Chapter One
Y/N POV
"It's been a great 4 wonderful years of high school with these young seniors. I'm sure they will all grow into mature adults to find their way in the pack...." I sigh with my head turning down to the floor, no longer wishing to listen to the alphas speech. Everyone in my year has found their rank through their wolves, but I don't have a wolf, I'm human. It makes me feel left out in some way. Even though I've been given a job working with my mum, which I'm grateful for the opportunity it is my dream job to work with children. I just wish I was like everyone else in this pack even though I'm not treated any different than the rest of them. I just couldn't do the senior year test to determine their wolves rank as yet again I'm human.
I'm cut out of my thoughts when someone nudges my right arm with their elbow "pst are you dozing off again?" I shook my head and smiled at her "how did you guess?" I chuckled. She looked at me in disbelief "did you really just ask me that? I'm your best friend of course I would notice, your eyes were doing that shaking thing they do, it's like your not even with us" she stared right into my eyes and I stare back into her dark brown eyes as my smile widens.
"Hey I'm her best friend too!" A harsh whisper comes from the other side of me with a slap on my thigh. I roll my eyes, I know what's coming next, the bickering. They're both my best friends, more like older sisters, they're very protective. I think it's because I'm human so they constantly bicker about who's better but it doesn't probably help they're both daughters of the alpha and beta of the pack. It's been us three against the world we've know each other all our lives as our fathers constantly work together. My father is the delta.
Hayoon rolls her eyes as I do at minjis childish behaviour and tucks her short blonde hair behind her ear "calm down minji, I never said you weren't, jeez. Can we not go one day with out your childish comments." Oh no she didn't.
They may bicker like this but they really love each other like sister, I guess that's why we get along so well.
I slightly widen my eyes a little and pout my lips. I know what's coming next another comment. Minji leans forward over me closer to hayoon, her long brown hair brushing against my shoulder "oh yeah !!!" She said louder than I think she intended to. Before she could even say anything else a cough interrupted her sentence. We all looked ahead to the main stage, were the alpha, minjis father had been standing giving her speech. He stood there staring straight at minji, hands on hips, foot tapping and eyes glowing red. Minji was in big trouble. We all knew it, as alpha he was not to be interrupted, even by his daughter. Minji stared back at her father with fear in her eyes. Her father wouldn't actually hit her for her to be fearful, his presence alone would frighten some pack members because of status.
I think they were mind linking, a think all pack members can do that with each other, if they open it within their minds. I don't know too much about it, as I can't do it myself so I guess I won't fully know.
Minji looked down breaking eye contact with her father and he proceeded to continue his speech. I nudged her with a chuckle basically to cheer her up and tell her she was going to be ok. If I could mind link her I would but I can't and I'm pretty sure hayoon was doing that right now too. Minji turned to me and hayoon with a slight smile and nodded, not wanting to saying anything in case she gets in trouble again.
The three of us link arms, as the alphas speech was coming to an end with the final information about the seniors pack celebration in the main village center. Everyone's invited to the celebration, it's one big pack party.
We squeeze each other's arms tightly waiting "....again I would like to congratulate the senior year of officially graduating!! Now the celebrations can now begin!!" The three of us jump into the air from our seats screaming with excitement. We've done it we finally graduated away from that hell hole of a high school and are now moving in to better things.
The three of us hold hands and form a circle jumping circles screaming "we did it, we did it" we did this a few times. We started giggling once we were done and started talking about the senior celebration. I looked behind minji to see her father approaching along with woojin, minjis mate. He graduated a year before we did. He works beside minjis father as he's going to be the next alpha of the pack so he constantly follows minjis father like a shadow. Before I can even tell her that they're coming, she lifts her nose in the air and take in a few breaths of air before spinning on her heels and running towards woojin with open arms. She practically jumps on him but he luckily caught her in mid air. Thank god, that would of been a disaster. I stare at them in awe, I'm kind of jealous she's got someone like that, someone she's destined to be with for the rest of her life. I think I'm destined to be alone for the rest of my life. If every wolf has a destined mate then what are the chances of me ever finding someone. I know hayoon hasn't found her mate yet so it's me and her being the singleton duo right now.
