Imagine: Giving Your Life To Save Thorin.
(Phoenix)
You have been with the company since Bagg-end and you fell like the whole company has become you family. You have become close to the dwarven brothers Fili and Kili and view then as if they were your own brothers. But the one Dwarf you seemed to have started to grew fond of, Thorin Oakenshield.
Over the course of the quest to reclaim Erebor, you have fallen completely in love with the dwarven king. But you always knew there was no place in his heart for you, so you decided it would be best if you kept your feelings to yourself.
" Thorin!" You called as you walked up to the throne in Erebor. Thorin was sitting there with his chin placed in his hand as he watched your every movement up to him.
" Y/n? What can I do for you, friend?" He asked. Friend, that is all you will ever be to him you thought as your eyes dropped to the ground. You hand on the hilt of you sword sitting on your right hip.
" I came to inform you that once the kingdom is safe and the Arkenstone is found..." You begin and lift your gaze to look at the king, your king. "I will be leaving."
" Leaving? To where?" Thorin asked and you could have sworn you heard a small amount of upset within his voice.
" Yes, I will go back to wondering the plains again." You stated and you continued to look at Thorin.
" But your home is here. Your family is here." Thorin said standing up and walking down the stairs slowly towards you. You shake your head and drop your gaze once again to the ground with a heavy sigh.
" I have no home, Thorin. I belong out there, in Middle Earth. Wondering." You spoke as he stopped in front of you.
" Y/n, please stay here. You will have everything you desire." Thorin spoke as you shook your head hearing his words, tears brimming your eyes.
" Not everything..." You whisper, Thorin was about to answer when Kili came rushing over to them with a frantic look on his face.
" Uncle! The elves and men have gathered outside the gates demanding they speak with you!" He told Thorin. Thorin watches as you sighed and straighten you back before turning around and walking away towards the gate. Once at the top you see a sea of golden elven armor before you.
" Lady Y/N! Where is your king? I hope he can peel himself away from his gold to speak to us." Thranduil called out to you as you glared at him.
" You may be a King, Thranduil. But do not forget that he is one too." You hissed down to him as Thorin walked over to the edge next to you. But was still out of view from below.
" Then why do you not go back in there and bring him out, he will listen to his concubine." Thranduil grinned to you causing you to feel the rage bubble inside of you.
" You will watch how you speak to my friends, sprite!" Thorin growled deeply at his insult to you as he stepped over. You watch him and take a step back and tune out of their loud conversation. You could not help but think about the king before you and how you will never get to give him your love for he will never return it. The one thing you could never do is watch him fall in love with another, that is why you have decided to leave.
" Will you have peace, or war?" Bard asked snapping you from your dreaming. You watched as a crow landed next to Thorin.
" I will have war." Thorin growled so deeply you knew who this was, was not the dwarf you fell in love with. No, this dwarf was full of greed, hate and anger. You turned around and walked back down the stairs unable to look at the dwarf you love, a single tear fell down you cheek as you past Balin. Balin looked to Throin before following after you as you stopped in a room not too far from the gate.
" Y/n, I know that it is hard seeing him like this. But you have too hold on. He will come around." Balin spoke behind you as you looked to him and shook your head.
" I cannot watch him do this to himself, Balin. It hurts too much." You whisper looking to the old dwarf.
" Love can hurt, y/n. But it tests you and you have to pull through it. Thorin loves you, he just does not know how to show it." Balin spoke as you shook your head with a smile.
" No, master Balin. That is were you are wrong. Thorin does not return my feelings and he never will." You whisper to Balin before turning you gaze to a random spot in front of you. "That is why when all is said and done, I will be leaving."
" Where will you go?" Balin asked shaking his head softly.
" I don't know, I will wonder and see where I end up." You whispered as the other dwarfs walked over and explained that there is a large war between the elves, men, dwarves and orcs happening outside and Thorin has ordered them not to get involved. You growled lowly and marched off to find the king. You find him standing on the mountains of gold looking around.
