38) Rajat is disappointed

In the evening, Sai and Kiaan were engrossed in a game, with Sai firmly in charge. Kiaan was happy to follow her lead, not minding that he was being bossed around. The game was a classroom scenario, with Sai acting as the teacher and Kiaan as the student.

Just as Sai was scolding Kiaan for not paying attention, Savi walked in with two glasses of chocolate milk. "Hey kids, I brought you a special treat!" she exclaimed.

But Sai was not pleased with the interruption. "You can't disturb our class, Pari mumma!" she said sternly, wagging her finger at Savi.

Savi chuckled and played along. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Teacher Sai! I didn't mean to disrupt the lesson. May I join the class, please?"

Sai's face lit up with a smile. "Okay, Pari mumma! But you have to be a student, just like Kiaan."

Savi grinned and took a seat next to Kiaan. "I'm ready to learn, Teacher Sai! Please proceed with the lesson."

Kiaan looked at Savi with a hint of a smile, and for a moment, his eyes sparkled with amusement. Savi's heart skipped a beat as she saw a glimmer of the happy, carefree Kiaan she was determined to help him become.

Savi's expression turned stern again. "But before that, both of you finish the milk!" she commanded, handing Sai and Kiaan their glasses of chocolate milk.

Sai and Kiaan exchanged a glance, and then they both smiled and raised their glasses in a silent toast. "Cheers!" Sai said, clinking her glass against Kiaan's.

Kiaan smiled slightly, and they both took a sip of the milk. Savi watched them, a satisfied smile on her face. Then sai "Now, let's get back to the lesson. Pari mumma, you have to learn your ABCs."

Savi grinned, playing along. "Okay, Teacher Sai! I'm ready to learn."

As the game continued, Savi noticed that Kiaan's enthusiasm began to wane. He started to respond mechanically, his eyes glazing over as he retreated into his own thoughts.

Savi's heart went out to him, and she tried to re-engage him in the game. But Kiaan's responses became increasingly monosyllabic, and Savi could sense his emotional withdrawal.

Sai, sensing the change in Kiaan's demeanor, asked him, "Kiaan bhaiya, what's wrong? You look sad."

Kiaan shrugged, his eyes dropping. "Nothing," he muttered.

Savi's instincts told her that something was bothering Kiaan, but she didn't push him to talk. Instead, she gently asked, "Kiaan, are you tired? Do you want to go to sleep?"

Kiaan nodded, his eyes still downcast. "Yeah... I want to sleep."

Savi nodded, her heart aching for the troubled young boy. She helped Kiaan get ready for bed, while Sai gave him a goodnight hug.

As Kiaan settled into bed, Savi sat beside him, stroking his hair. "Goodnight, Kiaan. Sleep tight," she whispered.

Then, Kiaan's eyelids drooped, and he fell asleep, leaving Savi to wonder what secrets he was hiding, and how she could help him heal.

As Savi was about to leave the room, Kiaan's hand shot out and grasped her wrist, holding her back. Savi's heart skipped a beat as she looked down at Kiaan's peaceful face, his eyes closed in sleep.

But then, Kiaan's voice, barely above a whisper, sent shivers down Savi's spine. "Don't beat my mumma... please... mumma...mummaaa."

Savi's eyes welled up with tears as she realized the depth of Kiaan's emotional scars. She gently sat down beside him, stroking his hair, and whispering softly, "Shh, Kiaan... no one will hurt your mumma. I'm here for you, and I'll always protect you."

As she spoke, Savi felt a surge of determination to help Kiaan heal, to help him overcome the traumas of his past. She held his hand, feeling a deep connection to this vulnerable young boy, and whispered, "I'm here, Kiaan. You're safe now."

Savi gently lay down beside Kiaan and Sai, wrapping her arms around them both. As she held them close, she felt a deep sense of love and responsibility towards these two vulnerable children.

As the three of them slept together, Savi's presence seemed to bring a sense of peace and security to the children. Kiaan's grip on Savi's hand relaxed, and Sai snuggled deeper into Savi's side.

In that moment, Savi knew that she had found her true role - as a mother, a caregiver, and a source of love and comfort for these two precious children.

Rajat walked into the dark and quiet house, the silence a stark contrast to the warmth and laughter that had filled the rooms earlier. He was used to coming home to an empty house, Aashika having never bothered to wait up for him or even ask about his day.

He shrugged off his jacket and headed to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. As he poured himself a glass, he couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. He had been looking forward to spending some time with Savi, maybe even talking to her about his day.

But as he thought about it, he realized that he was being foolish. Savi had made it clear from the beginning that she was only marrying him for Sai's sake. He had no right to expect anything more from her.

Rajat took a sip of his water, the cool liquid doing little to soothe the ache in his heart. He couldn't help but wonder if he would ever find someone who would truly care for him, someone who would wait up for him at night and ask about his day.

As he stood there, lost in thought, Rajat couldn't shake off the feeling that he was just a means to an end for Savi, a way for her to provide a stable home for Sai. And that realization hurt more than he cared to admit.

Rajat's thoughts turned to Kiaan, his little son whose childhood had been marred by Aashika's neglect and cruelty. He felt a surge of anger and resentment towards his ex-wife, but he pushed those feelings aside and focused on his son.

He quietly made his way to Kiaan's room, not wanting to disturb him if he was sleeping. As he entered the room, he was surprised to see Savi sleeping beside Kiaan and Sai, her arms wrapped protectively around them both.

Rajat's heart swelled with emotion as he gazed at the peaceful scene before him. For the first time in a long time, he felt a sense of hope and happiness. Maybe, just maybe, Savi's presence in their lives would bring some much-needed joy and stability to his children.

As he stood there, watching over his children and their caregiver, Rajat felt a sense of gratitude towards Savi. She may have married him for Sai's sake, but she was already making a positive impact on Kiaan's life, and that was all that mattered.
