55) Anxiety

Savi came to school to pick up Sai and Kiaan. She was thinking about the morning when she told everyone that she is on break, but for how long she couldn't tell them. She was thinking about how she is suffering, how she is holding herself that she couldn't scatter. The weight of her emotions was crushing her, making it hard to breathe.

How nightmares, how anxiety taking on her that she couldn't focus. The memories of her past haunted her, making it difficult to concentrate on the present. The anxiety was suffocating her, wrapping its dark tendrils around her mind and squeezing tight. She felt like she was losing herself, like she was disappearing into the abyss of her own fears.

She gulped a lump in her throat and looked around for her kids. But as she scanned the playground, she was met with an eerie silence. The school was strangely silent, the usual chatter and laughter of the children replaced by an unsettling stillness. The swings hung motionless, the slide stood empty, and the playground equipment seemed to loom over her like skeletal sentinels. Savi's heart skipped a beat as she felt a shiver run down her spine. Where were Sai and Kiaan?

Suddenly, she was hearing the voice of cries. The sound sent shivers down her spine, and her heart began to pound in her chest. The cries grew louder, more urgent, and Savi felt herself being transported back to a time she desperately wanted to forget. The voice was familiar, yet distant, like a memory she'd tried to bury deep within herself. Savi's eyes frantically scanned the playground, searching for the source of the cries, but there was no one in sight. The voice seemed to be coming from within her own mind...

She was feeling a lack of oxygen, panic rushing over her like a tidal wave. Her breath came in short gasps, her chest constricting with fear.

Where was Sai? Kiaan? She frantically scanned the playground, her eyes darting wildly around the empty swings and slides. Anxiety took a toll on her, its dark tendrils wrapping around her heart, squeezing tight. This time too, she will lose what she has. The thought echoed through her mind, a haunting refrain that threatened to consume her. Savi's vision began to blur, her legs trembling beneath her. She felt herself being pulled under, into the dark depths of her own despair...

She needed air. It was suffocating her. The panic was crushing her, making it hard to breathe. She somehow managed to bring out her phone and dial the home number, her fingers trembling as she waited for someone to answer.

"Hello?" Bhagyashree's voice was calm and soothing, a stark contrast to the chaos raging inside Savi.

"Mummy ji...Sai...Kiaan...have they come home?" Savi's words tumbled out in a rush, her voice shaking with fear. She felt like she was going to collapse, her legs trembling beneath her.

"Yes, beta, they're home," Bhagyashree replied, her voice warm and reassuring. "Rajat brought them. He was coming home early, so he picked them up."

Savi's grip on the phone relaxed slightly, her breath escaping in a shaky sigh. She felt a wave of relief wash over her, followed by a sense of embarrassment. Why had she panicked so much?

"Where are you, beta?" Bhagyashree asked, concern etched in her voice. "You sound upset. Is everything okay?"

Savi took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "I...I'm at the school," she stammered. "I came to pick up Sai and Kiaan, but I couldn't find them anywhere."

Bhagyashree's voice was soothing. "Don't worry, beta. They're safe at home. Why don't you come home now?"

As soon as she cut the phone, Savi felt a wave of realization wash over her. She knew that something wasn't right with her. The panic, the anxiety, the overwhelming fear that had gripped her...it was all too much.

She took a deep breath and looked around, trying to calm herself down. But the school playground, once a place of joy and laughter, now seemed ominous and threatening.

Savi knew that she needed help. She couldn't keep going on like this, trapped in a cycle of fear and anxiety. She needed someone to talk to, someone who could help her make sense of her emotions.

Or, to say it more clearly, she needed a doctor. A psychiatrist, to be specific. Someone who could help her navigate the dark waters of her own mind.

Savi hesitated, wondering if she should tell Rajat about her decision to seek help. She knew he cared about her, and would likely want to support her.

But then she closed her eyes, a wave of uncertainty washing over her. Why should she bother him with her demons when he himself had too much to fight with? Rajat's own struggles, his own fears and anxieties...didn't he have enough to deal with already?

Savi's mind whispered that she was being selfish, that she should share her burdens with the people who care for her. But another part of her, a part that felt fragile and vulnerable, urged her to keep her struggles hidden, at least for now.

She would face her demons alone, or with the help of a professional. But for now, she wouldn't burden Rajat with her troubles.

Savi came back home, her mind still reeling from the events of the day. She pushed open the door and stepped inside, her eyes scanning the familiar surroundings. The warm glow of the living room lights, the sound of laughter and chatter, the smell of freshly brewed coffee...it all felt like a haven, a refuge from the turmoil that had been brewing inside her.

As she entered, she saw Tara and Ridhi pulling Lucky's leg, teasing him mercilessly about something. Lucky was laughing and pretending to be annoyed, but it was clear he was enjoying the attention. Rajat was busy on his laptop, his brow furrowed in concentration as he typed away. Sai and Kiaan were sitting on the floor, engrossed in building a tower with blocks. The room was filled with the sound of their giggles and the clatter of blocks as they worked together.

For a moment, Savi just stood there, taking it all in. She felt a pang of love and gratitude for this little family of hers.

As she saw them all laughing and smiling together, Savi felt a surge of emotion well up inside her. She wanted to yell at Rajat, to scream at him for scaring her half to death by picking up the kids without telling her. She wanted to demand to know why he hadn't called her, why he hadn't warned her.

But she couldn't. Something held her back, maybe the fear of upsetting the peaceful atmosphere, or maybe the fear of revealing her own fragile emotional state. Whatever it was, Savi's anger and frustration were trapped inside her, simmering just below the surface.

Savi then came beside Sai and set down and pat ger hair, " Mumma loves you so much."

Sai looked up at her with big, sparkling eyes and smiled, her face lighting up with joy. "I love you too, Mummy," she said, throwing her arms around Savi's neck. Her small hands wrapped tightly around Savi's neck, and she squeezed her gently.

Savi hugged her tightly, feeling a wave of love and gratitude wash over her. She buried her face in Sai's hair, inhaling the sweet scent of her daughter's shampoo. The softness of Sai's hair and the warmth of her small body were like a balm to Savi's frazzled nerves.

Kiaan, not wanting to be left out, crawled onto Savi's lap as well, and she wrapped her arms around both of her children, holding them close. Kiaan snuggled into the crook of her arm, his small body relaxing into her warmth.

As she held her children, Savi felt a sense of peace settle over her, a sense of calm that she hadn't felt in a long time. It was as if the world had slowed down, and all that mattered was this moment, this feeling of love and connection with her children. The anxiety and fear that had been plaguing her seemed to melt away, replaced by a sense of tranquility and peace.