I look behind me to see hayoon talking with her parents and younger brother. Her father patting her on the back with a proud face and a smile wrinkling his face. Her mother hugging her like there's no tomorrow. I can see we're hayoon gets her looks from, her mother and herself look like twins. Her mother looks very good for her age. Hayoon brother, benji he looks bored out of his mind, he must be playing a game on his phone as his full attention is on the screen of his phone. I giggled at him, he really loves playing games. I wish I had siblings sometimes, I grew up an only child. I use to constantly beg my parents for a sibling but they always said I was their one and only, they didn't need anymore children. I was their miracle child. I'm not their biological child but they have raised me as their own and I couldn't imagine having any other parents. I love them deeply, I've had the best life I could have ever dreamed off. It's just the thoughts of being the only human that get me down. It's no one else's fault but my own for feeling this way.
I shrug off my thoughts and start looking for my own parents. Right now it's hard to see as there are so many people in their own family groups surrounding their children. I push onto my tip toes to try and spot them, being small is not really ideal in this situation. I climb onto my seat I had once sat on and took a better look around the crowd. My eyes scanning everywhere until I see a head popping out the crowd jumping up and down on the spot, waving their arms in the air "PUDDING!!!!!" A voice boomed through the crowd. No doubt that's my dad. He used his delta voice to get people to move out the way. Usually I would sigh and roll my eyes at his childish behaviour and his nick name for me, but today I'm far to happy to care. I heard laughing behind, which as I could tell was the alpha laughing at his best friend being childish in front of all theses people that look up to him as third in charge. To see my dad act this way in public was a rare sight, he only acts this way around family and his best friends, behind close doors as they would say. I guess today my dad is too excited to care.
I laughed at the sight of my dad skipping through the crowd to get to me, pulling my mum along with her. My mum has her face covered with her free hand, hiding from embarrassment but it didn't stop her from laughing though.
I jumped off my chair and ran towards my dad and dove straight into his embrace and my face buried into his chest. He immediately wrapped his arms around me and laughed even more than he was before. "My little pudding is all grown up, I can't believe it" he lets go of me and pretends to wipe a fake tear. My mum smacks his chest and smiled at me wrapping her arms around me "oh my dear. This day has come too fast. Your still my baby" we stay in embrace for a little while until a certain whining man next to us interrupts "hey, I'm here too you know" I laughed at my dad and let go of my mum. He must be in a really good mood today to act this way. He was already gaining some serious weird looks from the other pack members. "Homey you do realise we're in a public place. You need to calm down, people are already looking at you in a funny way" my mum reminded him. My dad instantly straighted his composure and coughed bringing out a serious expression and stared back at the people that were just staring at him in disbelief. They instantly turned away. I shook my head and smiled at him "don't worry dad you only have to act like this until we get back home" I patted his shoulder. My dad winked back at me before turning to leave to walk back home. I proceed to follow him linking arms with my mum, before turning and shouting bye to minji and hayoon. We plan on meeting later on at the celebration.
Our house was a good ten minute walk from the high school grounds, that held our graduation ceremony. My dad leading us the way through the trees on the little dirt path my dad had created to make easier for me to walk to and from the village. When I was younger I use to get lost quite a bit. The house is a family home that gets past on from generations, so usually being a wolf you could sniff out the village but I couldn't so my dad made the path for me so it was easier.
We reach the family home, smelling the flowers that surrounded the house. My mother planted them when I was young, it was a little bonding time between us.
As we got closer to the house my dad haunted in his steps, causing my mum and myself to walk into his back. "Dad what the hell.," he turned his head slightly to the left and shushed me. I didn't have to say anything more, I could tell by his tone and his tense body he wasn't protective mode. My mum held tighter onto my arm and grabbed my hand pulling me closer. A rustle noise came from the trees next to the house and I instantly froze. Who would be coming out the trees beside the house? No one that we know comes through the trees, they all use the path, which only means one thing. They're not from this pack. A growl erupts from my dads chest, fist balled up. It was soon followed by a smaller growl from my mum, still holding onto me tight, eyes fixed on the rustle noise.
