Chapter 28. His Ruthless Redemption

Mishti's smile fades as she contemplates his question. "Love? What is love, Ajeeb Rajvansh? How does it feel?"

Abir closes his eyes, a gentle smile gracing his lips. When he opens them, his gaze is intense, filled with emotion. He points towards the moon, drawing her attention.

"Do you see that moon, Mishti? The moonlight loves the moon so much that it disappears during the day, just so the moon can stay. The moon remains, but with an emptiness, a lack of sparkle. And when the darkness returns, so does the light, giving life to the moon again. That's what love is, Mishti. It's about sacrificing for the one you love, even when it means losing yourself in the process. It's about holding on to memories and loving someone even when they're not there, being theirs completely, forever."

Mishti's eyes glisten with unshed tears, her heart swelling with emotions she hasn't allowed herself to feel in a long time. "That sounds so beautiful, Abir... but how do you know when you're in love?"

Abir smiles warmly, leaning closer. "When you close your eyes, and all you see is their face. When their smile brings a smile to your own, when every word they say is etched into your heart. When their name is the only thing that comes to your lips... that's love, Mishti."

Mishti closes her eyes, a small smile playing on her lips as memories of her time with Abir flood her mind. She whispers softly, "Ajeeb Rajvansh..."

Abir gazes at her, his eyes filled with love and longing. "Someone once told me this, with so much love," he says, his voice barely audible.

Mishti opens her eyes, looking at him with a mixture of emotions. She stands up suddenly, feeling overwhelmed. "I... I need to go," she stammered, beginning to walk away.

Abir watches her, his heart aching. "Happy Valentine's Day, Mishti," he whispers.

Mishti stands there, frozen, the weight of Abir's words sinking in. For a moment, she just stares at him, her emotions swirling inside her like a storm. Abir remains where he is, his eyes locked on hers, waiting. It's as if the world around them has paused, leaving just the two of them in this moment.

But instead of saying anything, Mishti turns and walks away, her footsteps echoing in the quiet night. She doesn't look back, but Abir watches her until she disappears into the hotel.

Back in her room, Mishti leans against the door, trying to steady her breath. Her mind races, replaying every word Abir said, every look he gave her. It's overwhelming. She feels the urge to cry but fights it, her fingers clenching into fists as she struggles to make sense of her emotions.

Kuhu stirs from her sleep as Mishti enters, her eyes fluttering open. She sees the distress on Mishti's face and sits up, concern evident in her voice. "Mishti? What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Mishti tries to muster a smile but fails. She shakes her head, forcing out a laugh. "It's nothing, Kuhu. Just... nothing."

Kuhu narrows her eyes, sensing there's more to it but decides not to push. "Well, whatever it is, remember you don't have to go through it alone. I'm here for you."

Mishti's heart aches at her sister's words. She nods and manages to say, "Thanks, Kuhu. I know."

Valentine's Evening at the Hotel

The evening is perfect-a crisp breeze carrying the scent of roses and the sky dotted with stars. The hotel, Abir's latest venture, is beautifully decorated with twinkling fairy lights, red and white balloons, and heart-shaped ornaments for the Valentine's Day party. The event also marks the grand inauguration of the hotel, making it an even more special occasion.

Abir stands on the stage, microphone in hand, the spotlight illuminating him as he addresses the guests gathered around. His voice is steady, but there's an undertone of emotion as he speaks.

"Thank you all for being here tonight. This hotel is more than just a business for me-it's a dream I've poured my heart into. And I'm grateful to have all of you here to share this special moment. I hope tonight's celebration brings you as much joy as it has brought me to create this place."

As he finishes, Abir's eyes find Mishti standing beside Kuhu in the crowd. His gaze softens, and for a moment, the world seems to shrink to just the two of them. Mishti smiles, a gentle acknowledgment of the bond they share, but there's a shadow of sadness in her eyes that Abir can't ignore.

