XII. Her 'Honeymoon'

Arjun and Sanam were meant to go on their "honeymoon" by themselves, but at last minute, Neha and Rahul decided to gate-crash, saying it was only fair they have a second honeymoon since their first one had to be cut short. It wasn't that either Arjun or Sanam had a problem with that. It wasn't a real honeymoon anyway. As they had agreed, they were only going to go to not have their parents be suspicious.

Their last night in the week, they ended up in a club. Neha was surprised Sanam had easily agreed to go. She had thought she'd have to convince her for atleast ten minutes before she would give in. "How?" She demanded.

Sanam informed, "Our first day here, we were at the hotel bar."

Neha raised her brows, "You? Went to a bar? Willingly? Without anyone having to put a gun to your head?"

Sanam rolled her eyes at her friends' exaggeration. "You'd know if you hadn't ditched us." Neha did the grown-up thing and stuck out her tongue in response. They found a few empty seats at the bar. Neha took one and Sanam took the other. She turned to Arjun, "Am I allowed to get drunk today?"

He let out a chuckle, knowing how a couple days ago, he hadn't let her. "Nope, I didn't let you then, and I won't let you today. You can have a drink."

"Buzz kill." She frowned at him.

Neha downright gaped at her, "This city has changed you!"

She laughed, "No, my dear. You know I've always wanted to try. I just never had the nerve to go through with it."

The bartender asked, whose nametag read 'Chris'. "What can I get you ladies?"

"He'll have a tequila shot." Neha ordered for Rahul knowing his preference. "And just a soda for me. No alcohol."

Neha thanked him, and then he turned to Arjun and Sanam, "And you guys?"

Sanam looked at Arjun to order to her, since she didn't know enough to order for herself. "Just one, okay?" He instructed, and she took the offer. Arjun however, had three, but he didn't seem the slightest affected. He had built a high tolerance level.

Neha jumped down and one hand grabbed Rahul while the other got a hold of Sanam. "Alright, enough drinking. Dance floor. Now." It was obvious she was irritated that everyone, including Sanam, was drinking while she couldn't due to her pregnancy.

"Neha, no." This, Sanam did object too. She didn't fancy being in a crowd where everyone was glued to strangers and there was no breathing space. Also, she very well remembered what she had went through during dance rehearsals for Anaya's birthday and the engagement party – dancing with Arjun. She knew for a fact this would be three times more a torture than that.

Arjun picked up another glass of shot just as Neha chided her, "Oh hush, don't ruin the day." Even she had noticed how Sanam had been carefree the whole day. After getting a shot in her, she had tensed up when it should have the opposite effect. It was as if she was afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing under the effect of alcohol, and that was causing her to be extra careful.

She grabbed Arjun's hand, hoping he wouldn't let her be pulled away, but Neha pulled the both of them. "Hold on!" Arjun yelled over the noise since he was about to gulp down the shot he'd picked up. Sanam started to worry a bit, and understanding that somehow, he returned the glass to the counter without gulping it down. "Okay, let's go." He said and glad that she didn't have to pull them anymore, Neha let go of Sanam's hand.

"Don't worry." He spoke in her ear loud enough so she could hear him, but not loud enough for others to hear. "I can handle more than four shots."

She didn't get the time to verbally respond since he put his hand on her back and gently nudged her forward, making her walk in front of him. Neha and Rahul walked through the crowd till all four were somewhat in the center.

Sanam turned her attention back to Arjun to find him texting on his phone. She raised her brows at him, totally judging him. "Seriously?" She spoke loudly. He was in a club, somewhat buzzed, and he was still sending a text message. How could she not judge?

He just laughed and taking her hand, twirled her around. "And you're on the dance floor and not dancing." That was his way of getting her to stop being tense and loosen up.

"Fine." She pretended to scowl, but she wanted to just grin back at him. His smile was damn contagious. A few minutes later, the next song that came up ended up being a Bollywood one. Ikk Kudi – Club Mix. He winked at her when she had looked at him confused. "How?" She asked, understanding he was responsible for that. No DJ in a foreign country would otherwise be playing a Bollywood song in a club.

He moved closer to answer in her ear, and her hand went to his chest. "I know a guy who knows someone who knows the DJ." He leaned away after explaining, but didn't take that one step back to return to his previous spot.

"You're crazy." She told him, realizing the text message he was sending had to be regarding this.

He took her hand, "Only you, sweetheart." He twirled her out and reeled her back in. Thanks to the crowd, she stumbled a little and her back crashed against his front. Laughing, he wrapped his arms over hers from behind and they swayed to the music. It was a romantic song, but it wasn't a slow song that'd require a romantic dance. Still, the position seemed apt.

She didn't take much of his reply, because somewhere, she convinced herself he didn't mean to say he was crazy only for her. She told herself he had said only she would call him crazy when others would take that gesture to be sweet and romantic.

