"Barbecue chicken?" I called out from the kitchen.
"Here!" Josie replied from the living room.
"Shawarma?" I yelled.
"Yes! It's here" Titi responded.
"Ice cream?" I thundered.
"E dey here oo!" Chi-girl bellowed.
"What is missing there?"
"Drinks and the fried chips!" Josie squealed with excitement.
"Oh! I'm coming," I replied and arranged the hot fried potatoes and cold drinks on a tray. I lifted it and strode to the living room. I resumed my seat beside Josie on the floor as we made a big circle around the food.
Chi-girl was the DJ and a sweet beat boomed in the room. We started to eat and sing along for awhile but then, we got to the truth and dare part.
"Truth or dare?" Josie asked me.
"Truth! I fear nothing," I said amidst giggles.
"What's going on with you and Prince and do you like him?" she quizzed.
"We are obviously dating!"
"I know and do you like him or is this relationship just for cruise like your previous ones?" She said laying emphasis on the word cruise.
"Actually, it was meant to be for cruise. That was the agreement in the contract. He spices my life with some fun and I help him break his supposed marriage," I said in one breath.
"Did she just say fun? What kind of fun are we talking about her?" Josie exclaimed.
"Did I just hear contract?" Chi-girl gasped.
Titi spat the drink in her mouth and screamed, "He is married?"
"I don't understand! Explain now," Josie yelled.
"Take a chill pill, babe! Why are you shouting?" I snorted and narrowed my eyes at her.
"Sorry ma!" She said and chuckled.
"Where will I start from? Hmm..." I trailed off.
"Answer this first! Do you like him?" Titi asked.
"Hmm..." was my reply.
"You are an idiot. Do you know that?" Chi-girl snarled and eyed me.
"Actually! My relationship with Prince is fake. We signed a contract that we'll date for three months. While I stop his arranged marriage, he fills in as the boyfriend in my life. Full stop. And Yes! I like him. The problem is that he isn't interested in a serious relationship. In conclusion, please help me"
The girl stared with their jaws dangling.
"Narrate everything from the beginning!" Titi pleaded with her hands clasped together.
"With details! I need that juicy details," Josie said, rubbing her palms as a goofy smile slid to her face.
"I'm just interested to know how you fell for Prince. The Anita I know doesn't fall easily. You guys have just dated for two months. How did he win your heart?"
I sighed with a satisfied smile. Time to pour out my thoughts and experience with them.
An hour later, the girls' eyes were sparkling with interest.
"Awwwn!" They all squealed when I narrated what happened downstairs with Prince.
"Yeah! So that's all that has happened so far," I concluded.
"Prince is like the nicest and sweetest guy I've ever met. He's perfect for you. You guys make a good couple and he knows how to intrude into your life even when you're being stubborn like a goat. Please note that word goat because you are," Chi-girl ranted. "I mean...If Prince hadn't butted in, your dad might still be fighting in the hospital. I'm so glad he helped. He's a great guy".
"I ship you guys. Printa! Prince and Anita!" Josie crowed.
"Printa!" Titi exclaimed and guffawed with delight.
"Guyyyyyysss!" I called out. "How can I make him fall in love with me before the end of this month. This is the last month, you know!"
"Oh! Hmm..." Titi voiced and stroked her jaw. "I feel you should do a lot of great things with him. Since staying with his family is frustrating, help him rent an apartment. Help him set it up. I want you to help him in all you can".
"Titi, what are you saying? You want to turn our Anita to helper ni?" Chi-girl queried.
"No imagine she becomes part of his everyday life, Prince won't be able to imagine life without her. He might even fall for her when he sees but her outer and inner beauty. He needs to taste the food of the awesome chef Anita," Titi divulged.
"You are right oo!" Josie exclaimed. "But we don't want him to get use to her, we want him to like her genuinely that he won't want to let her go. Maybe we can then start to prepare wedding cake!"
We all turned our gaze to Josie. "Haba! You no wan marry?" she directed the question to me.
My thoughts ran wild. The image of Prince being my husband made me happy. I knew deep down that if he should propose to me now, I'll reject.
Wait! Were you expecting me to accept? I can't na. He hasn't fallen deeply in love with me yet. I don't like to rush processes. I'll try to get to know him well first.
However, I know I can spend the rest of my life with a man like Prince.
"Girls!" Titi called out between laughter. "Let's check google now. How to make your crush like you!"
"When shall thou have sense?" Chi-girl implored and snickered.
"See you! The world is a global village oo"
So that's how we found ourselves on our phones. We then agreed on two points. Be yourself! Let your personality out!
My question is this, what if you have a crazy personality like me?
The moment I asked that question aloud, Chi-girl replied, "If he is the right guy for you, he will like you for who you are. You might have this crazy, loud and fun personality but I know you aren't a bad person so don't be worried about that".
"Awwn! See Chi-girl being all sweet to Anita. I knew she was your favorite!" Josie said, pretending to cry.
"Shut up or I'll bite you!" Chi-girl chortled.
Josie mumbled and folded her arms over her chest.
"T or D?" I asked and narrowed my gaze at Chi-girl.
"Why are you looking at me?"
I smirked.
"Anita, why are you looking at me like that na?"
"You are next! I'm to ask you"
"Sure! Dare!"
"Chi-girl, I dare you to eat one of the fresh red pepper in the kitchen!"
"Ah ahan! What is doing you?" Chi-girl howled and hopped to her feet. "Why na?"
"Eat it jor! Don't stress me," I cackled.
"Where is your heart?"
"I don't have a heart anymore...."
Chi-girl cut in, "I knew it!"
"I gave my heart to Prince!" I added with a smirk.
"Geez! We have an imposter among us. Hey, where is the real Anita? Confess now!" Chi-girl roared and picked a pillow from the floor. She leapt on me and began to attack me with the pillow.
"Pillow fight!" Titi cheered and we all found ourselves screaming and laughing.
"Girls! Sssshhhh!" I hushed. "If we make noisy, our neighbors will report us to our landlord and then, we will all find ourselves in the street!"
We all shushed and then the sound of a cricket echoed. That's how we burst into a boisterous laughter.
Later that night, we analyzed and digested Titi's relationship with one of her male client.
You know, Titi and Chi-girl still run their fashion business. They are my fashion designers. This client is an engineer and they have been having some connections. Titi feels that he might ask her out.
We chatted about this till we fell asleep on the rug in the living room with snacks spilt on the floor and pillows lying around us.
