Chapter Thirty Five.
Chapter Thirty Five.
The car ride to her house was silent as she sat in the passenger seat of Samuel's car looking out the window as he drove them through the town and heavy traffic.
She had thought she had never seen anything so beautiful that the town at night. It was obvious that everyone had taken great lengths to decorate the town with a Christmas theme. Lights had been wrapped around the stumps of trees, from the roots to the branches whilst the flashed and changed colour from white to a golden yellow and then back again.
She looked up from the window to see that light were hanging from windows in what looked like snow drops whilst others hanged from one side of the street to another with bells and angles as well as a star made out of lights. In every shop window she could see different coloured tinsel, lights and bunting all with a Christmas theme. Her own house had been decorated with Christmas lights whilst a Christmas tree had been decorated in the corner of her living room with a bunch of presents under the tree. It made everything feel so normal and she liked that.
She had discovered that she loved Christmas. She loved the feeling that surrounded her and everyone else, the atmosphere so calm and relaxed. She loved the cold and wrapping up warm in big thick jumpers and coats. Christmas brought everyone together and she could only hope that she remembered her past sooner rather than later.
"What are you thinking about?" Samuel asked her as she looked over her shoulder to see that he was looking at her from the corner of his eye whilst he drove down the lane that she had run up earlier after storming out of the house. She felt guilty at her reaction and knew that she would have to apologise when she next saw Paul and Lisa which would be in a couple of minutes.
I was just thinking about how much I love Christmas, I love the feeling of everything and the effort that everyone goes to decorate the town and it's all so beautiful." She said before blushing as she realised that she sounded so excited about thing so small. She saw something flash in Samuel's chocolate brown eyes that looked similar to hope as they momentarily glazed over and she wondered if she had said something similar to him before she lost her memories.
"It's a nice time of year." He agreed as she focused his attention back on the road.
They once again lapsed into a silence and she realised that it wasn't awkward; they were both content with just being in each other's presence which confused her. Her body reacted strangely around Samuel as she found herself sitting on her hands to stop herself from reaching over to Samuel just so that she could touch him and feel the warm and tingles that danced across her skin whenever they touched. Every fibre within her seemed to be tuned into Samuel, it was as if she could feel what he was feeling and ready to react to everything his said or did, her body hummed and her heart sored whenever Samuel looked at her from the corner of his eye. It didn't help that she was super sensitive to everything around her and very aware of Samuel, she was surrounded by his scent that she greedily breathed it in through her nose.
She shook her head as if that would help her clear her scattered mind. She was sure that she was going crazy and Samuel had noticed her sniffing the air more times than any normal person would do and guessed he couldn't wait to drop her off and leave. The thought of Samuel leaving her caused a sharp pain to build within her chest, close to her heart.
She was pulled out of her thoughts as the car rolled to a stop outside of her house, Samuel twisted and pulled out the key as she looked to see that Paul and Lisa were standing in the doorway, relief on both of their faces as Paul dipped his head in guilt.
"Thanks for dropping me home." She turned to Samuel with a small smile on her face as she blushed realising that Samuel had already been look at her with a smouldering expression that sent her heart into overdrive.
"It was my pleasure." He smiled at her.
"Well thanks again," she said with a small wave of her hand as she opened the door and climbed out with her bag clutched tightly to her side.
"Wait," Samuel called as she stopped mid-way through shutting her car door.
She bent her legs slightly so that she was looking at him, she brushed a lose wave that obstructed her vision to see that Samuel was leaning over the passenger seat slightly, "yes?"
"I'm going away on a business trip and so I won't be around," he took a deep breath as she frowned, she didn't like the fact that he was going away, that he was leaving her, "but, I need you to know that I will always watch over you, I will always protect you."
Samuel's brown eyes continued to stare at her as they silently begged her to her the honesty in his voice, the promise that what he was saying was true. She felt a small pressure at the front of her head, behind her eyes as she thought she had heard those words before but she wasn't sure. She winced as the pressure suddenly began to build causing her to let go of the door frame and stand up suddenly.
"I've got to go," she muttered as she quickly shut his car door.
She turned on her heels and rushed towards Paul and Lisa that were standing in the door way with frowns on their faces. The closer to the house she got the more painful her headache was becoming, she could see that her vision was becoming blurry as she stumbled along the gravel dropping her bag as she came to a stop.
