Jhanvi crouched on the seat flipping the photos and glimpsing at her beautiful family.
"It's picture-perfect," Tej commented glancing at his wife still searching for his missing pair of socks. "Rudra is good at his career and others too. Even Sonu is better than all my idiotic sons."
"Everything is but Om. He is the only one not happy with turns in life." She said tearing herself and brushing her son's image.
"Don't worry. He has Aarush to take care of." Tej squatted behind her and wrapped his arms around her shaking body.
"How long? Single parenting is hard and he doesn't know that yet." She whimpered against his chest. "Also he doesn't visit us often. Is he that busy forgetting his parents and family?"
"He might be busy Jhanvi. Try to get that. We can hope that our sons and daughter's life should revolve around us but they can't. They have a different life." Tej sighed and turned around not wanting to look at his being wife. "Stop crying! It's annoying."
"Even Shiv is busy in his restaurant but he does visit us twice a year. Only this year it's an exemption. Rudra is always home. But what about Om? He is hurting us."
"I know!" He squeezed his eyes. "But can you stop crying out at least today? Today is my lad's wedding anniversary."
"But Om-"
"I will talk about that with him. Even Aaru will start playschool from here. Okay?" He guaranteed with a flickering smile. His skin aged however that smile of his still held at the same place as before in her soul.
"Ok." She instantly agreed with him and enthusiastically spoke. "Call them."
"It's afternoon, Jhanvi. And over there it's early morning." He urged.
"Still you try. They go to the gym at this time."
"Fine." He grumbled annoyed by her words and actions.
Soon he fished out his phone from the table, where it was there for the past hours and dialled his lad's number. Within the first few rings, he received a text from him asserting to have a face time and it was urgent. Compiling to him he ran to his younger son's room and grabbed his mac book to switch on the camera.
"Hello, guys! Happy Anniversary." Jhanvi and Tej shouted at the top of their lungs cheering the couple over the other screen.
And the response wasn't satisfactory. Instead of their delightful faces, they saw them with clenched jaws and puffed cheeks. Shivaay had his eyes fixed on the screen whilst his wife glaring him with her gritting teeth.
"What's up, guys?" Tej asked looking suspiciously at them.
"You ask her bade papa." Shivaay stood up smoothing his clothes and pointed at his wife. "She is mad. Total mad. I don't understand why years back I felt her cute. She isn't any cute instead she is a Dracula."
"Oo enough! You aren't any Saint. You fucking pig, stop your bitchiness." Annika rose from her seat and scowled at him.
Watching with amusement both Tej and Jhanvi observed them. Annika had her left arm cast and the supporting cast was fastened around her waist. On the other hand, Shivaay was limping around pointing out all the flaws.
The fights and patches were regular.
But these casts weren't.
Sighing at them Jhanvi shooed them and tried to handle the situation.
"What happened this time?" She softly asked.
"I tell you, mummy. Baba approached Shivi yesterday and advised us to have kids, concerning our lives and career. But this great billu Ji, having blue-green eyes snapped at him and called him Mr Hitler."
As she began explaining Shivaay huffed and pushed her aside from the view and began to decipher his side of the story.
"You ready for Sitara?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Obviously. Not." Rapidly and nonchalantly she shrugged her shoulders.
"Then shut up." She twisted her mouth and swirled aside hearing him snap at her.
"So - where were we?" Shivaay scratched his forehead trying to make out things which were left behind.
"Kids. Harsh. Mr Hitler." Tej sarcastically smiled reminding him.
"Oh yes. So Uncle advised us. We weren't ready so I didn't have anything to show my best. Mom and Uncle are forcing too much. And I snapped." Shivaay innocently shrugged off.
"Sasur Ji." Annika cried out. Heeding her muffled cries Tej straighten up and fully immersed himself to protect her.
"She is just gaining sympathy. Crocodile tears." Shivaay let out earning a few punches from her on his torso. "Ouch!"
"Also, days back I had purchased an expensive face scrub. And in a day he finished it off." She sniffed.
