Chapter 1: Philippe

The night was long for Philippe. The cold winds made the darkness seem softer. To her, the only safe place used to be her bed.

The fact that you are loved if you find a blanket over you by the morning when you had slept with none, made her believe that something really sinister was hating on her.

Born in Bourgeoise, France, she came to New Hampshire to complete her graduation. Her adult life began in the hostel of her college, The Greenvines Academy of Philosophical Arts (aka GAPA).

She was my half-sister and this our story.

I am Hailey Bailey.

Yes, I know exactly what you are thinking. I use Leah Bailey everywhere as my name (as long as it's not anything official). I was the type of girl who would spend hours and hours on reading about conspiracy theories and horror stories and accounts of real-life ghost investigations and what not. I would play games that scare people away. Ouija board was a joke to me, though. No matter how much I loved the unknown, I knew that there was no such thing as the other side.

Moreover, after digging deeper and deeper and after a million steps of personal realizations, I had come to a conclusion that I had to stop feeding my mind what I knew was not real. And co-incidentally, this time exactly overlapped with the time of arrival of Philippe to my city. We were not on very good terms at that time. I mean, what else would you expect from a relationship between two people who live continents apart?

We didn't talk to an extent that I didn't even think of inviting her to live with me in my apartment and let her live in the boring hostel of her college.

Anyway, I met her the day she arrived here. We went to a restaurant to talk about her future plans.

Well, I wasn't being very honest when I told you that I didn't think to invite her to live with me. It was just that, I didn't know her yet. And my apartment was the plainest piece of accommodation you will ever see. I bought it when I was still interested in the creepy stuff and an idea of buying a typical two-roomed apartment (in which someone who worked 9 to 5 would live) would make me jump of excitement. You know, almost all the horror stories are set up in houses of this nature...

The meet-up with Philippe made me learn a lot about her. Half or not, she was my sister, and it showed. I was someone she wanted guidance from in this new city. We exchanged our phone numbers and I dropped her to her hostel. Something in me said that we were going to meet again soon. She waved to me a very confused goodbye.