It was as if the pressure was squeezing her brain tightly, no mercy was given as she squeezed her eyes tightly shut.
She heard a car door slam shut behind her as rushed footsteps made there was across the gravel coming from two different directions. She couldn't take it anymore as she brain went into frenzy as she was taken under by the pain. Her legs buckled from underneath her as she feel to the ground only to feel strong arms wrap around her frame before she passed out.
~
"I'm Samuel." he introduced after a moment as Alena placed her book on her lap and watched him curiously, the longing feeling she was still feeling was becoming unbearable.
"Alena." she sent him a small smile feeling suddenly feeling shy as she remember how he had caught her shamelessly staring at him.
"Alena." he repeated more to himself than her but she still felt her heart pick up ever so slightly as a sensation she didn't understand began to gather in her lower stomach.
~
"You read?" She asked as she nodded her head towards the book he had placed on the desk, it remained unopened but Alena could see the corner of a page turned.
"It's a guilty pleasure of mine." He admitted sheepishly.
"Your secrets safe with me." She teased with a smile on her face.
"Come with me." Samuel suddenly stood up as he tucked the book under his arm and held out his hand for her to take. Alena was shocked by his behaviour but she was afraid, she knew that he would never hurt her, she didn't know how or why but she knew for sure that she was safe with him. Alena put the book she was reading back on the untouched pile that Miss Burns had given her as she slowly put her coat on before grabbing her bag and pulling it over your shoulder.
"Where?" Alena asked as she gathered the book under one arm before stopping to look at Samuel. Alena was always to curious for her own good as she allowed curiosity to get the better of her as she already knew she was going to with him.
"You'll see." He smiled shyly as he grabbed her hand and began to pull her back threw the library.
~
"The best hot chocolate." He announced as he watched her raise the glass to her lips and take a sip. The hot chocolate invade her mouth as she swallowed hungrily, the warm liquid warming her insides, while her tongue darted out to taste the whipped cream.
"The best hot chocolate ever."
~
"What Adaleigh is trying say," Aria began sounded surprisingly seriously as Alena looked at her to see her starring at her sympathetically. "The prophecy states that a young witch, a half breed will have the power to change the world, of both humans, witches and other mythical creatures, light and darks ones will come together in a war to change the young witches mind. The dark ones will stop at nothing to change her mind and turn all that is good evil, however the light ones will protect and fight for this young witch, a great battle, a war will take place. It wasn't said when it will take place or the powers of the witch will come around but the time in nearing, every witch can feel it." She finished off as Alena felt her heart stop beating, she already knew where this was going but she didn't want to believe it, she could be wrong.
"You are that witch." Aurora stated bluntly.
~
His cool breath fanned her face as he leant forwards so that he could press his lips to her cheek. Alena felt her heart lurch out of her chest and into her mouth, as it began to beat rapidly at the effect that the simple brushing of his lips on her cheek had on her body. She felt her insides melt, as her body hummed in anticipation for more, she wanted and needed more but the simple kiss on her cheek seemed to be all she was going to get as she blushed when she released just how tainted her thoughts, feelings and dreams were becoming when she was around him.
~
Alena's lips parted as she felt him press his lips to both of her cheeks, exactly where her dimples were as her cheeks tingled from his lips, they were as soft as she remembered from the other night as her fluttered against her chest while she blushed from the sudden attention he was giving her. She hadn't lost hope that she would do the right thing, she know knew that she would try with everything she had to do the right thing so that she could feel Samuel's soft lips against her skin.
~
Her heart pounded against her chest, as excitement gathered in the pit of her stomach a long with the flock of butterflies that began to spread their wings. She sat very still as Samuel moved in slowly, giving her the chance to pull away if she wanted to before he pressed his lips to the corner of her mouth, his lips barely touching her own as he kissed the spot where he had said she had ice cream. Her skin tingled as her heart ached for more, she wanted and needed more but Samuel had moved back ever so slightly and just out of her reach. She was glad that he had moved before she could make a fool out of herself, she didn't know if he liked her, he had kissed her cheek and very nearly kissed her lips but he hadn't said that he liked her and she wasn't going to be the first to admit her feelings in case he was messing with her. She knew she shouldn't doubt Samuel as he had been nothing but nice to her but he was attractive and out of her league.