"Hey Jiho! Calm down it's only us!" A mans feels came from behind the trees before a tall mans with black thinning hair cane forward with hands up in surrender. My dad instantly relaxed his body and sighed, my mum followed his actions but still had her arm wrapped around mine. "Oh Minho don't do that. We were expecting something worse" my dad stepped towards the man that was now walking towards us followed by a woman that was the same height but had long braided brown hair.
I stood in place with my mum watching the two strangers shake hands with my dad, smiling at one another. How do they know each other, I've never met them before. Usually other wolves from other pack members have to go through the alpha first and walk through the main entrance to the village. So for them to come this way they must be well known to my dad and the alpha.
I'm starting to feel a little nervous. I usually do around other wolves that are not in the same pack I live in. I don't know how they would be with me being human. It's a trust thing. I know some wolves hate humans as there are hunters out there that are human. They been around since wolves were created. I look at the woman talking with my dad, she looked quite pretty. She must of felt my gaze as she dragged her attention away from my dad to look at me. I smiled awkwardly at her and waved, I can at least me friendly. She smiled back at me then said something to my dad, I can't hear what she said as my hearing from the distance they're at, isn't very good. My dad turned around to me and motioned for me and my mum to come forward "pudding come here and my friends" I nodded at my dad and began to walk towards them with my mum. If he can call me pudding around these strangers then they must be close. The stranger woman's eyes never left me, she was following my every move and to be honest I felt a little uncomfortable.
We approached my dad and I stood right next to him, our arm brushing against each other. He could sense I was a little nervous "pudding, these strangers here, are my friends Mr and Mrs Kang" he enthusiastically said the word "strangers". The stranger man laughed at my dads words. I bowed and reached out my hand towards "it's nice to meet you Mr and Mrs Kang" the man bowed back and took my hand first and shook it "please y/n call me minho, mr Kang makes me sound old" he greeted with a wide smile. He's got a warm aura about him. I might like him he seems similar to my dad. He let go of my hand and turned towards my dad "oh Jiho you know we've been busy with the boys they're very hectic other wise we'd be here more often" he laughed. My dad chuckled slightly but his eyes wondered to me then back to Minho. He was giving a eye signal to minho about something. I know my dad very well, he's hiding something, something he doesn't want me to know, but minho didn't say anything out of order. I just assume he's got sons that constantly keep him on his toes.
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion "well y/n you can call me soojin" the woman bowed and shook my hand. I think she sensed my confusion by the look I was giving my dad and she wanted to chase my thoughts away. I smiled at her and she smiled back leaning forward "it's been years since we last day you I think you were about seven, maybe 8 years old when we last saw you." I don't remember her or her husband. I sadly smiled her "I'm sorry I don't remember you" she stood straight and shook her head "it's ok sweetie, you were younger then" I nodded.
I was now sitting in the kitchen on the stool by the kitchen island. I was texting hayoon and minji about tonight, I was so excited. I looked up from my phone to see my mum and soojin walking into the kitchen together giggling like school girls. My mum started making some tea and coffee. The coffee was probably for my dad.
After we all walked into the house all four grown ups walked into my dads office. One place in the house I'm not aloud to go into other than their bedroom. It's off limits and it's soundproof so I couldn't hear anything even if I wanted to. They're probably talking business between packs or something and my dads taking orders from the alpha to do this on his behalf or something.
