Dog's love

'Sirius! Wanna hang out tonight?'

'Hey, Sirius! Over here!'

'Sirius, are you free for tomorrow?'

Everywhere he went, all the girls called his name and tried to get him to talk to them. Sirius Black. He was, without a doubt, the most popular and wanted boy here at Hogwarts. And he liked it.

'Ugh... do you understand what they see in him?' Lily waved a string of her hair out of her narrowed eyes, and followed the small boys gang with her gaze. 'How is it possible he's so popular? He's a bully!'

I nodded to her sentence and pretended to look annoyed too, but the thoughts in my head took over and said the complete opposite. Because if I was being honest, I wanted to be one of those girls. I wanted Sirius attention so badly, but I couldn't do anything about it. I wasn't popular, and if you're not popular you basically just don't exist. Especially in his case. Sirius probably didn't even know my name...

In the meantime, Lily's eyes had turned themselves to something else and she started smiling. 'Oh, there's Severus! I'm going to see how his Charm's exam went, be right back!'

'Yeah, whatever,' I mumbled, as I watched her leaving me alone under the shadow of a tree. Looking around, I found Sirius and that Potter again and smiled to myself. Believe me, I could watch those two all day. And then not Potter, but just Sirius himself.

But my fantasy was rudely interrupted by a new group of Gryffindor girls who walked up to the boys, and not even a minute later, Sirius had put up a story about how he'd saved James and Remus so many times. Didn't I like the story? Of course I did! I loved it, I really did. But the high-pitched voices of the fan-girls irritated me so much, I decided I couldn't take any more of their popular talks, so I stood up and started to walk up to Hagrid's small cabin.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get rid of Sirius' voice and the loud giggles from girls. Even if I folded my hands over my ears and started to run instead of walking, they followed me until I stood right in front of the forest.

Obviously, Hagrid wasn't home. Should I wait for Lily? No, I said to myself, there was no way I was going back to these girly gits. If they wanted Sirius, fine. They could get him. In fact, I was totally over him. Totally.

'Totally...' I whispered, but as I did, I realized my feet had carried me forwards... right into the Dark Forest.

With panic in my eyes, I looked around me and tried to find any track of light. Without success, which caused my mouth to open itself and start panting softly.

Where was I? I didn't find the answer when I turned around, I didn't find it when I turned to the right and I still didn't know when I went left. Because after turning left, I lost absolute all kinds of sense and plopped down under a tree to let tears stream down my face.

Was it because I was lost? Because Sirius would never even notice me? At that last thought, I started crying harder, meaning it probably was that one.

'Fine!' I cried out, letting my head fall down on my knees. 'I'll admit! I love him, alright? I'm in love with Sirius Black! And it's not just a stupid school crush, like all those other twits have, no. I love him, just as Lily loves that Severus-dude.'

All of a sudden, my sniffs were interrupted by a weird sound, coming out of the bushes next to me. I immediately forgot about my Sirius-problem and crawled backwards, startled of what might stand in front of me. A centaur? A werewolf?!

None of those two. From the dark, almost black bushes – now I get the name "Dark Forest"... - walked an adorable dog, black from the top and with those large, brown, puppy eyes. I swear, I could literally feel my heart melt as it slowly walked up to me and started to cuddle up beside me. My mouth formed into an "Awh..." and I chuckled as I petted it.

'Hey there, little doggy,' I whispered to it. The dog looked up and barked shortly, assuring me it'd heard me. The grin on my lips could only grow bigger and I went on talking: 'You probably heard me speak, didn't you? Well, good to know. At least now I have someone to talk to. Or should I say; some dog?'

The dog barked yet another time, and even made me chuckle at my own sentence. 'Ah, you're a sweet thing. You know who else is sweet?' A sigh escaped my mouth and I leaned back against the tree, taking the dog next to me. 'Sirius Black.'

The cute black thing next to me looked up, his tail swinging around slowly as it studied me with its eyes. I smiled, and went on: 'That's right. Weird little Y/n here is head over heels. But would he know?'

A gust through the forest reminded me of the trees around me. The forest. The school. The popular girls. Groaning, I stood up, leaving the dog whining softly. 'Sorry, buddy. But I really have to go; if I can find a way back...' The sweet thing of a dog followed my lead and stood up, shook its body a few times and barked again, quickly walking past me as it kept on jogging further into the forest – or out of it. Since I had nothing else to do, I shrugged it off and decided to follow the dog.

It stopped a few times, looking around before it changed its direction and walked away again. We jogged around like that, just until we stopped again and I absolutely couldn't believe my eyes; we stood in front of Hagrid's cabin again!

'O, my Gosh!' I squealed, kneeling down to hug the black dog. 'You must be magical, or something! Wow, thank you buddy! I've got to go now... but I really hope I'll see you again sometime. Bye, doggy!' I shouted as I made my way back up to the castle, without looking back. If I had done that, I possibly could've seen the dog changing into a larger boy, with sly black hair that just reached his shoulders. His brown eyes gazed after me, even though I had no idea.

'Oh yes, we will meet again,' he whispered. 'And believe me, Y/n...' He bowed his head, looking down at his hands to close his eyes right after. '...I love you too. And now that I know you do too...'

A tear escaped from the corner of Sirius' eye, and found a way over his cheek.

'If only you knew...'
