11 || His Cold Glare and His Blank Frown
Hitomi's POV
I was at the gates, and I could see that the two guards were distracted by the ongoing Chunin Events at the big arena. From where they were standing, I could estimate that they would have a pretty clear view of the fights from up above. I felt lucky that they were distracted, so that I could have the chance to knock them out so they wouldn't catch me escaping.
I stood low on the ground, and slowly and quietly made my way behind them. Before they could react, I swiftly swiped my hand across both of their shoulders. I focused my fire chakra and one Hyuga technique method to my
palms so that I could knock them out.
They then both fell to the ground, but still alive. My attack would only last for an hour or so, plenty of time to run away.
I whispered a quiet sorry as I stood back up straight and started running off into the distance. I made sure not to make my bag move at all, for it would probably cause a headache for poor Hidan.
Now I was headed off to the Village of the Sand, which was very far and would take me hours to get there. I had already estimated that I would probably get there at nighttime if everything went well. Also, I have prepared to have the endurance for that, for I have trained for it and have eaten much carbohydrates during the past few days. It would give me enough energy to run that long...hopefully.
And now all I had to do was run through the trees and hope that nobody would be on my trail.
~•~
The moon was high up in the sky now, stars glazing the dark with a pattern of twinkling white dots. It was beautiful to look at, especially because all I have seen were the road and trees so far today. I always loved nighttime, for it was so peaceful and relaxing to just stare off into space and at the moon.
Though I was calm mentally, I was not so physically. I was tired and worn out, and my legs felt as if they were on fire. I knew the Sand Village was close now...but I needed to gain back some energy just in case I would come across anybody I would need to take care of.
So I slowed down my pace, my feet aching with every step. I was out of breath, but not sweating. I came to a complete stop once I had caught my breath. I stood still for a while, quiet and frozen in the shadows of the trees.
Then I slid my bag off of my shoulders, lifting what felt like a hundred pound rocks off of my sore shoulders. I sat down and leaned against a tree, resting.
I opened my bag and took Hidan out of it. I also grabbed a couple of solider pills so that Hidan and I could regain energy quicker.
I placed the silver headed ninja on my lap as I popped the pills into my mouth. The earthiness and graininess of it was unpleasant...but it had benefits that I needed.
My eyes drifted towards Hidan as his purple eyes glared into mine. He looked a lot better than the last time I had seen him...maybe getting oxygen helped his healing abilities work. Still, he looked bad. I could tell he couldn't speak, for his lips were parched and dryer than sand.
I took a water bottle out and held his head upright against my elbow. I slowly tilted the bottle of water into his mouth as he started gulping it down furiously. And no longer than two minutes the bottle was empty. I put the bottle down as Hidan regained his voice.
"Who," he coughed softly, "the hell are you? And why did you kidnap me from my holy hole?"
His voice was hoarse but understandable. I could tell that he would be able to speak clearly tomorrow or sooner. I just hoped he wouldn't use his voice in a bad way.
"Hitomi Uchiha. And I took you with me because I need you to protect me for a couple of years during an important mission of mine."
His eyes widened as his mouth formed a wide frown. The look in his eyes told me, "You crazy idiot child, hell no I'm following you around for a couple of years!"
"Wait, Uchiha?!" he said loudly, "What now, are you one of those annoying assholes that pretend there freakin Uchiha just so they could be fancy?"
"No." I shook my head. "My father is Sasuke Uchiha and my mother is Hinata Hyuga. I know you were partners with him and Itachi, correct?"
"Well yeah, Sasuke was a dramatic bitch and Itachi was also an annoying bitch. I'm guessing your a bitch too?"
I felt my eye twitch as I restrained any emotion showing on my face. A frown appeared on my face as I ignored the comment he made about my family.
"As I said you will accompany me for a couple of years. In return, I will give you a new body, weapon, and clothes. I will supply you with food and make sure you will get your revenge on the Nara Clan. Also, don't you dare think about killing me. I will seal you before you get the chance to even scratch me."
The word Nara triggered something inside of Hidan. His eyes were now filled with a fiery rage and vengeance, anger tinting his face red.
"Shikamaru..." he growled, his eyes widening, "I swear I'll rip him into teeny tiny pieces as he watched his family burn down into ashes. He'll feel so much fucking pain he will BEG for mercy!"
He glared at me with a maniacal smile.
"I'LL DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AS LONG AS YOU GIVE ME A DAMN BODY AND WEAPON."
A smile curled onto my lips as I celebrated in my head. This was good...a big step in my mission. With Hidan back to his full health and a body I could stay protected until I do not need him no more.
Hidan looked at me as his smile began to fade from his tired face. Annoyance began to replace his insane expression.
"Stop smiling," he said, "you look like that goddamn weasel. And stop looking at me too, it's scary how much you look like Sasuke."
My eyes widened as a tightness grew in my chest. My smile went away, bitterness replacing it.
"Don't say that to me," I hissed coldly, glaring daggers at Hidan, "Don't tell me I look like my uncle and father. And I swear if you make fun of my family again I'll throw you into a even deeper and darker hole again."
He squinted his eyes at me as he looked away. The anger bubbling in my body began to simmer down as the picture of my father went away.
"Jesus, don't have to be such a bitch about it."
I took a deep breath and shoved down three shoulder pills down Hidan's throat. I no longer felt bad that he was in a bad condition.
He choked as I placed his head on the ground and picked up my bag again. I swiftly scooped up Hidan and put him under my arm.
"Be quiet now." I blankly said, "Because were going to have to get you a body now."
And with that, we were headed off to the nearby Sand Village.
AN// All of the following above is true, including the fact that Hidan is still indeed alive. Also, when Hidan said Hitomi looked like "that weasel" he meant that her smile looked like Itachi's. Itachi means weasel in Japanese.
