Third pov

Percy told them everything as soon as they gained consciousness. They were stunned into into silence, no body knew what to do and everyone was brainstorming to form a plan that could work.

"Maybe we should talk to Chiron? He will help us." Ron suggested to which Thalia sighed.

"He already has a lot on his plate, he has trained us for years and I think it's time to make his training worth it." She said.

"But we need guidance, we need someone to lead us to the battle, someone who has experience and the courage. We are out of time now. We have to act quick." Hermione said, her tone changing to a worried one.

Everyone kept silent, they had millions of questions running in their minds but there were no answer to them.

"Harry, maybe you can lead us. You are a brilliant wizard and you were great at training too. You have lead Hogwarts to battle before and I am sure you can do that again." Percy said moving closer to Harry who had a stunned expression.

"What? No Percy I have no experience in leading a battle. I was fighting with others, I was not leading them."

"But you can try! You are the best we have-" Percy started but was cut off by Thalia.

"That's not true Percy. YOU are the best we have. You have lead two great battles and won, remember what Chiron said before the battle of Manhattan. You are a leader Percy, lead us." She pleaded to her cousin.

"You know I can't Thalia. I will fight with you but I can't lead you." Came his reply.

"But why? We need you Percy." Hermione asked

"I can't!" He exclaimed and stormed out of the room into the corn fields.

"Why is he acting like this?" Harry asked confused by Percy's sudden outburst. He was used to the cool and collected Percy and this side of him surprised him.

"He had his fair share of experiences in the past." Nico drawled, he was sitting in the corner of the room amongst the shadows.

"What experiences?"

"He is scared, he is scared of loosing his friends and family. He is scared that their blood will be on his hands. Every time we win, he looses. His fatal flaw is loyalty and he lives up to it every single day." Annabeth said softly.

Harry had nothing to say, he knew how it felt to loose loved ones, he won't argue that it was the worst feeling.

He couldn't begin to understand how Percy must be dealing with it, he had lead two great battles and by the stories he had heard from the Demigods, they were horrible.

Next day everyone was in a gloomy mood, no one got a wink of sleep and no one was talking. There was no sound except the occasional clock ticking and the food cooking.

As everyone gathered for the afternoon lunch Ron suddenly came running towards the dining table holding an all too familiar letter. The way everyone was suddenly on alert was almost comical but the seriousness was still in the air.

It was clear now that Hogwarts was in deep trouble. The letter had the official Hogwarts seal and a small stamp on the side saying 'urgent'.

Hermione reached forward and grabbed the letter, tearing the top and retrieving the off white parchment paper. There was only one sentence on it, but it was enough to confirm their beliefs.

"Hogwarts is under attack"

'This year's Christmas is surely memorable.' Nico thought as he filled his black back pack with the things he would possibly need. Although he knew they would be plain useless once he was in battle.

"Are you afraid Nico?" Thalia asked him from the other side of the roon where she was filling her stuff.

"No. Are you?" He replied shortly.

"I'm a hunter Nico, it would be an honour to go down in battle."

"That's also the only way you can die Thalia. No other option." Nico sassed. Thalia cracked up a smile and nudged her cousin while going out of the room, Nico followed.

"We will get there faster if we use apparition. We could go to Hogsmede and then to the castle." Harry suggested.

Everyone agreed and held on to each other. Nico channelled some of his aura around them. They appeared at Hogsmede in mere seconds, Nico offered to shadow travel them straight to the castle but the idea was very gracefully rejected by all of them.

They decided to take one of the secret passages instead. They appeared one by one from behind a stairway into the castle.

There was no sign of the enemy party yet, all they saw were the students, teachers and the Aurora gathered in the Great hall.

Professor McGonagall spotted them and hurried over.

"Harry, finally. I thought you did not get my owl. Things are getting bad, Voldemort has his Army positioned around the castle...they have surrounded us." She informed.

"Do you have a map of the school grounds? Along with all the passages in and out? We will need one of those." Annabeth asked to which McGonagall nodded.

"Do you have any idea how many are they? The rough idea would help us." Annabeth asked while they made way towards a large table that was summoned by one of the teacher's.

"I don't know exactly how many but definitely more than ten thousand." One of the aurors replied.

"It means they don't have that much power over us. We still have a chance to win this over. We may be less in number but with our skills and techniques we can win over them." Jason commented. It got everyone's hopes up.

Percy stood far away from the crowd, watching the enemy. The sky was inky and pouring like there was no tomorrow. 'Guess it was an ideal day for a deadly battle.' he thought.

He continued to stare outside the window until his name was called. Annabeth had left the group to find Percy. Somehow she always managed to know what he was feeling, as if she could feel the same.

"What's wrong seaweed brain?" She asked as back hugged him. Releasing a sigh he relished the touch of his girlfriend.

"What's not wrong wise girl? Everyone is afraid of what is to come, Voldemort's army is already here, there is no sigh of NYX after that night and I'm afraid she has something bigger planned. I'm afraid. If I loose today, I'll loose everything."

"Don't say that Percy, we need you to be strong now. You have proved just how much of a great leader you are. Believe in yourself just how much we all do." Her encouraging words did little to lift his spirit. Percy did not sign up for this when Chiron had send them for a 'vacation'.

But he was not one to run away from battles. Percy Jackson was known for his courage and today the world would witness it again.
