Arundhati Pawar has several reasons to be happy. The retired politician is soon going to turn grandmother with her only daughter, a businesswoman, Annika G Oberoi expecting her first child. Even as she prepares for her new role, Arundhati has shared an adorable post celebrating her daughter. In the image, a heavily pregnant Annika is seen posing with her husband, a renowned culinarian and restaurateur. Both husband and wife – wearing pretty dresses – look stunning as they smile for the camera. In the caption, Arundhati said, “Daughter is a blessing.” Along with her daughter, and son-in-law, Arundhati also tagged her husband, a veteran publisher in the post.
"It feels like yesterday that I and Harsh held her for the first time perhaps indeed she had grown. Forthwith I'm Ajji in months. The happiness doubled with the coming of babies instead of a baby. Too joyous ❤." She wrote in her post. Soon the adherents and family friends poured in their love congratulating the to-be parents and family.
The multitasker businesswoman is currently in her second trimester and is living it up in Mississippi with her husband Shivaay Oberoi. Annika is expected to welcome her newborns in October. Speaking about Annika welcoming motherhood, Arundhati Pawar, Ex-Chief minister of Maharashtra, further stated that these days mothers are a little overprotective and she felt that should not be the case. "I was overprotective against my daughter opposing Harsh. I hope my daughter won't be similar to her mother." Recently, Shivaay Oberoi and their family hosted a lavish baby shower in Mississippi, which was attended by close family and friends. This was also hosted to announce the arrival of the new family members.
Apart from this, the other members of the family stayed mum not revealing much. Sources said the same, avoiding the topic of discussion about the Oberoi industry. Proponents took the Internet by storm congratulating the family and also was a bit dumbfounded seeing how the family had wrapped the things under cover.
••
"No, you aren't going away from me!" Shivaay stomped his foot crushing the confetti against the ground, throwing his hands in the air. "What about me? I want to be there while my children are taking birth."
"That's just weeks away Shivaay. Chill." Mallika argued silencing the hallway, heeding her Shivaay whipped his head in her direction with his narrowed eyes and clenched jaws. "As aunty and uncle say, it's tradition bae."
"Even Mallika was at her parents' for two long years when Shriya was born." Sid walked into the conversation with his fingers tugged into his pockets and his foot continuously tapping.
"Yet you got her pregnant." Rudra muffled his mouth with the cream buns as Mallika glared at him.
"That's because you both were horny fucking rascals. Sameer uncle was clearly opposing the relationship between you two." Shivaay snapped. "Moreover I'm not you to get my wife pregnant back to back," Shivaay growled pointing at the six-year-old kid, who stood beside Aaru vaguely and lazily just like his father.
"That's another thing." Sid frowned pulling his son behind him, in hopes of getting out of the embarrassing conversation.
"Daddy, what is rasc-hals?" Om gritted his jaws looking at Shivaay as his little buddy innocently imitated, asking what it meant.
The elders surrounding them sighed, blowing out their held breaths. Somehow Tej wasn't surprised by the turns of events rather he sat down with Annika munching on the delicious, and finger-licking double choco chips cookies. Tagging along with him Annika looked the least interested in the growing argument so she decided to go with Tej, her Sasur Ji to finish off the treats on the table.
"Buddy it rashes." Om squatted to Aarush's height and told. "Don't you get the red things when you play with dirt or when you don't bath?" Aaru nodded in understanding.
"But daddy bade papa said ras-chals. I heard!"
"You heard the wrong buddy. It was rashes!" Om desperately tried convincing the young adamant boy.
"Even I heard that." Shriya Siddharth and Mallika's daughter stepped in tagging her brother Shlok along. "That was 'rascal'. I have sharp hearing features." Shlok nodded.
"These little trouble makers are a danger!" Shivaay muttered under his breath. "The ugly pink babies have turned into troublemakers."
"Your babies will be pink and ugly too!" Siddharth funnily told snapping him from his thoughts.