~
"A wolf." She said shyly as she watched Samuel's reaction closely, she was surprised when she saw the huge grin that slide onto his face while his eyes seemed to brightened ever so slightly.
"Do you like wolves?" He asked curiously. She didn't know why but she felt there was something more to his question than simply asking whether or not she liked wolves, there was a double meaning to his question but she didn't question it. He had said that he would explain everything to her and she was more than happy to wait but that didn't mean she wasn't curious.
"They're interesting animals." She answer honestly, she didn't know why they were her favourite animal there was just something about them that she loved.
~
"A masquerade ball? You want me to go? Isn't that fancy dresses and beautiful masks?" She asked and read the invitation once again to realise that the ball was this Saturday meaning she only had a few day to find a dress, and that was if she didn't go.
"I'd like you to go and I'd love for you to be my date for the evening. And yes its fancy dresses and beautiful masks." He smiled cheekily at her when he repeated what she had said.
"Your date?" Alena asked, her heart pounded at the very thoughts while butterflies gathered in her stomach.
~
Alena heard clapping as she looked around them to see that they had danced around the room, the other couples stood at the edges starring with happy smiles on their faces as they clapped both her and Samuel. It was then that she realised that everyone had watched them dance, she had been so caught up in Samuel eyes that she hadn't taken in her surroundings, she had allowed him to lead her across the room, she hadn't stepped on his toes and they had tripped or fallen, there dance had been faultless. As they both stopped, Alena blushed as the sudden attention as she looked up at Samuel who was smiling down at her with an emotion in his eyes that she didn't recognise.
"That was amazing." He breathed.
~
She watched in horror as Samuel's body began to change, it shook violently and the sound of his bones snapping caused her to place her hands over her ears while she backed away, tripping on her dress and falling to the ground landing uncomfortable on her bum but she didn't care, her eyes were wide as she took on the sight before her. Samuels clothes shredded into tatters that fell to the ground slowly as he morphed into a huge black wolf that was growling and snarling at the red eyes wolf. The red eyed wolf lunged at the wolf that once resembled a human being, Samuel as he easily dodged the attack and clapped his teeth around its neck. She couldn't believe her eyes, I'm crazy, she thought as she madly blinked to see that the two wolves were still fighting, one of those wolves being Samuel who had just changed right in front of her eyes.
~
"Alena, we're not-" Daniel began taking a step forward causing her to automatically step back, pained expressions appeared on both of their faces.
"Please don't hurt me," She whimpered knowing how pathetic and weak she sounded but she didn't know what else to do, using her magic was impossible in her current state of mind.
~
"I do and she's perfect, the tiniest little thing. She has long black hair that I love wrapping my hands around and these bright blue eyes that always sparkle whenever she smiles which show of her two dimples that make her the most adorable little thing I've ever seen and when she blushed. She's so beautiful." He tightened her arms around her. "And do you know what? I'm holding her in my arms right now." He spoke softly as Alena starred at him with her mouth open, she was sure she resembled something close to a fish but she was in shock. Samuel had more or less admitted that she was his mate.
"Am I?" She asked with a blush.
"You Alena are my beautiful little mate." He said as he leant forward and kissed the top of her nose.
~
She squealed once again from the sudden movement as she latched onto him as he pressed his lips against hers.
It wasn't like the brief kiss that they had shared last week at the ball this was more intense, filled with so many thoughts and feelings that she found herself beginning to get light headed. She felt his tongue gently lick her bottom lip as she gladly allowed him entrance to her mouth; their tongues began to dance in a ritual that they both seemed to know as he dominated the kiss. She was thrilled that she had ignited such a kiss and the excitement that gathered in her stomach increased as she realised that the man who was kissing her with such roughness yet care and a gentle caress at the same time was hers. Mine, she thought to herself as she caved into submission as he took full control of the kiss. She was a little nervous and wary, maybe even a little scared at the whole mate thing that she had yet to understand and know everything about. All she knew that she was his and he was hers and that in itself was enough for her.