I watched my mum pour the coffee and tea into four different cups "so y/n do you have a boyfriend?" I was caught off guard by the sudden question. I choked on air and looked back at soojin "no I've never had a boyfriend. It just didn't seem right with anyone. Plus I'm human and everyone I know is coming to age to find their mate. I'm not like you so I'll never have one" I looked down at my phone in my hands. I heard my mum sigh, she already knows what I think about this whole mate thing and dying alone in this world. She totally doesn't agree with me and tells me there's someone out there for me but I'm not convinced. I saw soojin coming closer to me in the corner of my eye and she grabs my shoulders to force me to face her "trust me y/n there's someone out there for you. Just because your human doesn't mean there isn't a wolf out there for you" she let go of my shoulders and stared into my eyes. I was confused once again, who said I'd be with a wolf I could be with a human to right, it would make sense. Why would a wolf be destined to spend their days with me? I furrowed my eyebrows "how would I be mated to a wolf if I'm human, it would make sense if I was with another human" soojin scoffed "y/n humans have been mates to werewolves too, it's not common in fact it's quite rare. I would say the human would be lucky to have a loyal partner for the rest of their lives" I was quite shocked by that fact. My mum took a step forward "soojin..." my mum warned her. We both heard her but chose to ignore her, it's the first time I've ignored her, I'm too interested in this conversation "so I could be mates to a werewolf ?" I beamed with excitement. Soojin crosses her arms and nodded with a smile spread across her face "yes you could, in fact I believe you're quite special, I really think you'll have more than one" my eyes widen out my head. What more than one is that even possible? Before I could even ask my mother shouted "soojin!! Stop!!" I haven't heard my mum shout like that in years. It's was as if she was disciplining a child. Soojin raised her hands in surrender and walked back to my mum and took the tray of coffee and teas. She refused to look back at me as she walked past me and out the kitchen.
My mum sighed and pushed up her glasses that were falling down her face. She shook her head as if she was escaping her own minds thoughts and walked around the kitchen island to me and kissed me on the forehead before slightly smiling and exiting the kitchen back to my dads office. I sighed and looked down at my phone. I think I better go and get ready for this celebration.
I just finished picking my clothes before I heard my dad shouting on me by my nickname of course. I left my room and ran down the stairs.
I was greeted by the four adults in the living room area. It looked like they were all saying goodbye to one another. Soojin saw me and instantly opened her arms to me. I gladly ran into her arms, I liked her she's nice and she's like another mum. Something was telling me she was to be trusted just as much as my mum, same goes for minho. I hugged him too soon after soojin let go of me. I can understand why my mum and dad would be friends with them they're wonderful people. Even though I only spent little time with them. Minho patted my head "well little one we have to get going to our sons before they burn down the house" minho chuckled. Soojin gasped "oh no! Your right minho we have to go before Namjoon burns down the kitchen" she grabbed minho by the arm and started dragging him. Minho stapled in his steps and teared soojin hand away from him arm "calm down wife, I'm sure Jin has everything under control." Soojin thought for a minute before nodding in agreement. They have sons? If they're anything like them then I'd love to meet them "you have sons? How many? Can I meet them when I next see you?" I asked in excitement jumping on my toes. Soojin giggled and Minho laughed "sure little one, you will one day all seven of them" he patted my head again. My mum and dad gave them warning looks as my dad coughed to raise an eyebrow at my dad. Minho stared back at my dad and raised an eyebrow back before shaking his head "anyway we must be going, thank you for our little chat Jiho and Hana, I hope you think about some things and we hope to see you all again soon" he turned away before winking at me. I giggled know full well he meant bringing his sons too whether my dad liked it or not. I waved at minho and soojin waved back at me fore following her husband.
A thought came into my mind, so before my mum could close the front door I sprinted out the door towards soojin "SOOJIN!!!" I belted out, running towards her so fast. She spun on her heels and confusion written on her face as she stood in place next to the trees. I ran straight into her wrapping my arms around her into a massive hug. She returned the hug wrapping her arms around my back. I buried my head into her shoulders, breathing in her scent. I don't know why but every time she comes near me or hugs me there's a smell on her that is..... comforting. I can't quite make out what it smells like as it smell of different things but all of it smells amazing. I wanted to smell her one more time before she goes, taking in big breathes in and out taking in the smell. Soojin tapped my back "y/n what are doing?" She must of noticed that I'm smelling her, she must think I'm weird. "I'm sorry, you just smell nice, it's comforting. I'm sorry if that's weird" soojin laughed and stroked my back instead "oh no y/n it's fine, I understand I smell amazing" I laughed and let go of her. I know her last comment was sarcastic. I sniffed my nose and smiled at her "it was nice seeing you both again" I looked at minho who smiled back at me. I waved at both of them before running back to the house to my mum and a dad waiting for me at the front door.