The songs did go back to chartbusters after that one song, but that song still meant a lot to her. She just wouldn't admit it. Sure, she had complained about going on the dance floor earlier, but they ended up there for almost three hours, enjoying away. Somewhere in the middle of it, Neha and Rahul had joined them and the four did make a killer group. For sure, her feet, throat, and cheeks hurt by the end from all the laughing and dancing and cringe-worthy off tune singing. No, it was more like yelling, but you get the gist.

Rahul didn't keep track of the number of drinks he'd had, but Arjun had about six. This time, Sanam didn't bother to look at him in a worried expression. He'd said he could handle more than four, so she let him be. She wasn't going to act like a wife and stop him. He knew what he was doing.

When they reached the hotel, Rahul slumped his arm over Neha's shoulder and she almost dropped under the unexpected weight. Arjun grabbed him and Sanam supported Neha before she'd fall. Neha scolded while slapping his arm, "You've got to lose some weight, Rahul."

Sanam didn't know how Arjun managed to handle Rahul's weight when he was drunk himself. He did have to handle a lot though since Rahul wouldn't walk in a straight line and kept on stumbling over his own foot. "Alright bro, I swear, I am going to leave you here if you don't walk in a damn line." Arjun finally lost his patience with him and announced.

"Sholly kiddo." Rahul cutely apologized and attempted to stand on his own. Arjun shook his head, and put Rahul's hand over his shoulder again, letting out a grunt. There was no point in scolding Rahul at this point.

"Are you going to be okay?" Arjun asked Neha, "He can sleep with me if you want and Sanam can be..."

Neha shook her head, not letting him finish his thought. "Nah, it's cool. I'm sure he's going to be dead asleep the second he hits the bed."

Rahul asks Arjun, "Can I talk to her?" None of them understood why Rahul was asking for permission from Arjun. Neha was his wife; he shouldn't have to ask for permission from his brother to talk to her.

"Yeah?" Arjun answered, confused as well.

Rahul turned towards Neha, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be drunk right now."

Neha rolled her eyes, "You can express your apologies tomorrow."

"Okay, but can I say something else too? He asks, standing on his own feet, but with no balance. He would have fallen had Arjun not been standing behind to catch him.

"What?"

"I promise, until you can drink again too, I won't even touch anything that has alcohol in it."

"Aww," Sanam let out, resting her chin on Neha's shoulder. "That's cute, Jeeju."

Rahul's eyes flicker to her in a grin, happy the gesture was approved. Neha's anger seemed to have melted as well. However, she pretended and shook her head. "Tell me that again when your ass isn't drunk and you are sober."

His face brightens up, "Okies!" Then he quietly lets Arjun drop him to his room. He even stopped fumbling about as much as before. Or, atleast he was trying.

Sanam hugged Neha good night before she went inside and locked the door. In the hallway, Arjun leaned back against the wall. "Arjun?"

"Neha's right." He said. She waited for him continue as she had no idea what part he was talking about. "My ass of a brother needs to lose some weight."

She laughed at his answer and then hooked her arm with his. Pulling him on his own two feet, she said, "Come on, our room isn't that far." As they reached the room, she asked, "How come you aren't half as drunk as jeeju?" She knew he had more drinks than Rahul.

"The later drinks I had were lower in alcohol content." He answered, taking off his shoes.

"But I thought..." She began to wonder out loud.

He walked up to her, "I would never drink too much around you, sweetheart." Arjun was responsible. Sanam knew that, but she didn't realize he was responsible at all times, under all circumstances. He sat on the bed, and then dropped back, staring at the ceiling. "For that matter, around any of my family members. Honestly, I haven't been downright wasted since about freshman year at college. I would have stopped completely, but some days are hard and other times there are social events."

She sat at the edge of the bed, following his actions and laying down with the feet still touching the carpet. She was a bit lazy in the moment, though she knew she had yet to change out of the dress she had been in since morning. He still claimed he was different in the past, but Sanam had yet to see and know more about that part of his life to take his word for it.

"Go change." She nudged him to get up.

Sitting up, he pointed out. "You need to change too."

"I know, but I just want to stay here." She answered, feeling comfortable in bed.

"Lazy," He teased, but left her be after that. Taking his clothes from the bag, he disappeared inside the washroom. She let out a deep breath when she was alone. It had been a very long and an eventful day. She held no regrets, ofcourse. Thinking back to it, she smiled and wondered how she got so lucky. She never would have imagined her relationship with Arjun would turn out this way when she had blatantly asked him to marry her. Back then, she didn't even know just who she was inviting and granting a safe passage to her life.

Yet, at the same time, it scared her that it would all come to an end; that it would all be too good to be true. She closed her eyes tight, trying to shut off those thoughts and her mind. She didn't want it to be ruined just yet by thinking of it. She faintly heard the door open.

"Don't tell me you dozed off." His voice was soft, but also teasing.

She didn't open her eyes yet, but she did give him a one word answer. "No."