~
"I'm a witch. I'm half-human and half-witch, my mum is a witch where as my dad is human." She spoke just above a whisper not trust her voice, she looked away from Frank and everyone else instead focusing on the rug on the floor. She couldn't look at Samuel, Daniel or Dean, she didn't know what their reaction would be but she didn't want to know.
~
"It seems your protectors are finally here." Adrian laughed as he released her throwing her head away and into the back of the wall as she winced. He stood from where he had been crouching as she looked around his legs to see Daniel stood with his hands clenched into fists, his body violently shaking with a murderous expression while a sand coloured wolf stood at his side, snarling, Dean. She was relieved as she sagged against the wall, feeling the fight leave her.
~
Their eyes looked as an emotion she had seen in his eyes for a while now shone in the two pools of chocolate, she frowned a little only to have it disappear as he said four words that had her heart beating faster and in sync with his, and her crashing her lips to his.
"I love you Alena."
~
"Good evening," Samuel's voice travelled across the still silent hall. She knew that he was now longer the playful Samuel but Alpha Samuel who was addressing his pack, "I hope that you are all having a good time. For those of you that don't know, recently I have found my mate." She watched the crowds as Samuel spoke to see that no one looked surprised as she felt all eyes on her once again.
"I would like to welcome and introduce the newest member of the Crescent pack, my mate and your future Luna Alena brown." The pride was evident in Samuel voice as he introduced her into the entire pack; she blushed as she watched everyone slowly bow their heads in respect. She looked at Samuel who looked down at her with a huge smile on his face that had her smiling softly back.
~
She cried out in pain and she squirmed against his hold, his hands had slide under his t-shirt that she wore and held her stomach gently to the mattress while the rest of her body held her down. She had expected pain but she hadn't expected the burning sensation that started as soon as his teeth had punctured her delicate skin. It was nothing like she had ever experienced as she continued to thrash against him, tears rolled endlessly down her cheeks as she felt blood from her wound trickle down her neck and on to her shirt and the pillow underneath her.
It was as if her neck was being punctured by tiny needles continuously as he continued to hold her still. She was surprised when she felt a tightening sensation in her stomach as if a knot was being created that was binding the two together. She wondered if it was another werewolf thing that she didn't know about and she was surprised at ache that came shortly after. She was limp underneath him now as she felt tired, the pain had decreased as soon as his teeth retracted from her neck and his tongue lapped at her wound.
"It's beautiful, you're beautiful." He marvelled as he pulled away so that he could admire his mark on her neck, his eyes glowed with admiration and loved as he placed as small kiss on her parted lips.
~
"Welcome to the club." She grinned as she held out her hand.
"Club?" Reece asked confused as he took her hand in his.
"The Halfling club."
~
Her mum glared at her grandparents as well as Darius before turning to face her, her face was filled with anger but it softened when their eyes locked.
"Darius is my ex fiancé."
~
She would never get enough of his lips against hers, the gentle caress that always lead to something more and his taste that filled her with desire and need. She moaned out loud whilst blushing at the sound whilst his hand that had wrapped around her gently traced the bare skin of her back that his t-shirt that she wore had risen past her thighs and bunched at her belly button revealing her creamy skin.
He pulled away all too quickly as try both tried to catch their breath. She rested her forehead against his as she looked into his capitulation eyes that had darkened with lust during their heated kiss. She felt his chest rise and fall along with hers, as he moved his hands from the back of her neck to her waist were both his hands gently needed the bare skin of her waist as she shivered in delight. She loosed her hold on his hair but didn't let go of him.
She was afraid if she did he would disappear and she would wake up alone having to face everything in her own.
"I will always watch over you, I will always protect, my little mate."
~
"Have it your way." Tabitha smirked.
Alena's hands had already come out in front of her to protect her and those around her from any attack that Tabitha threw their way. Tabitha didn't attack; she only stepped aside to reveal Adrian who was dragging someone along by the arm, she would recognise the red hair that flowed behind the girl anywhere. Alena gasped as she stepped forward with her hand to her mouth only to have Samuel wrap his arms around her waist and pull her back. She watched as Adrian stopped beside his mum with a smirk on his face as he let go of her arm and grabbed her chin forcing her to look up as her green eyes meet Alena's blue ones, regret clear in them.
"Lucy..."
