Don’t!’  Tyler yelled. 

It was too late. I had stopped talking and as a result, Frank bit down harder. i screamed out in pain and started to pull at his jaw. Tyler moved forward but was tackled by the other wolves guarding. Tyler was right though. Franks jaw closed tighter than before. 

Frank suddenly threw me down on the floor. His jaw quickly snapped down on my shoulder. He bit down hard. 

It was all happening again. The attack was the same. 

My body went limp noticing this. My eyes unfocused and stared at the sky. No screams or cries were heard. I just breathed and stared. Tyler started to shout over and over, looking for any response as he fought to break through the other wolves. I didn’t speak. i didn’t think. i just lay there.
