This could have went one of two ways. I hand myself over and nothing happens to Ocean and Connor or I hand myself over and he screws me over and still hurts them.
One thing I did not expect was the noise I heard from the inside of my bag, the sudden bang and string of colourful curses which made me jump backwards.
Looking up, I stared into the the frozen, hooded silver eyes that dangerously eyed me, signalling me to throw my bag towards him. I felt as if I had suddenly been thrown into the Sahara as my mouth went dry and my body started heating up, yet I shivered as I looked into those cruel eyes once more.
Quick flashbacks to when I was facing him a few years ago chilled me to the core; the smirk that was on his face at the time was completely gone now as he took my phone out and his face contorted into confusion as he showed me my phone screen. Just as I caught the name of the caller - Derek - I screamed in my head.
How stupid was I to forget to end the call with him after I got out of the car? Now I could be endangering the lives of more than just mine.
Slowly, I raised my hands in surrender, trying to push back the feeling that I was making a mistake, and made my way towards him. No words needed to be exchanged to know that I was surrendering myself yet Silver didn't look content with me just giving up like this.
"Actually, I've changed my mind. Just because of that hilarious stunt with the phone, I'm keeping Ocean and Connor and I'm having you as well. I won't hurt them... unless you pull a stunt like that again. I can't promise what I'll do and what I won't. Don't try anything smart with me." he said, his words laced with poison and menace, his eyes boring into mine as I stood there, scared to hell and back.
I looked once more at Ocean and Connor, their eyes not even trying to mask the evident horror and fear which they held, silently begging me to get them out of this predicament. Once more, I had managed to endanger the lives of innocent people, people who were important to me.
With a sudden rush of adrenaline, I decided that even if I wasn't getting out of here, I was getting Ocean and Connor out. Running at him at a speed I didn't even know I had in me, I flung myself at him, catching him off guard as he stumbled back yet, he was too strong and held a considerable advantage over me as his muscle-mass must have been triple of what I had on me. Never had I actually payed attention to the self-defence lessons that I was taught and I cursed myself, knowing that this moment was one of the many situations I needed those skills for.
Trying to remember what I had been taught, I got up and as he was still dazed from my sudden attack, I took the opportunity to pull him down by wrapping my foot around his leg, pulling him into the floor but before I could land another attack, he flipped me over and pulled my arms behind my back, the searing pain in my shoulders telling me that if he pulled any tighter, my shoulder would dislocate.
My struggling did nothing as he held me down with ease. Bile rose up my throat as he leaned down and whispered in my ear.
"I was hoping that you would willingly give yourself up to me, but your struggle just made this all the more fun. Don't worry, I don't plan on doing anything to your friends, but I need you to answer me a few questions. If you don't comply, I won't hesitate on your small friends. They mean nothing to me but I need you if I want this to work."
Screaming, I kicked and struggled at a new intensity but all of a sudden, I felt the weight lift off of my back and heard a loud grunt. Once I had turned, I saw Derek and Silver both having pulled a gun on each other. To say I was surprised was a minor understatement. My blood turned cold as I stared at them, my mind scrambling for a way to make them stop before Derek or any of the others got hurt. My body was still throbbing from Silvers body-weight but with a newfound strength, I kicked him in the soft area between his legs, him doubling over in pain confirming that I had managed to hit him where it hurt.
I saw Derek raise the gun towards his head but I really didn't want him to have a criminal record because of me.
"Derek, put down the gun" I whispered but he ignored me, as if he couldn't hear me.
"Derek, I said put the gun down" I said, considerably louder this time; once again, he acted as if I didn't exist.
Finally getting fed up with his clear ignorance, I forcefully took the gun from him, quickly pushing his hand and gun in opposite directions, sending the firearm in the opposite direction to where his arm was going.
His eyes widened as they met mine.
"Why did you do that? That bastard was going to kill them!" he exclaimed, pointing towards Ocean and Connor. It was only then I noticed the evident relief on both of their faces as they looked at Derek, their faces full of respect and awe, as if he was their guardian angel. But Derek couldn't care less as he took another handgun out of his trousers, shooting Silver in the leg, Jack's scream letting us know that Derek had not missed. He looked up and the icy glare he shot me and Derek was enough to put the world back into an ice age.
"At least this time, he won't be able to come after you for a while." but his eyes refused to meet mine, even though he had just saved my life.
I looked to find Derek's eyes but they held none of the familiar fondness of our childhood. I couldn't blame him, the way I had sent him away must have been horrible from the eyes of the receiver. I knew it would take a while before he wanted to even talk to me properly again.
Once the adrenaline rush was over, I felt myself becoming limp and the world stared bubbling up, as if it were becoming foggy. I tried to stand straight but this was a fight I wouldn't win. I felt myself falling, the darkness engulfing me as I felt two strong arms catching me before I hit the ground.

A/N: So our childhood sweetheart came to rescue Maya and her friends but do you think that he'll ever forgive Maya? In some of the chapter to come, I will give you a flashback of what happened between Maya and Derek.
I've given you quite an action packed chapter for now and the next chapters should also be a bit more calm in the action department but who knows what Maya's going to be getting up to instead ;))
If you guys think this chapter deserved it, please leave it a vote and a comment. I'd appreciate it :)
See yall later!