~
"Mate," he growled loudly, taking a step forwards towards Lucy. She now understood why the rogue's eyes weren't red because his wolf had recognised Lucy as his mate and returned him to his human self.
"You need to take her." Alena whispered removing Lucy's arm from around her shoulder with difficulty before she pushed Lucy with all her remaining strength towards the stranger who easily caught her whilst Lucy screamed and fought against him. Alena crouched on the floor as she shut her eyes, the pain in her back becoming unbearable as she began to cry louder than she had before. A sense of hopelessness coming over her as she continued to cry, she should have stayed with Daniel or Dean but she knew she would have only distracted them and Lucy may not be alive is she had.
"Alena come with us." Lucy begged as she looked up through blurry eyes to see that the stranger was slowly dragging Lucy away as she looked at her, tears rolling down her cheeks while her eyes darted behind her. She knew that Tabitha was behind her, every hair on her body stood on end at the cold shiver that ran through her body.
"Keep her safe." She whispered to the stranger who nodded once before dragging Lucy kicking and screaming through the dense forest. She could hear Lucy apologising over and over again and promises of how she would save her, of how she was going to be fine.
~
She suddenly felt detached from the world her, as if she was the only one in the garden, in the field as she continued to wither in pain. Her eyes flew open to meet the grey clouds above her as she arched her back upwards, desperately trying to breathe as blackness appeared around the edges. She knew what was happening, she had begged and pleaded and she was now getting what she had waited so long for. The darkness slowly crept in on her as welcomed it, embracing the sudden cold feeling that seemed to wash over her burning body as she closed her eyes. She could hear the cries of many people telling her to breathe, to keep her eyes open but it was no use, he body was not her own anymore as she drowned in the darkness. Tabitha was too late, the red head had been right and Tabitha should had stick to the plan but she hadn't and somewhere in her lost body and mind she felt relief knowing that she had won.
It was time to make her decision.
~
Alena awoke with a loud gasp escaping her lips as she sat up into a seating position on her bed, her small frame shaking as she looked around her room startled. Her bedside lamps were on and the curtains open to reveal the dark sky and the soft white glow of the full moon outside. She clutched the side of her head with a tight fist as she remembered her dreams, her memories. She guessed that Samuel had carried her to her room after she had passed out in the middle of her drive way.
She felt a huge smile break out onto her face as she threw the covers off her body and quickly got to her feet. She looked down to see that she no longer wore the outfit she had pick out earlier instead she was dressed in a pair of fluffy socks and small cotton shorts with a large jumper gathered at her waist, the smell radiating from the material told her that it belonged to Samuel.
Just thinking his name had Alena running towards her bedroom door. She could remember, she could remember every word they had ever spoken to each other, she could remember every smile, every look, every laugh, she could remember every touch and the tingles that she felt, she could remember every knee buckling kiss and warm embraces. She could remember everything about who she was, about her past and what had happened before she blacked out.
Alena briefly stopped halfway through her living room to think about what had happened after she black out. It was clear that she had made her decision, that she had made the right decision as she was safe with her family, the oracles were still around as was Samuel, Daniel, Dean and both packs of wolves. She wondered what had happened to Tabitha, Adrian and the rogues and dark ones that had joined forces with Tabitha. She made a mental note to ask about that later.
She was too focused on finding Samuel and telling him that she could remember that she loved him. She didn't bother putting shoes on as she switched on the kitchen lights and headed straight for the back door, the keys left in the hole as if someone had known she would need them.
"Alena?" She heard her dad called from the top of the stairs as she paused with the door slightly open.
"Dad, I love you." She shouted at the top of her voice.
She didn't waste another second as she threw the kitchen door open the rest of the way and stepped out in to the winter air. Her small frame shock from the cold but she pushed it aside as she began to run to the woods surrounding her back garden. She had her mind focused on one thing and one thing only and she knew that he would be in the woods, watching her house as he had promised.
"Samuel!" She shouted at the top of her lungs as she rushed into the sea of trees, the moonlight providing a source of light for her.
She could hear her parents calling her name from behind her but she didn't stop as she waded through the thick forest.
