Y/N's POV
Today was an overall shitty day. (Sorry for being so blunt)

First of all, I came home after spending the weekend at my brother's place, learning that my boyfriend (now ex) was cheating on me with my best friend. Just great. Then I learn that I have been fired from the athletic trainer position at Y/Gym's/N. FOR NO REASON WHAT SO EVER! When things couldn't get worse, I learned that my dog, Y/D/N, passed away.

I was so stressed out, it was unbelieveable. I wanted to cry so badly, but I knew that wasn't going to help at all. O was way too stubborn for that. I decided to go home, then go to the ice rink by my apartment.

Whenever I was stressed, I went to the rink and took some shots and did some dangles. I have always wanted to play in for Team Canada, but a knee injury when I was younger said otherwise. Whenever I had freetime, I always played shinny or some beer league with some friends. I wasn't going to let some knee injury prevent me from doing something I love. That's why I became an athletic trainer. Maybe I could work with an NHL team someday.

Anyways, I went home to get my stuff. I brought my stick, my skates, my Oilers pom pom toque, and my Leon Draisaitl jersey. Being from Edmonton, I was always a die hard fan of the Oilers. It's how I was born and raised. The mocking never bothered me, I loved my team and that's final. Ever since Leon was drafted, he has always been my favourite player. He is a great centre that will definitely help Edmonton in the future.

Once I got to the rink, I got myself set up and started skating. I never started shooting right away. Skating around a couple of laps was always a first for me. It got me thinking and let me contemplate my thoughts. When I got angry is when I started shooting the puck. Like thinking about my boss, my dog, my ex. It gets me all riled up.

When I start shooting, you do not mess with me. One of my slap shots fractured someone's leg once. It wasn't a pretty sight.

After about ten minutes of shooting, I felt like I was being watched. I turned around to look in the bench, and I see one of my all time idols and crushes.(Yeah I have a crush on him, sue me!)

Leon's POV

Today, I was going to practice by myself at the rink today. Our coach said it would help me improve my skill set, and I was always up for that.

I went to our dressing room, getting into my usual gear. It feels kind of weird being alone. I'm used to talking with Hallsy, Ebs, Nuge, And Con before practice. Once I was walking down the tunnel, I saw a girl on the ice. She was taking shots at the net, and she looked angry. Like taking her frustration out with each shot.

However, for being so frustrated, she was so beautiful. She had stunning Y/Eye/C eyes. Her long Y/Hair/C flowed down her back. And through it, I could see that she was wearing MY jersey. It made me really happy, knowing that I am not being overshadowed by McDavid or Hall, I actually have fans that cheer for me.

I just sat on the bench and watched her. She certainly knew what she was doing, but she seemed to favour her left leg. Maybe she hurt her other one before.

While watching her, she finally turned her head and saw me. I was scared for her reaction. Would she think I was creepy?

She started skating towards me smiling, and it made me smile. It was contagious. Luckily, I was brave enough to start the conversation.y

"Hi, I'm Leon! What's your name?" I asked.
"My name is Y/N." She replied shyly.
"Wow. What a beautiful name for a beautiful lady."
She smiled, saying, "Do you say that to every girl you meet?"
"No, in fact, you are the first one."
She laughed, and it was music to my ears.
"Thank you, I feel honoured."
"Don,t worry, you deserved it."

And we kept going on and on, and I kept falling harder and harder.

Y/N POV

Leon and I kept talking forever. You would have never guessed we just met each other, we had so much in common. It made me forget about all of my troubles. But then I realized that I had to go find another job, and quickly.

"I'm sorry Leon, I have to go now."
"Awww, why?"
"I have to make a resume for a new job, I got laid off."
"I'm so sorry Y/N! What did you work as?"
"I was an athletic trainer at Y/Gym's/N."
"Leon looked happy, then said,"The Oilers need a new athletic trainer, I could recommend you."
"Are you serious Leon!? Thank you so much!"
"I went to hug him, and he was so... for a lack of a better word, huggable. Like a teddy bear. When we separated, he asked me for my number, which I kindly gave him. When we were done, I looked him dead in the eye, and said,
"Race you onto the ice."

We both had so much fun, I will never forget it.

Right after he did something that absolutely shocked me.

He said," Y/N, will you go on a date with me?"
"Of course I will Leon!"
I jumped into his arms, and reminisced what just happened.

My crush asked me on a date. And I thank every single thing that made me stressed today for it. Without it, this wouldn't have happened.
I guess when life gives you struggles, you get rewarded for them, and I am forever grateful.

Today was an overall great day.