"Ayee!" Shivaay dangerously plodded to Sid with his pointer finger straight up, threatening him. "My babies are too beautiful inside out, just like their parents. THEY ARE NOT UGLY!"
"Remember you had told me the same thing years ago." Mallika wriggled her eyebrows watching him go flustered with recalling the exact.
"Mine aren't. Mine will be healthy and good-behaving twins like me."
"Good-behaving like you?" Tej halted munching hearing his lad boosting himself and raised a question.
Trembling Shivaay answered. "Of course, I'm."
"I had seen your good behaviour, from stealing wine to bunking classes. All." Shakti commented as he flipped his left leg over the right. He stared at his son for good measure until Shivaay grew uncomfortable with the gaze, then he shifted his attention back to the blueberry jam sandwich.
"Rascal!" Shlok screamed as he pushed Aaru by his shoulders to the ground. Aaru wailed as his bum meet the hard ground.
Who did know that the kids would indulge in fights just minutes away from attention?
"I swear Shivaay I will kill you if you ever use another foul word! My buddy is learning it." Om warned before he helped his son to stand on the ground, wiping his flowing tears.
Somehow Sid and Om managed to pull off their children from each other, consoling them. Both little kids glared at each other until the elders intervened.
"Kids?" Shakti called out gaining the attention of the younger ones. "Why don't you all play with, Rudy? He will teach you how to make a paper plane."
"Me? How?" Rudra gasped dramatically, with his palms on his chest and faking to breathe heavy.
"Nahi your father!" Tej snapped at him sarcastically.
[Trans- No]
Dissatisfied with the turns, Rudra nodded and grabbed the kids' wrists moving out of the way. All he wanted was free entertainment but now he was asked to babysit.
Injustice!
"Shiv we are just minutes away from here." Harsh sympathetically told patting his shoulders.
"That's what I was saying!" Shivaay exclaimed. "Our home is minutes away from yours. It doesn't make much difference, let her stay here."
"That's absurd Shiv." Arundhati supported her husband. "In pregnancy women are advised to stay with their maternal family. It's not longer. New mothers tend to panic a lot in handling newborns, so with us, we would help her. Till the babies are six months old, she would stay with us."
"That's not fair!" Shivaay whined. "Fathers are significant in babies' life. I don't want to miss out on this." He pouted glancing at his wife who was too occupied by the food around her to concentrate on an ongoing basis.
"Baby please say something. Say to them that you will stay with your Shivi." He pleaded kneeling on his knees, at the same time as he pushed the plates of cakes and cookies aside from her.
"That's my cake!" Annika stretched her hands to reach the plates. When he didn't respond to her, she huffed turning her face away from him.
"Don't you remember that the nutritionist has advised you not to gain more weight than now?" Shivaay closely brushed her now short hair.
"You telling me that I'm fat?"
Shivaay looked bewildered. "Nope babe, I wanted you to limit on sugar."
"Aai and baba will contact you when I will be pushing YOUR babies," Annika announced standing up angrily. "Now give me my cake piece."
Nodding at her Shivaay bend over his torso, his eyes aimed at her flipper-cladded feet as he placed the plates down. On the other hand, Annika fumed in anger, her husband very well knew that she was having difficulty crouching. Huffing at him still, she attempted to reach her hands through the knees. Watching her struggle, though he found it cutie, Shivaay suppressed his growing laughter until he received a hard kick on his shin.
"Aahhh!" He growled hopping, shifting the weight of his whole body to another.
"That's was happens when you tease her," Om smirked at Shivaay. He walked to an angered Annika and helped her sit down and passes the plates, which she happily accepted. "Stop being childish Shivaay."
"I'm not childish!" Shivaay barked. "She is being one though. She is even ready to go to Aai and Uncle. What about me?"
"That's it Shivaay." Tej stood up brushing the crumbles off his shirt and pants. "Stop overreacting. You can visit her whenever you want!"
"Really?"
"Trust me." Jhanvi smiled and sipped her bolster drink.
