A ring ~ Hogan X Newkirk

Hey there! I never planed to publish this, since I wrote it at school while I was bored. But whole_lotta_woman wanted me to publish it, so here we go! This one ist fluffy, I guess. Hope, you will like it:)

Corporal Louis LeBeau and Corporal Peter Newkirk stood together in the yard of StaLag 13, hanging out laundry. The two laughed and enjoyed the warm sunshine after the harsh German winter. Carter and a bunch of the other prisoners were playing soccer. Colonel Hogan leaned against the door of Barrack 2 and watched his men with a smile. But most of all, the English Corporal. The two were a couple, even if no one knew about it. Hogan pushed himself off the barracks wall and went to his corporals.

"Hey LeBeau. Will you excuse Newkirk for a second? I have to talk to him about something." Said the American. Louis nodded and watched the two men disappear into the barrack. They went into Hogan's office and closed the door behind them.

"Colonel Hogan." Newkirk said gravely, standing straight.

"Corporal." Hogan replied, also serious, before a smile crept onto his lips and he took a step towards him. Newkirk had to grin as well, but remained serious. "How are you today, Corporal?" Grinning, Hogan put his arms around Newkirk's neck and gently pulled him to himself. Since they were the same height, they looked each other straight in the eye. Hogan enjoyed the ice blue color, which he rarely got to see so close.

"Sir, it's okay today." Newkirk leaned in and gave Hogan a small kiss on the lips. Hogan smiled as they parted. The American slowly slipped his hand under Newkirk's blue sweater and gently stroked the Englishman's warm skin. Newkirk felt a shiver run down his spine and let out a weak groan.

"Sir." He said sinfully and grinned at the Colonel. Hogan put his hands on Newkirk's hips. Newkirk grinned a little as Hogan stared intently at Newkirk's waist. The Englishman put his hands on Hogan's neck.

"Your hips are so small." Hogan whispered. Newkirk blushed like a tomato. Hogan still didn't look up and continued to stroke gently. "I like it." He grinned.

"Colonel!" Newkirk exclaimed in mock indignation and chuckled softly. Hogan grinned and kissed him softly.

"I love you." Newkirk sighed, grinning.

"I love you too." They held each other and kissed as they sat down on the bed. Hogan held him tight but slowly reached up and pushed the blue cap off Newkirk's head. It fell to the ground and rattled loudly as it landed squarely on the gold badge. Newkirk pulled away from the kiss and looked at the floor. Hogan gently grabbed his chin.

"That was just your cap, Pete." He breathed. Newkirk smiled a little and then snuggled into Hogan's chest. The American stared at him in shock before holding him, humming. Usually, the Londoner didn't show his feelings very often. Hogan kissed his hair gently.

"When this war is over..." Newkirk said softly.

"Yes?" Hogan asked.

"What do we do then?" The Brit whispered and looked at him.

"We'll build a house together."

"Rob..." Newkirk began. "I'm with the RAF, you're with the American Air Force. You know? UK and USA..." Hogan gently stroked the back of Newkirk's head.

"I could transfer, you know?" Said the American.

"You can't." Newkirk whispered.

"Why not?"

"After the war you'll be needed as an American soldier in America." Hogan sighed.

"Not if I resign from the military." Newkirk's eyes widened.

"You can't!" He exclaimed in shock, shaking his head. He placed both hands on Hogan's cheeks and gently stroked them. "You can't." He closed his eyes. "Not because of me." He whispered softly. "I'm not worthy of you giving up your officer career." Hogan smiled a little, pushed him onto the bed and kissed him gently as he slowly lay down on top of him. The Englishman relaxed and grabbed his Colonel by the shoulders. Hogan smiled into the kiss when he saw that Newkirk had his eyes closed. The American slowly pulled away and smiled at him.

"You're worth my whole life, sweetheart." Hogan whispered. "You're worth everything to me because you're the most important thing in my life." Hogan chuckled as he watched tears form in his ocean blue eyes. "Hey. Don't cry." He smiled. Newkirk chuckled weakly and raised his hand to wipe away his tears. He smiled tearfully at Hogan.

"I don't deserve you." He chuckled softly.

"You deserve all the happiness in this world, Peter Newkirk. You deserve it more than anyone." The Englishman kissed him hard.

"I love you, Hogan." Newkirk grinned. "No one will change that. Not the boys, not the Krauts, and not this stupid war either." Hogan smiled.