He shuffled about the room putting his things to the corner and his wallet and phone to the side table before he stood by her feet, his knees brushing against hers. He leaned to get her hand and pulled, "Alright, enough lazing around."

"Mmm." She didn't put up much of a fight, but she did whine a little. She would have preferred to not be forced to get up and change. "Meanie." She spoke out loud when she was forced to open her bag, take her clothes, and walk in to the bathroom.

After changing, she went to tie up her hair so she could wash her face, but found the hair tie around her wrist to be missing. She remembered Arjun had stolen it in the morning, not wanting her to tie her hair up all the time, and hadn't returned it. She knotted it in a lose bun for the time being.

Upon returning to the room, she announced, "I want my hair tie back." Alas, he was already on the bed, dozing off. He mumbled an answer, but she didn't catch it with his face buried in the pillow. She decided she would have to ask him again tomorrow.

Arjun asked in a soft voice in a low tone when Sanam woke up around eight in the morning. "Did I have a bad dream again?" He was still in bed, at his side, but awake. He had been awake for some time now.

She stretched her free hand over her head, "Yeah, you kept on turning. It wasn't too bad after I..." She trailed off, her gaze shifting to her hand when it was mentioned. She was still holding on to his hand, which was how he knew he must have had a bad dream again.

"Thanks." He broke the silence causing her to look at him. She wanted to tell him he didn't need to say that for it, when he continued, "I tried to leave your hand when I woke up and saw, but you wouldn't let go."

She stared at him at first almost not believing it, and wondering if he was simply teasing her. Then, she felt her grip on his hand while his palm was just resting freely with no pressure. She released her grip. "Sorry."

He gave her a look that was clearly meant to chide her for apologizing for something like holding his hand, but she could have given him the same look when he had thanked her. She sat up, and looked away for two reasons. One, being embarrassed. Two, he looked damn fine right now. Not that he didn't at other times. There was simply a different feeling of catching him in the morning with ruffled hair and creased up shirt. Else, after he was ready, his hair was always in place, his shirts always neatly pressed. This? This was special and unique. Not everyone saw him like this.

"Anyway," He informed as she ran her fingers through her hair to get the knots out, "Neha messaged saying they were off since we were still asleep. We're on our own."

"Hair tie." She ordered, and he sat up to pull his jeans from yesterday from the couch to take it out of the pocket. Getting it back, she continued, "How are they up so early? Rahul should have a nasty hangover or something."

He chuckled, "Oh yea, I'm sure he does, but we also know Neha. She'd have woken him up to get an early start on the day. Today is our last day here after all."

She tied her hair up in a ponytail. "Right." She whispered, almost having forgotten they needed to return back to the world and into reality. These days of vacation couldn't last forever. Well, with his fortune, they technically could but neither of them would want to. As much as they appreciated a few days of absolutely no productive work, they loved their jobs and career.

After showering, Sanam walked to the side desk to get her phone out of charging and check for messages. They were all mostly from Rahul and Neha of their pictures from yesterday. Most of them were from the night at the club which Neha used Rahul's phone for to forward them to her since they were all sent during the night itself after they'd dropped Rahul and her to their room.

"What's got you smiling so much?" Arjun asked after he'd taken a shower too and came out.

"Neha sent pictures from yesterday." She answered without looking up. He sat on the bed next to her to check them out too. She moved the phone to the middle so he could look too.

"That's a cute one." Arjun said as she scrolled to the one where she was trying to have her fries but Neha had decided to use that moment to put a drop of shake on her cheek. She'd made a face at her to scold her and Neha had captured that.

"No its not!" She grumbled, but before she could blink, he took the phone from her grasp. "Hey!" She waited for him to return it, but then realized what he was doing. He was forwarding it to himself. "No, don't you dare." She warned and leapt for the phone but he blocked her using his shoulder and continued to type his name in the sender box. "Arjun!!"

He held her wrist to keep her from grabbing it with a smug look on his face. She squealed when she accidently pushed him in her attempt to save her phone from being kidnapped. He fell back on the bed and because he'd held onto her wrist, she was pulled too, falling half on top of him with her elbow on the bed right next to his ribs.

Arjun didn't realize their position as he grinned with his eyes on the phone. "Sent." He cheered and just then, his phone beeped signaling that he'd received the message. Sanam no longer cared about that. She needed him to release her wrist so she could sit up.

Registering that Sanam wasn't trying to take her phone back, he turned his head and then realized. His fingers left her wrist. She had to consciously try hard and not let her eyes wander over his shirtless body. Her hand fell on his chest because she had no energy to stop it from doing that when he let go.

As soon as her fingers touch his bare skin, her eyes unconsciously flickered down to her hand. Crap. Hesitating a little, she swallowed and lifted her hand. Using her elbow, she pulled herself up in a sitting position. Her fingers fumbled with each other in her lap as she forced her mind to forget the warmth of his touch. He sat up as well, the bed dipping slightly when his weight left. He walked to the couch and puts his shirt over his head.