"Then can't they stay here? At our home, it's a big flat with 3bhk. Pretty please." Shivaay pulled his lips out, trying to look cute, obviously to get some cookie points.
"No Shiv, parents shouldn't stay in the daughter's home. That's not good." Harsh pinpointed.
"Then can you both adopt me?" Everyone looked bewildered hearing his sudden exclamation.
"Huh?"
"Please adopt me already. I will be a good ghar jamai. I promise. I will cook every day, and even help you guys with shifting packages and couriers. Just I want to stay with her. Pretty please!" Shivaay fell to his knees as he dramatically begged his in-laws to approve the same. Others watching the scene busted out laughing.
"Shut up Shivi!" Annika growled angered. "You are being nautanki. Now help me pack my bags. And yes, you can visit on alternate days."
[Trans- dramatic.]
"You won't miss me?" He asked shocked by her spontaneous words.
"Nope!"
"My kisses? My foot massage? At least you would miss my cuddles, right?"
"No. That's your punishment for calling me fat."
"When did I call you fat? You are the chubby cute wife of mine." He gasped.
"See!" She narrowed down at him. "You said I'm chubby now suffer the consequences. I'm going to my mayka."
[Trans- maternal home.]
"Please."
"Not melting."
"Guys at least can you speak to my crazy wife?" Shivaay swirled his head to glance at his friends, cousin and family.
"I'm going to check on Aaru. My buddy must be missing me." Om trotted in hurry.
"Yup, I'm going to Om. Shlok is problematic I will go check on him." Mallika announced as she walked out in the pretence of her son.
"Well-" Tej licked his lips continuing to speak."-I need to find my missing pair of socks. Bye."
"I need to search Anderson's son file and pass it to Sonu," Jhanvi told grabbing dadi's hands and walking away helping the elder soul.
"I and Pinky Ji are going out sightseeing. You see after the birth of our grandchildren you won't have time for our private equity. Bye." Shakti smiled with his tight lips and hurriedly strode out with Pinky in tow.
"What about you Sid?" Shivaay sarcastically asked watching him stand alone with his in-laws, him and his wife. Hearing him, he nervously stretched his arms and yawned.
"I'm sleepy." He rubbed his eyes and again fake yawned. "I will use up the guest room for now. Thank you I will meet for dinner." He bowed before sprinting towards the stairs.
••
"Thanks, Vahini," Rudra whispered lowly and continued watching the scene unfold.
"Sasur Ji, don't you think it's time for our Rudy to get married?" Annika raised her brows pretending to be all innocent, while Arundhati loudly and undesirably coughed watching her daughter's Oscar-winning action.
"True though." Tej hummed.
"But Rudy is young isn't it?" Jhanvi murmured. "In the entertainment industry, people tend to get married by the late thirties and our Rudy is still twenty-eight. Isn't it early."
"Kya early jeethani Ji. Hum na uss umar mein Shiv ko preschool beja tha!" Pinky taunted Rudra. "That time we all were so responsible but Rudy is still dating. Waah!"
[Trans- What early co-sister. We at that age used to send Shiv to preschool!]
"Choti ma!" Rudra whined.
"Rudy boi, stop I will handle it." Annika pulled him back and gestured to keep mum. "So Sasur Ji will it not be good if our Rudy gets married or even engaged? Our family will grow and someone will have a rope to control Rudy."
"That's true, but-" Tej busied himself in deep thoughts. "-I always hated his dating back-to-back style, and importantly those night stands in his early career. However what about Om?"
"You don't worry dad. I will for now concentrate on Aaru. If life permits I will have my love." Tej gasped as his elder son cheerful and calmly, told.
Wasn't he synonymous with Devdas? Tej thought.
"You like someone, Rudy?" Jhanvi asked.
"Mummy Ji why ask a victim while murdering?" She lightly giggled. "He broke up with Lavanya recently."
"Arrange marriage?" Arundhati raised the question to normalise the conversation. She knew it was all facade, younger knew but the elder Oberoi's.