" Thorin! You cannot be serious! You are staying hidden behind these walls while other people lose their lives for you?" You yelled angrily at him as he looked at you.
" You will watch how you speak to me." Thorin spoke dangerously low.
" What? You will throw me from the ramparts as well?" You yelled at him and he did not reply.
" I am going out there to fight your battle Thorin. If you have any form of feeling for my. You will go out there and help your people." You hissed and turned around walking away from the dwarf who was yelling out your name but you ignore him and walked to the gate.
" Y/n? Where are you going?" Fili asked as he watched you march towards the gate.
" To war." Was all you said as you made your way towards the gate and then the battle field. You fought for a while and knew that the elves, men and dwarves were becoming over powered and would soon loose this battle unless a miracle happened soon. You were anger and upset that Thorin had not heeded your words and joined you on the battle field.
" Lord Dain! We need to rally back!" You called to him as he swung his heavy hammer.
" Aye lass! Fall back! Fall back to the mountain!" Dain yelled as the dwarves backed up away from the orcs and created a wall between the orcs and the mountain. You stand next to Dain with you elvish sword in hand ready to attack.
" Where the hell is Thorin?" Dain growled next to you.
" I hate to say this, but I believe we are alone in this fight, Lord Dain." You tell him and he sighs.
" We have no way of winning this." Dain spoke with a sad smile.
" Maybe not. But I will go down trying!" You grinned as Dain nodded and yelled to his men. They all formed a wall of shields again and waited from the trolls and orcs to attack. Just then, a horn sounded from behind you and you turned your head to see Bombur blowing into a massive horn. You smile as you realise that Thorin is finally back. Just then silence fell before the stone wall was knocked down by a massive golden bell. The company ran out behind Thorin as the iron hill's dwarves moved so the company could get through. You joined in next to Thorin and ran towards the orcs with a smile. It did not take long before you wound up at the top of Ravenhill with Thorin, Fili, Kili and Dwalin. You stood just in front of Thorin looking over the landscape for any signs of Orcs.
" I see nothing. Its like he has disappeared." You spoke out and turned back to Thorin, your sword clutched tightly in your right hand. You clothes were soaked in orcish blood from the battle that still raged on below.
" Right. Fili take your brother and scout out..." Thorin began but you shook your head to him.
" Thorin, I have a bad feeling about this. Keep Fili and Kili here with you and Dwalin. I will go and scout out." You said with a determined look on your face causing Thorin to sigh as he grabbed your upper arm gently and pulled you away from the other three.
" No, Y/N. I cannot loose you." Thorin spoke lowly so the others could not hear.
" Thorin, you need Fili and Kili to be safe. They are the future of Erebor and If they die along with you, who will run the mountain?" You spoke with a determined look on your face. "They are young and have a future to live. Do not let that be taken unfairly in battle."
" You are always right." Thorin sighed placing his forehead onto yours. "You will make a great queen." Thorin spoke as you blushed.
" Queen?" You asked slightly confused.
" When this is all over. I want you to be the one sitting next to me in Erebor. I want you as my queen and to have our children." Thorin whispered and you smiled with a deep blush. Thorin pulled away and you both looked at each others eyes.
" I would want nothing more." You smiled to him and you nodded. "But right now we have a war to win and lives to keep." You whisper to him.
" Promise me you will stay safe and come back to me." Thorin whispered as you nodded and turned around ready go out scouting.
" Y/N!" Fili yelled to you, you stopped and turned to face the four dwarves you have grown to love as family over the past months. "Stay safe." He spoke and you nodded before running off. You rush through the tunnels that where deadly silent trying to figure a way around the place. You stopped in a split of three tunnels in front of you and debate which way you should go when you here you name being called by Thorin. It sounded stressed and full of panic before the sound of drums began to beat. You look at the tunnels in front of you and see them light up in an orange glow. You turn around and and instantly met with the one and only pale Orc, Azog. He was smirking down at you as you went to swing your sword at hit, but he took the upper hand and slammed your body into the wall causing you sever disorientation. You slipped down the wall unable to stay standing.
