In the previous chapter:

"Actually, My friends and I planned to go to the amusement park on next Sunday too and there is a fountain show afterwards which requires atleast 5 people at a time so I was wondering as you and Julia were going there too.... Maybe we all could go together! I think it's around 7pm. What do you say? Only if it's not interrupting you plans...."

I already turned down her offer earlier, there is no way I will hurt her again, "Sure!"

She smiled and walked away.

Little did I realise that I may or may not have decided all this without Julia knowing anything.

JULIA'S POV :

Quickly entering inside the house I went upstairs closed--- more like slammed the door of the room and threw myself to my bed.

Julia you're stupid.

Yes. You are.

You indeed freaking are.

I effing kissed my guy friend on this freaking cheek.

Sue me. I made everything so awkward.

Bruh--

I stoved my head in my pillow to process the spectacular deed I did.

I heard my room's door open.

There he was. The king of childishness, the one and only, my younger brother. He looked dead into my eyes as if I threw his iPad out of window, and then shook his head in disappointment.

"Either you got badly rejected by big bro Ryan or your date just got confirmed and you're happy," he concluded

"It's neither you idiot. Why would you think that?" I asked raising a brow.

"That's because you came inside the house and slammed the door so hard that I literally thought there was an earthquake but then I thought maybe boyfriend issues but then I realised, you're my stupid sister, you ain't gonna have a boyfriend so yea,"

I--

You little--

"Just you wait," I said getting up from my bed. He immediately got scared and slammed the door closed and run downstairs.

So brave. Smh.

I changed into more comfy clothes and started to scroll through my phone when I noticed a text from the group.

Ryan
So would we go for shopping in the mall to buy kat gifts?

I was about to respond but I felt that maybe he will be upset with me so I didn't reply even though he must have seen that I have read the message but doesn't really matter.

Soon enough everyone started responding. When only me and Alex were left I replied with 'sounds cool'. Soon enough Alex replied too.

Alex

Sounds great! See y'all
But

And on that but he left us hanging.

I groaned as had to change into presentable clothes again. I got up and then I noticed a notification from Ryan.

Ryan
Is everything ok?

Yes ofc! Why did you ask?

Ryan

No, I just like you were ignoring me.

Wha? No. Not at all. I was
Just a lil busy!

Ryan

Ok....
See ya later!

Was it that obvious? I shook my head and then went to change.

I tapped my foot against the floor impatiently.

Alex is late.

Everyone was here in front of the mall's entrance. Everyone was talking to each other but I felt Ryan's gaze on the back of my head which I ignored.

I don't want things to be awkward.

Ryan seemed to notice my behavior and turned his head towards the boys.

"Guys, I'll be right back!" He announced.

After a few minutes I saw Ryan running towards us with Starbucks in his hand.

He isn't a fan of coffee though..

He turned towards me and dragged me to the corner.

"Julia I don't if I did something but to be honest I can feel like you're ignoring me, I am sorry for whatever I did. I just don't want you to act like that. Please?" He handed me the Starbucks.

I looked into his eyes and all I saw was concern. I turned my face to the side which was turning red.

This guy...

He is always in the mood to tease me and annoy me but he did all this out of concern.

I turned to him and gave him a cheeky smile, "Thank you!"

His eyes brightened and he smiled back, "So I guess we're cool? Let's go back to others,"

He started moving but I held this jacket with me two fingers. He turned around and raised an eyebrow.

"I promise to do one thing for you!"

His eyes widened and amused smile formed his lips. "Who knew coffee could do wonders and you better not forget this M'lady!"

Coffee can indeed do wonders but this time the wonder isn't done by coffee.

After half an hour the king decided to show up.

"Whaddup people?" He greeted while stuffing a burger in his mouth.

Everyone glared at him.

He gulped and asked, "Did I.... Did I do something wrong?"

We glared at him more intensely.

He turned towards me with an expression of cat about to pee itself.

"Alex you're an hour late," I elaborated.

"Wait what no! I told y'all in the group chat that I'll come a little late," he said while taking out of his phone from his pocket.

He opened his phone and soon enough his face paled, he visibly gulped, "Well, I um......,"

"forgot to press the send button," Renee completed.

"Yea..." Alex replied sheepishly.

We all faceplamed and then split into groups to buy gifts for Katherine.

Ryan and I ended up being together because Alex said that he need to impress the author so that he can marry food.

Yes. He still believes we're fictional characters. Smh

James' pov :

enee and I were literally just roaming aimlessly in the mall.

Everything was going pretty well and this didn't seem right. I planned on pissing Renee off.

"Oye!" I called whaking her head lightly.

She turned to me with flare in her eyes.

Tch she is so easy to annoy.

"What's wrong with you?" She asked me in her high pitched voice.

"I was wondering why don't you wear baggy clothes?"

She stopped and looked at me wordlessly like that bunny gif look of 'what'

"You know nerds usually wear baggy clothes," I finished.

She looked at me weirdly at first but  then suddenly smirked at me, "Thanks for the compliment. I know I have great fashion sense,"

Why is she smart?

We soon picked up gifts for Katherine and I saw Renee admire a necklace in one of the shops.

"You want it?"

She turned to me and then gave me a small smile, "I do but I didn't bring enough money,"

I was about to say that she can buy it later but then I noticed that 'special discount' on it.

"Btw you hungry?" I asked changing the topic.

She bought her hand to her stomach, observed it for a second and then turned to me, "Yes!"

I laughed amused at her behaviour. She is such a kid.

"Hey! Why are you laughing? Come back here!"

With that I started walking even faster. "Can't your short legs catch up with my speed?"

We reached the food court. I ordered the food and when I returned I saw Renee all pale and uncomfortable.

"Is everything ok?" I asked concerned. Is this because of that necklace?

She looked up at me with her big eyes and passed me a fake smile, "No, everything is perfect,"

"Hey! You can tell me if anything is wrong you know?"

She seemed to process my words for a few minutes and then she indicated me to come closer.

I went near her and she bought her mouth near my ear and whispered shyly, "Um, girl problem,"

After saying that she buried her face in her hands.

So she has her periods...

I took off my jacket and told her to tie it down her waist.

I had no clue what to do to comfort her.

I quickly googled about it and ordered a cup of hot chocolate for her.

I told her to wait for me by the time I get her some stuff girls use for periods.

She suddenly grabbed my hand and asked me confused, "Why are you doing this? Don't you hate me?"

I pulled her cheeks and said, "I still do silly!"

Instead of slapping my hands away she look one of my hands and placed it against her cheeks.

"Thank you James." She said in a soft voice and passed me a breathtaking smile.

I quickly withdrew my hand and mumered, "I'll go get the stuff,"

I ran away hiding my red face.