"I have some contacts. I will ask some agencies to look for a bride. What say?" Harsh widen his mouth as his lover stomped his foot.
"Yeah? Fine I guess." Shakti frowned.
"Harsh, you don't remember Sonu's junior? In the college? Now she is RJ. Remember?"
"Soumya?"
"Yup."
"She is the same one who worked with Rudra? Isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong."
"Ohh yes!"
Shivaay discreetly pinched Rudra's waist motioning him to start with his part of the drama.
"I won't marry that Somu! She is 'according to information' nerd."
"Then that's it, Jhanvi our son will get married to her if she agreed to his flirty behaviour," Tej announced.
"But why?" Rudra feigned to be stunned.
"I have seen her and well know that she is very much capable of mashing you and your nonsense ego."
"But-"
"That's final." Tej walked out along with other senior Oberoi family members tagging him.
"PAPA!"
"That's my Vahini." Rudra happily squealed jumping to hug his sister-in-law but frowned when his brother pulled him away mumbling a small careful.
"I have completed my promise. Now it's your turn to find a way to get close to Soumya, opps RJ Gapshap Soumya."
"Vahini." He cutely grumbled.
"So happy," Annika mumbled placing her head on her husband's shoulder. Sensing her contact, Shivaay patted her head as she continued staring at him.
"Won't you miss me?" He asked. "Are you willing to move with them?"
"Yeah. And I would miss you only a little bit." She said showing her pointer finger touching her thumb. "Though I would miss out our make-out session."
"Is it necessary?"
"Yeah. In my pretence, Aai and baba would again start. Please."
"Fine." He grumpily told.
"I'm so happy."
"Why babe?"
"You cleared things with Sid and Malli, Rudra is in love, Om is at a peaceful place and at last we are having trouble makers in days. Aren't you happy?"
"Trust me, I'm the happiest. But I'm concerned about you." He tightly sealed his lips rubbing her swollen stomach.
"Why?"
"Doctors and I find that you are turning lazy day by day."
"Aren't pregnant women supposed to be lazy?" She frowned.
"They are busy but you taking too many advantages over it. You don't exercise, you eat sleep and repeat. You must at least try to me actively." She twisted her mouth.
"Didn't you see the raising sugar levels?" She nodded. "I'm just concerned over my wife and babies."
"I promise I will take care of that." She pouted earning a peck and bucks from her husband and brother-in-law simultaneously. Ignoring Rudy's stunts, Shivaay pulled his wife closer to him.
He smiled remembering all the shimmering memories. He still couldn't believe that he was married only because of that nosy Sonali Ahuja and Sid. Such a roller coaster ride it was. From strangers to parents-to-be in nine years span. How much he treasured them.
Today he was the holder of two famous restaurant branches, five cafes and many others in the process. It started with a small challenge with his uncle to stay financially stable however today he had multiple zeros right to the digit. His wife was nonetheless still learning under his Baade papa, now she was Dr Annika G Oberoi.
How proud he is.
The stranger turned into a crazy wife, changing the moves of life.
He was grateful.
She was unexpected but treasured.
She was is his unexpected crazy wife!
***
I tell you this is the longest chapter. I had been drafting this for a couple of days but nothing made sense now today I sat down and wrote this for hours. Hope you all like it.
Add-ons might come in later days. The epilogue would be very delayed. Don't expect anything more. I tried my best to keep the book steady updates, with a maximum of a week of delay. I tried. If unhappy I'm so sorry.
During the course of this book, I realised many dropped out, maybe they didn't find this fascinating and engaging. But for me, it demotivated me badly. I'm so thankful for a few readers, my friends, and advisers it is because of you all that this is completed.
#Fun Fact 1- This story developed as I sat in the lecture hall listening to the molecules of glucose.
2 - Harsh and Arundhati were supposed to remain as co-parents.
3 - The idea of Om being in love with Sonu was spontaneous.
4 - I'm unexpected 🔥
Thanks for all your undying support. I love you all.