"I... likewise." Newkirk started to laugh, making the American smile. The younger one didn't laugh very often and Hogan always enjoyed the sight. He kissed him again. "My mother will love you." Newkirk laughed.

"What makes you think that?"

"I told her about us in my last letter."

"You did what!?" Newkirk exclaimed in shock.

"I wrote her in a letter that we were together and I sent her a picture of you. She thinks you're cute." Newkirk flushed. "She wrote me that she thinks you're very handsome and she can't wait to welcome you into her family."

"She...She has nothing against us?" Newkirk whispered. Hogan chuckled.

"No. She just wants us to be happy." Newkirk started crying again. What was the matter with him today? "Hey. What's going on?" Hogan laughed. Newkirk sniffed and smiled at him.

"I'm so glad your mother accepts us."

"And what about yours?" Hogan asked.

"You know...I don't think she's going to like it." Newkirk murmured.

"I don't care." Hogan said firmly. "As long as we're happy." Newkirk giggled.

"Yes, but you know...after the war I have to take care of my family again. You know I'm the oldest and we're pretty much out of money." Hogan sighed softly before getting out of bed. Newkirk rose to his elbows and faced him. "Where are you going?" Newkirk asked confused. He watched as Hogan went to his desk and rummaged in the drawer. "What are you doing?" Newkirk giggled and started to get up.

"Sit down!" Hogan yelled, grinning, raising a threatening index finger. Giggling, Newkirk leaned against the wall and watched him. The American approached him a short time later and knelt on the ground in front of him. Newkirk stared at him in shock. "We've known each other for three years now and we've been together for one." Hogan began. "You make me happy and make me feel loved and I really hope I make you feel the same way. I know we can't get married, but..." Hogan reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring box with two rings. They were two simple gold rings with wavy designs. "Corporal Peter Newkirk." He said firmly, looking up at him affectionately. "Are you taking this ring as a promise? I promise you that I will always love you and will always be there for you. And I..." Newkirk frantically pulled him into a tight kiss. He had tears in his eyes and looked like the happiest man alive. Hogan smiled.

"Yes! I will! I will, Rob!" Hogan giggled and carefully took the ring out of the small box. Then he gently took Newkirk's hand and put it on his ring finger. The Englishman admired the ring in amazement. "It's beautiful." He whispered softly. Hogan kissed his cheek with a smile.

"So are you." Newkirk lifted his head and smiled at him. He then took the second ring and put it on Hogan's left ring finger.

"Colonel Robert Edward Hogan." He said smiling and beaming at him. "I promise to always be there for you and to always love you, no matter what life situation we are in. I will always stand by you." Hogan smiled at him and they kissed deeply.

*

Toward evening, as the friends sat at the main table in the barracks and LeBeau served them food, the first thing Carter noticed was a gold ring on Newkirk's left ring finger. The young American wiped his eyes in shock and blinked. Since when did Newkirk have a ring? His thoughts were running at full speed.

"Is something wrong?" Asked Newkirk, sitting across from him, smiling.

"Huh? Oh. No. Not at all." Carter mumbled, picking up his spoon to eat the soup.

"You look like you saw a ghost." Chuckled Kinch, sitting down next to him. Carter chuckled tightly. Hogan emerged from his office beaming from ear to ear.

"And? News from London?" He asked, looking at Kinch.

"Nothing." Kinchloe said, noticing a ring on Hogan's finger. He turned his head and looked questioningly at Carter, who nodded at Newkirk's finger. The Afro-American stared at him in shock. They had suspected something was happening between the two, but hadn't been sure. Shortly afterwards Schulz came into the barracks.

"The lights will be turned off in 15 minutes." The German sergeant announced before taking a deep breath. "Oh. It smells wonderful here." He enthused.

"Come on, Schulzie. Here's some soup for you." LeBeau chuckled, also handing him a bowl with a spoon. The sergeant sat down next to Kinchloe and began to eat. Hogan sighed loudly and stood up.

"I'll lie down. It's already late and I'm tired."

"Good night, mon Colonel." LeBeau said.

"Good night, boy...I mean Colonel!" Carter smiled.

"Night, Colonel." Kinchloe said too. Hogan nodded to them and walked towards his office, but stopped in front of the door. They looked at him questioningly.

"Newkirk?" Hogan asked without turning.

"Yes, sir?" Came the instant reply.

"To my office." You could catch a grin in the corners of Hogan's lips as Newkirk got up and walked towards him. Just before the door closed, the friends noticed Newkirk take Hogan's hand and saw the two rings flashing it's golden color in the office light.

THE END;)
