Chapter 3

THUNK

Tala cursed under her breath as she dropped to the ground of her cabin with the weight of the man laying on her. He was like a damn log and luckily for her completely out of it otherwise that would have hurt. He smelled like a distillery and she HATED it. Pushing out from underneath him. She glances back to her kitchen table where another man lied with his torso already wrapped up. She takes another deep breath before bending over and lifting the stone of a man from under his arms and dragging him to the couch.

"For the love of-" she grits her teeth together using all her strength to get him on the couch.

She flops down beside the couch for a minute feeling exhausted. These men were lucky she had heard the crash. Her home was only thing around for miles and she liked it that way. She immediately threw on her winter gear and got her snowmobile ready. She was lucky she still had her medical bag pack. She began driving blindly in the snow only rely on where she had heard the crash go down at when luckily she saw the debris up ahead. She pushed down making it move faster. She jumped off just as a red flare lit the night sky. Her eyes going to the spot to find a man in a thin shirt lying in the snow. His leg was bleeding but not nearly as bad as the man beside him. His torso was soaked in blood. She quickly grabbed an emergency blanket throwing over the first man before going to the second man and looking at his torso. The wound was deep and needed immediate attention. She made it stable enough for them to travel. Luckily she was able to get both men on but not without difficulty.

BARK

"Shit" Tala groans rolling over to open the door to her room. "Bear sit"

The very large husky looked up at his owner but sat regardless. She went back to the man on her couch and sat down. The damage on him was his upper thigh. She either had to cut through the jeans or pull them down. Since she knew she had no other pants here for them she decided to be reasonable and try to pull them down. She focused on his damage rather than the fact that she was stripping a man. Luckily he was wearing snug fitting boxer briefs allowing her to see the damage without having to mess further. It was a deep cut but not fatale, she injected him with a numbing agent before beginning to sterilize and sew it up. She finished up and then wrapped it.

She sat back and looked to Bear who met her eyes. She patted her leg making him come over to her. Her fingers going through his fur as he rested his chin upon her leg. She looked back at the two men wondering what their story is. Her attention being drawn to the large window of her cabin home where she can see the never ending snow drowning out everything else. The weather reports said this was going to be a bad one. Why on earth would anyone attempt to fly in this?!?

She stood up placing a blanket over the man on the couch followed by taking another thick blanket to her kitchen table placing it over the other man. His wound could have been fatale if he had tried to remove it without someone who knew what they were doing. He wasn't out of the woods just yet but way better than an hour ago when they both were dying of hypothermia.

Shaking her head, she takes both men's bloody clothes and tries to rinse them clean before throwing them in the washing machine and running it. Her eyes once again going back to both men. The man on her table was slimmer of the two but still physically fit. He had dark blonde hair cut short and a nice bronze tan. He didn't appear to have any tattoos which couldn't be said for the second specimen in her home. The man on the couch had longer brown hair and tattoos ran up his arms disappearing under the safety of the shirt. He was broad and built.

She pinched the bridge of her nose wondering what the hell she is going to do now. She hadn't been around men in a very long time and now she had two unconscious ones in her home. Refusing to allow her mind to drift to the past, she decides to feed Bear. The beautiful husky instantly coming over to dive into the bowl. She doesn't feel too hungry and decides to put up the medical bag. She grabs it gulping audibly as she took it to the spare room. Boxes still littered the room but she wasn't ready to go through them yet. She put the bag down and exited the room breathing in relief once the door was closed again.

A groan makes her head snap up. Her feet taking her back to the living room and kitchen area. Her eyes go from the man on the table who is still completely unconscious to the man on the couch. His brows are pinched in distress and his head is sweating profusely. Her feet instantly taking her to him. She leans down beside him touching his forehead to find a fever setting in. She goes to her kitchen grabbing a bowl and and wash cloth before filling the bowl with cold water and walking it to the living room. She pulls the coffee table closer sitting on the edge while she rings out the rag bringing it to the man's head. His brows begin to relax as she continues to dab him.

She begins to take a closer look to the man before her. His brown hair falling naturally to one side. He has a trimmed beard that suits his features. She can tell he has a sharp jaw line just lingering below it. She doesn't even realize it when her hand goes to brush the few strands of his hair back away from his face. His face relaxing completely at the touch releasing a breath. The smell reminding her exactly what she doesn't want to. This man was obviously drunk... maybe he caused the crashed?

The sound of wind whistling outside made her attention once again to the window. The disregard her previous thought knowing this storm was the obvious cause of the accident. She felt horrible remembering how she left the body of the captain out there. She had no choice if she wanted to save the two men that currently laid in her home. She only hoped she could retrieve him once the storm subsided. It was only thing she could really do for the man's family. That thought alone making her feel a tug in her chest. She shook her head turning back to the man on her couch once again.

The next hour passed with her continue dabbing his forehead before the fever seem to have broken. She rested the rag on his forehead before standing and walking over to the man on the table. She checked his pulse and his temperature finding them to be somewhat normal. She checked his dressing to find it needed to be changed. A nudge to her leg made her look down to find Bear looking at her with a tilt to his head.

"Don't look at me like that... I have to take care of them."

He barked in return before going into the living room laying down on his king size pillow placed on the ground. His eyes remaining trained on his mistress. Tala turns her attention back to the man on the table. She carefully removes the dressing before cleaning it and wrapping it once more. A loud groan is heard behind her but her arms were currently below the body of the man on the table so she could turn to look at him.

She cursed under her breath when her hand became stuck under the unknown man. She wanted to yank it free but worried about the repercussions of jerking the man. She slowly began wiggling her hand gently pulling it back while doing so. She let out a loud breath finally seeing her now free hand.

"Wh-What?"

She jerks her head over to the other man. His voice was raspy and scratchy. She felt her nerves beginning to take over. She gulped but turned picking up the amnesia and filling a needle with it just in case. Her eyes turning back looking to the back of her couch. Her feet slowly treading over to the couch glancing over it while she rounded it. The man was barely awake, his eyes appearing to try staying awake but failing. Her body relaxed slightly at his state. She sat down the needle before going to stand at his side taking off the rag making his brown eyes snap open to her. The breath escapes her lungs as he doesn't blink continuing to stare directly at her.

"A-Angel"

Her brows furrow in confusion but his eyes close once again and do not reopen. She checks his temperature and finds it to be fine. She runs her fingers through his hair a few times before standing up glancing at both men. They appear to be stable enough so she walks over to the chair next to the window right next to Bear's pillow. The husky had fallen asleep by the warmth of the fireplace. She takes the blanket laying on the armrest pulling it up to her chin as she looks outside.

She couldn't seem to let her eyes close as her worry not only for the safety of the men... but the safety of herself. She didn't know these men, and you can't trust what you don't know. Her eyes continued to glance at the men before falling back on the raging snow outside. A sinking feeling falling on her not sure what tomorrow was going to bring but praying she could handle it. After so long, exhaustion finally grasped onto her pulling her into oblivion.
