Chapter 2: A big mistake
I got into my jimmies and made myself a warm cup of coffee. Winter was near and it had already started to get dark early in the evening. I took out my blanket and crashed onto my sofa.
"Maybe I should talk to her more." I said to myself.
As I was taking last sip of my coffee, I decided to check my notifications. A day before, I had made an account on this reading site called "Wattpad". Although I didn't think that I followed anyone, I received a message with a link. It was a link to a book called "HIX HIX HIX". I don't have a large vocabulary and it would take me two seconds to search on google, so I googled it.
"Your search HixwilltakeplaceonHaileyBailey did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
Make sure that all words are spelled correctly.
Try different keywords.
Try more general keywords."
I wasn't concerned until I saw the error message closely.
The name I use to sign up for everything is Leah Bailey. Only my childhood enemies called me Hailey (as it sounds strange with Bailey) and I don't think that they would still remember it. And I had just searched for the meaning of HIX, what did it mean by "Hix will take place on Hailey Bailey?"
I closed and opened and reopened and researched, but all in vain. I was very curious about the word now, so I decided to have a look at it on Wattpad. There was no Prologue, no acknowledgment. No synopsis neither any Author's Notes. Just a plain old story name followed by a story. I had no plans for the rest of the evening so I started to read...
Mistake: HIX I
David was a single father. He owned a big house and lived in it with his five-year daughter, Samara.
He was severely insomniac. Medications would help but they would make him hallucinate.
This one night, after taking his medications, he was arranging his office desk. He heard a knock on the door. Thinking that he was hallucinating, he ignored the knock. Then there was another knock. He went to the door and opened it. No one was there.
When he turned his back towards the door, he started hearing screeching sounds coming from behind the door. He grabbed his baseball bat and swung the door open.
There stood Samara. She glared at David.
He thought that maybe she couldn't sleep as well, it was a cold winter night anyway. So, he picked her up and tucked her in her bed and put his pet with her. Just then, he heard another sound. This time, he quietly took his gun out scanned the hallway. No one was in sight. So, he rushed downstairs to the kitchen.
There was a dwarf figure standing by the counter, playing with knives.
"It's enough." He shot the figure it fell down. He ran back to Samara's room to make sure that she was safe. He opened the door and saw a man in a white robe eating the flesh of David's pet. He dropped the gun which made the monster notice him. After showing a bloody grin, the man got down from the bed slowly and ran to David.