It was as if everything made sense. The bite mark she had seen on her neck was Samuel's mark; he had claimed her as his own. She now knew that the injuries she had gotten weren't from a random wolf attack, that it had been a made up story to tell everyone else and had in fact been from a rogue wolf during the attack. It felt as if a great weight had been lifted off of her shoulders as she bathed in her memories, even the bad ones offered her comfort.
She grabbed on to trees and branches for support as she made her way further into the trees. She could hear the sound of footsteps, of paws as they stopped with her. She looked up to see that two wolves were watching her though the bushed, she knew that they had shown who they were in hopes that she would scream and run away but she didn't.
She grinned as she recognised the eyes of the two wolves that were watching her closely, "hi protectors."
She laughed as she took in there shocked expressions. It was clear that they had not expected that sort of reaction from her but she was amused at the two shocked looking wolves. She began to wade her way through the bushes again, snapping the two wolves out of there haze as she heard the sounds of bones breaking and cracking as the two shifted into their human forms.
"Samuel!" She called again as she found herself in the middle of a small clearing.
"Alena? What are you doing here? It's dangerous." He called out as he emerged from the trees, dressed in only a pair of shorts as he made his way towards her. She could tell that he had just shifted by the way his hair was sticking out in all different directions whilst he was missing a shirt and some shoes. She wanted to take in the glorious sight of her mate standing half naked in front of her but she didn't have time.
She smiled as she began to run towards him as fast as she could, her only destination was his arms. She wanted, needed, to be wrapped in Samuel's arms as she bathed in the warmth, love and comfort they offered to her. She could see that Samuel was shocked and she couldn't help but giggle as she launched herself into him. Samuel instantly caught her as she wrapped her arms around his next and her legs clamped down on both his sides as they were sent to the floor.
"Alena!" Daniel and Dean called from behind her at the same time but she ignored them both.
"What are you doing?" Samuel asked, shocked as his large arms wrapped around her small waist, holding her to him as she lifted her head so that she was looking down into his eyes, her hair falling onto his shoulders as she cupped his face between her hands.
"I love you." She told him as she held her breath.
She watched as he absorbed what she had just declared. She felt butterflies gather in her stomach as she looked at his face, it was as if she could see the clogs moving in his head as she processed her words.
Samuel's eyes flashed a golden colour as it finally clicked what she was saying, what she had meant when she told him that she loved him. It happened so fast that she hadn't seen it happen as she now lay under him, her legs still wrapped around his waist, drawing her closer to him whilst her hands cupped his face. Samuel held his weight on his forearms as his head dipped so that their noses were touching.
"You mean?" He asked. She could see the hope in his eyes, the love and adoration her felt for her, the glint of excitement.
"I remember everything, I remember you, my Alpha, my werewolf mate, my boyfriend, my future husband and the father of our future children." She couldn't help but grin.
She remembered that Samuel had said something similar to her and now she was repeating his words back to him. She couldn't wait for the day that she became Samuel's wife, the day that her stomach was swollen and her back and feet ached from carrying Samuel's children. She blushed a she realised that she would be giving herself to Samuel, and that it would be very soon, the thought caused bot excitement and nerves to gather within her.
"I thought you'd forgotten me completely." Samuel whispered, pain evident in his voice as she rubbed her thumbs across his cheek bones.
"I could never, ever forget you completely; I just needed a little push." She told him softly.
"I thought I lost you." He was speaking in soft whispers as his eye closed. She knew that they weren't the only ones in the clearing; she had heard her parent's clumsy arrival as they had been shushed by Daniel and Dean. She had heard the advance on many paws and knew that most of the packs, her pack were watching the two.
"You could never lose me." She told him firmly. "I will always be here by your side."
"Promise?" He asked his voice raw with vulnerability.
"I promise." She told him as she watched his eyes slowly open.
"I love you, my beautiful little mate." He told her as he nudged his nose against her own.
"I love you Samuel."
Samuel didn't hesitate to press his lips against her own. She knew that he had meant to give her a small kiss as they were both aware of the many eyes boring into them both but for once she didn't care as she pressed her lips harder against his. She felt his hand cup the back of her neck, holding her to him whilst the other wrapped around her waist and pulled her flush against him.
She had never felt more loved, safe, warm and adored than she did in that moment, wrapped in the arms of her werewolf Alpha mate.