"I never knew it was face scrub I thought it would be a nice dispenser. I mean hand wash. So I used it." He clarified. He muttered. "Sonu does all bargain from a vehicle to salt but when it comes to skincare products it's all expensive. It was almost the same as olive oil. Hff."
"I heard that Shivi!"
"Great. Now continue."
"There is a flat for sale in the other city here. I wanna take that but Shivi doesn't seem to like it."
"That's because it's risky. We still have loans for this home and restaurant. Think wise Annika."
"But that's cheaper than normal."
"No that's final. You don't understand this thing. From a tiny ladle to movable vehicles we did take them all in EMI's and that's a lot of interest consuming. We will take once the Ina has grown. Okay, baby?" Sitting beside her Shivaay calmingly explained.
"I know. You are the best. I forgave you for my face scrub." Sniffing at his chest, she mumbled leaning forward to him and wrapping around.
"I know baby. You are the best. Too cute to handle." A smile stretched his lips at the mere fact that his wife wasn't angered and relishing the moment he pressed his lips on her hairline.
On the other side of the call, Tej and Jhanvi rolled their eyes at their momentary lapse in their fight.
"Are you guys done? Kissing? Cuddling?" Tej yelled.
"Sonu? What happened to your arms?" As Jhanvi raised the topic of discussion about the cast and injury, Shivaay pushed Annika and grimaced at her.
"I tell you badi maa. Three days back in the gym she was showing off her skills to her crush, ignoring her lawfully wedded see husband. To impress him there she hoisted a heavy bar with plates. And as she couldn't control she tilted sideways and one of the pieces of equipment hit her forearm. Looking at her I ran to reach her falling body and stumped over a dumbbell and my ankle twisted." He exhaled deeply. "That's the end of our injury story."
Annika sheepishly smiled and shut her eyes when Tej and Jhanvi glowed at her.
"It pains. It hurts. My hand hurts." Annika held her head between both palms and shrieked suddenly when all were waiting for her answers. Tej and Jhanvi panicked watching their beloved daughter cry in pain.
"It's all drama. Don't believe her." Annika huffed when her husband didn't believe her words and so she pretended to do more.
"Ahh. My arms.."
"Baby your arm is hurt not your head." Shivaay suppressed his laughter and pointed out. Twisting her mouth at him she switched from head to her right arm. And when she realised it was the left arm injured she laughed making others do the same.
"When are you guys coming? This year you haven't even visited us for Diwali or Lohri." Jhanvi popped up.
"New year?" Tej added.
"Nahi mummy. We have already spent our entire savings on the opening ceremony and the building rents."

"So no cash left." Shivaay comfortably completed his wife as he sat beside her, cuddling her.
"How are others? Mom had hours back lectured me about kids." Shivaay laughed remembering his mother's terrifying words.
"All good. Your Dadi is on a regional tour with her friends along with Vaidehi aunty. Nothing much changed." Tej answered.
"How is the anniversary party planned?" Jhanvi asked adjusting the camera to full length.
"Nothing much. Just us together this year." Annika smiled.
"Remember the first anniversary, when you both had impatiently called us asking for help." Tej cackled. And Annika and Shivaay redden remembering that important day.
"What was that Tej? Something protection, sex and all?" Jhanvi pretended to be innocently but brutally teased the couple.
"How can someone forget about the precautions and early morning cry overthinking the outcomes?" Tej cleared his throat and imitates Shivaay. "Bade papa what if? What if Annika ends up preggy? My God! I'm scared "
"Haha!"
"What's up, guys?" Annika and Shivaay widened their eyes hearing Rudra's voice over the phone.
It's too bad news for Rudra. A spicy one.
He will tease them till their ripe age.
"It's us bhaiya and Vahini? I missed them. What were you talking about? It seemed interesting."
"Mummy, Sasur Ji you won't tell him. Sasur Ji apko kasam hain apke socks par."
[Trans - Sasur Ji swear on your socks.]
