Chapter 2

He's a Monster

"Peter Pan?" Evelina questioned and Snow White nodded. The young girl frowned as she was informed about the supposed new ruler of Storybrooke. It hadn't been long before Evelina was told of what had happened while she was away.

A lot had occurred, too much to keep track of. It seemed as if everything had turned upside down within the small matter of months she was gone. She didn't like the Storybrooke she was now in and the Dark One was sure to remind her of what its new name had been changed to.

"Not Storybrooke, dearie, he calls it New Neverland," Rumpelstiltskin said as he waltzed in. The young Frost scrunched her eyebrows as she let the information sink in.

"New Neverland?" She repeated, her strong Norwegian accent breaking through with deep disgust towards the name. Out of nowhere, Henry Mills chuckled loudly and everyone turned to him. Henry blushed when he saw he had managed to gather everyone's attention and he cleared his throat before lightly gesturing toward Evelina.

"Her accent made it sound funny," he mumbled sheepishly. Henry then walked upstairs to his room in shame and didn't come back down for the entire night.

Those left in the room began to discuss different ways to stop this new supposed ruler of Storybrooke.

Emma Swan the Savior, sat between her mother, Snow White, and her father, Prince Charming otherwise known as David. When Evelina's father left her after wintertime, Evelina was under the care and protection of the Charming family.

Standing a little away was Regina Mills, formally known as the Evil Queen. Killian Jones, otherwise known as Captain Hook, stood next to her with Neal Cassidy, or Baelfire as his father, Rumpelstiltskin, prefers to call him.

Regina Mills was the reason why the entire town of Storybrooke was there in Maine in the first place. She was the mayor or used to be before Peter Pan decided to take over. With a healing heart, she agreed to overlook her evil ways, all for the love of her adopted son, Henry.

Killian Jones, or as his nickname proceeds him, Hook, was a handsome man in Evelina's opinion. With a devilish smile and a hook for a hand, he had helped the Charming's retrieve Henry back from the original Neverland island. He had also unintentionally grabbed the attention of the Savior but Emma's feelings were clouded by Neal, who happened to be her first love. Neal had abandoned her years ago. Hook was no man to be pushed away by another. Hook considered it an honorable challenge.

As for Neal, he was a figure who grew up without a father or mother. His mother left him and his father years ago, and Rumpelstiltskin let Baelfire go when he wanted to go to the Land Without Magic. He wanted his father to come along, but Rumpelstiltskin was afraid of leaving his power behind. He cowered out of leaving and Bae slipped through the portal with no way of returning to the Enchanted Forest.

He also at some point in his life, was taken to Neverland but had managed to escape Pan's dark island. Neal wanted nothing more now than to spend time with his son Henry who he had with Emma before he had left her. He was the reason why Emma had to spend some time in what the magical folk called a dungeon.

"Can't we stop him? What's stopping us from doing so?" Evelina questioned and everyone stopped talking among themselves to answer the teenage girl.

"Magic. It's very strong, dark magic."

"And he managed to outsmart all of you? How experienced is he?" Evelina asked again in astonishment. Regina, Rumple, and Emma seemed very annoyed at the fact that they had been taken down by a skinny little monster.

"He's a bloody demon in the body of a teenager," Hook hissed out and Evelina raised an eyebrow.

"A teenager? Peter Pan is a teenager?" She asked for confirmation and Hook nodded toward her.

"A monster nonetheless," he continued bitterly and Evelina's eyes widened before she gave out a giggle.

"Oh my god, I can't believe you were outsmarted by a teenager. You must all be so embarrassed," she wheezed as she clutched onto her cheeks which had begun to ache from soreness. Regina was peeved overall by the fact she had lost it all to a young boy.

"I should have squeezed his puny head off when I had the chance," she hissed as she began to pace the room.

"What's happening in the streets of Storybrooke?" Evelina asked and as Rumple went to correct her again, she held up her hand to stop him.

"It will always be Storybrooke to me. Always," she said as she refused to refer to the town as the New Neverland.

"Some shops have closed down, all in fear. Not many go out to the streets anymore. They're all afraid they'll run into one of his Lost Boys."

"What's a Lost Boy?" Evelina inquired.

"Some of his followers. Boys who feel internally lost," Hook explained and Evelina nodded suddenly feeling afraid as she remembered she was out in the dark of the night not much long ago.

"We can't stay inside forever, we'll go mad or starve ourselves, or even worse both!" Evelina exclaimed and it seemed as if no one had thought of it as it seemed to dawn on the grown-ups.

"We'll figure it out soon enough. Right now, our biggest concern is to make sure our people are okay," David said.

"How can you determine that if you won't even go outside?" Evelina quirked and all of David's hope left his eyes as he took a seat and buried his face in his hands while mumbling incoherent words.

"We can't call a town meeting without one of the savage boys finding out and reporting to Pan. We would just set ourselves up for the kill."

"Has he killed anyone?" The young girl squeaked with wide eyes. Emma shook her head quickly, not wanting to overwhelm Evelina even more.

"Nobody so far, Evie. Take a breather before you faint," Emma instructed. Evelina nodded before she eased her heartbeat and Emma shot a glare towards Regina who had almost let it slip to the girl what had actually happened. An incident had occurred in the first months of Pan's rule, one that had nearly cost Hook's life.

"We'll have to go out at some point. We can't all live in here and avoid the issue, that will just make the problem get bigger over time. Make a plan, pull some strings! You all have powerful magic. It seems unruly that a simple boy managed to take you all down. I'm starting to believe you haven't even tried to put up a good fight," Evelina snapped and everyone looked away except for the captain in the corner of the room, whose eyes shone with pure hatred when he spoke.

"He's no ordinary boy, love. He's a monster."
