Virgil's P.O.V:

I woke up in the Hufflepuff dorm with a yawn. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes as I get up and put on my purple uniform. Yeah, that's right, purple. Since I wasn't  in any of the houses I got to choose my own colors and I chose to have purple. The uniform looked like all the other uniforms but instead of the traditional house colors mine had purple. 

I grabbed my wand and put it in my back pocket and walked down into the common room. Some of the other Hufflepuffs were already awake and they smiled and said good morning as I came down. I had chosen to stay with Hufflepuff since they were the nicest house. Had I stay with the Gryffindors I would probably get my ass beat, had I gone with Ravenclaw I would always be told how I didn't belong and had I gone with Slytherin I'd attract bullies who would find one more reason to pick on me. So Hufflepuff was the best idea. 

"Hey Virge!" I turned towards the voice to see Patton coming towards me with a smile on his face. "Hey Patt." I said as he came over. Patton was the only friend I had. We always hung out, unless he was with his friends. I had tried to be with them but I didn't like it much. But it was fine. I wasn't a big fan of people anyway. "Ready for breakfast?" Patton said and I nodded.

When we reached the Great Hall we sat down at the Hufflepuff table and started eating. The Hall was quite empty since it was kinda early in the morning. It was only Ravenclaws and the Hufflepuff early birds who were there. I drank my apple juice as a boy with rectangular glasses, straight black hair and the Ravenclaw colors on his tie walked over to us. 

"Salutations Patton." the boy said. Patton's face lit up. "Oh! Good morning Logan!" He said and gave the boy, Logan, a big smile. Logan looked at me and nodded. "Hello. I am Logan." I nodded back and said "Virgil." Logan then turned back to Patton and adjusted his glasses. "So, I was just coming to check if you will be joining Roman and myself at the dueling club after classes?" Logan said. "Oh yeah! I almost forgot about that. I'll come, but can Virgil come too?" Patton said shooting me a glance that I knew all to well. Patton thinks I need more friends so he tries to bring me along on after school activities as much as he can. 

Logan looked back at me with a cold look. "Of course, Patton. He can come if he wants to. As they say. 'the more the merrier'" he said. I had a feeling he only let me come for Patton's sake. Patton smiled and clapped his hands. "Yay! We are all gonna duel together!" 

Logan nodded and said goodbye to Patton and went back to his own house. 

~Time skip~ 

After we finished eating I went to my classes. Even though we had only started our fifth year at Hogwarts last week, our teachers had already started preparing us to take our O.W.L.S. I am not gonna lie and say that I wasn't nervous. I still didn't know what I wanted to do. But for now I just had to push my anxiety down and do the best I could. 

"RIIINGG" The bell sounded the end of potions and i got up and left for the dueling club with Patton and his friends. I met Patton by the entrance to the classroom five minutes early. "Hey Patton." I said and he turned to face me. "Oh! Hey Virgil! The others will be here soon. Wanna wait for them inside?" Patton said as I came closer. I nodded and we went into the classroom. 

The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom was sometimes used for after school clubs like dueling and extra spell casting practice. The desks had all been moved  away to make room on the floor for dueling.  A man who looked like was in his late twenties was standing with his back turned while waving his wand to make things float around the room. 

"Hi, Mr. Sanders!" Patton said, causing Mr. Sanders to jump. "Oh! Hey Patton! Please call me Thomas." He said and tucked his wand behind his ear as he walked towards us.

Thomas looked at me with brilliant smile. He had brown hair swept to the side and he had bright brown eyes. "You must be Virgil! Pleased to meet you! I'm Thomas Sanders but you can call me Thomas." He said as he held out his had. "I'm Virgil Grim." I said as I shook his hand. "We are gonna have a lot of fun this year!" Thomas said. Just then, a boy with Chestnut brown hair and his Gryffindor tie hanging loosely around his neck walked into the room with Logan following shortly after. "Greetings Patton and Thomas!" the boy said as he came over. "Hi Roman!" Patton and Thomas said at the same time. 

Thomas clapped his hands together. "Well! Since we are such a small group today we will be dueling in pears. Let's see.... Logan and Patton and Roman and Virgil. Only stunning and disarming is allowed if you harm your opponent to much I will take away house points and give you detention. Ok? Great! Now stand facing each other!" Thomas said and we did so. Roman seemed to only now notice that I was there. He looked me up and down before taking out his wand and facing me with a determined look on his face. Oh boy.. this is gonna be fun...