" So you are the one the dwarf loves?" He growled before you black out. You re-awoke to find yourself on Azog's shoulder.
" Thorin Oakenshield! I have someone you might be interested in seeing." Azog growled in black speech. You where thrown onto the ground with a heavy thud before you felt a foot being pressed on your chest.
"Y/N!" Thorin cries as the pressure increases and you struggle to breathe. Your strength slowly comes back as you began to struggle to take the foot off you chest.
"Now watch as I take away the first one of those you love." He hissed before you felt something cold penetrating your skin where your stomach was. The world seemingly froze as the cold blade was twist and you let out a gurgle of pain.
" NO!" You hear many different people yell out as they watched the now blooded blade being ripped out from your stomach. The world become quiet and still with just the breath of wind, you left your head fall to you right so you could see your friends. They were distraught at the sight of you dying by the pale Orcs hands. A single tear falls from your eye as you watch a new battle take place between a hand full of goblins, orcs and the dwarves. While Thorin went straight for Azog. You watch as the battle continued silently in front of you, but when you saw Azog pin down Thorin. A new strength appeared within you as you pushed yourself to your feet shakily. You clutched your stomach as blood oozed out, you pushed your feet forwards and ran at Azog. You let out a howl as your body collided with large Orc, sending him flying through the air with you. You reached down into your boot and pulled out a hidden knife and just as Azog landed on the ice, You pressed the thin blade into his heart.
" I will be the only life you take from him." You growled as you press and twist, killing him instantly. But what you never saw was that Azog had also managed to stick his blade into you chest as well.
" Y/N?" You heard Thorin whisper in surprise. You grip Azog's blade tightly, slicing you hand as you pulled the blade from you chest with a moan of pain. Your breathing staggers as you stand up looking down. You looked to the sky as you stagger back a few steps before your knees buckled. A set of warm and comforting wrapped tightly around you before you could hit the ground. Your eyes met with the blue orbs you had fallen deeply in love with.
" Y/N? Its alright. Your going to be fine." Thorin spoke desperately trying to stem the bleeding from your stomach and chest as you lay on his lap. You smiled softly before you placed you hand on to one of his and pulled it away from your stomach wound.
" I- I lo-ove y-you, Thorin." You stutter as you struggled to breath. Thorin's eyes fill with tears as you continued to smile softly and full of love to him.
" We have to get you to a healer." He spoke before you shook your head.
"N-no. I-it's t-too late..." You tell him. "My time... has come." You whispered your eyes growing heavy with each second.
" No, you promised me. Y-you promised you would come back to me." Thorin spoke with a cracking voice.
" I'm s-sorry. B-but that promise... I cannot keep." You said breathlessly as your eyes closed but then opened again to see Thorin crying.
" Please don't leave me." He whispered to you.
" And I never will. E-even thought I am n-not there in person. I will be there in spirit. Until your time comes from old age." You whispered as your cough from struggling to breath.
" I love you, Thorin Oakenshield. I truly do." You whisper as your eyes close and your breath dies.
" And I love you, more than life." Thorin whispered kissing your forehead before bursting into tears and hugged your body as close as he could get. Soon the company had arrived and began mourning over you as your body grew colder within Thorin's embrace, a faint smile painted on you lips.
The next day they held your funeral where harps where play and horns where sung. A large feast was held in Erebor and Dale, celebrating the Queen of Erebor, who gave her life to protect it and its people. Stories were passed down and songs where sung about your bravery and honer in both battle and in death. Thorin was never able to get over your death, but continued your wish to rule under the mountain until age took him. Where upon leaving for the afterlife, you are once again united back together.