The applause brings him back to the present, and he steps down from the stage, making his way to Mishti's side. They exchange a brief, wordless glance before being swept up by the crowd congratulating Abir on the inauguration.

The party kicks off in full swing, with music, laughter, and the clinking of glasses filling the air. Abir tries to lose himself in the celebrations, but his thoughts keep drifting back to Mishti, who stands quietly with Kuhu, seemingly lost in her own world.

Suddenly, Siddharth, grabs the microphone and calls out over the music, "Ladies and gentlemen, I've heard that Mr. Rajvansh is quite the singer. How about we get him to showcase his talent tonight?"

Abir frowns slightly, surprised. "Who told you that, Sid?"

Sid grins mischievously and points across the room. Following the direction of his finger, Abir's gaze lands on Kuhu, who's beaming at him like a child caught in a prank. Mishti is beside her, looking both curious and hopeful.

Abir sighs, knowing he can't refuse Kuhu's pleading eyes, and Mishti's quiet encouragement seals the deal. He nods reluctantly, making his way to the center of the hall. The lights dim, and a single spotlight falls on him as he takes a seat with a guitar in his hands.

The room falls silent as Abir strums the first chords, his voice filling the space with raw emotion.

Oh oh oh... oh oh oh oh oh..
Kal raste mein gham mil gaya tha,
Lag ke gale mein ro diya.
Jo sirf mera tha, sirf mera,
Main usse kyu kho diya.

As he sings, memories flood his mind-moments of pain and loss, the time when Mishti walked away, and the emptiness that followed. His voice carries the weight of all the emotions he's been holding back, and it resonates through the hall, touching every heart present.

Ha vo ankhen jinhen main chumta tha bewajha,
Pyar mere liye kyu unme bake na raha..

His gaze locks onto Mishti's as he sings, the lyrics a reflection of his longing. He remembers their past, the love that once blossomed between them, and the day she looked at him like a stranger, denying the bond they shared.

Humnava mere, tu hai to mere sanse chale,
Bata de kaise main jiyunga tere bina...

The song digs deeper into his pain, each word a plea for her to understand the depth of his feelings. Mishti's eyes well up with tears, her heart breaking as she realizes just how much Abir has suffered without her.

Har waqt dil ko jo sataye aise kami hai tu,
Main bhi na janu yeh ke itna kyu lazmi hai tu.
Neende jake na lauti, kitne ratein dhal gaye,
Itne taare gine ke ungliyan bhi jal gaye..

The haunting melody continues, and the room is filled with an overwhelming sense of loss and yearning. Abir's voice trembles slightly as he sings, but he holds back his tears, pouring every ounce of his emotion into the song.

Humnava mere, tu hai to mere sanse chale,
Bata de kaise main jiyunga tere bina...

He sings of nights spent sleepless, counting stars, each one a reminder of the loneliness he felt without Mishti by his side. The memories of her linger in his heart, as vivid as ever, despite the time that has passed.

Tu akhri aansu, oh yaara, hai akhri tu gham,
Dil ab kaha hai jo dubara de de kisi ko hum.
Apne shamo mein hissa fir kisi ko na diya,
Ishq tere bina bhi main tujse hi kiya...

His words reveal a truth that Mishti might have already known but never fully grasped until now-Abir never moved on. He never gave his heart to anyone else because it belonged to her, and always would.

Fasle na de ke main hun asare tere,
Bata de kaise main jiyunga tere bina...

Abir's voice wavers as he reaches the climax of the song, the plea in his words clear-he can't live without her. The crowd is captivated, but Mishti is the only one who truly understands the depth of his anguish.

The song ends, and for a moment, there's complete silence. Then, the crowd erupts in applause, but Abir barely notices. He stands, his heart heavy, and quietly excuses himself to the washroom, needing a moment to collect himself.

When Abir returns to the hall, still battling the emotions stirred by his performance, he's greeted by an unexpected sight. The crowd is gathered around Sid and Mishti, with Kuhu standing nearby, speaking animatedly.

Abir's heart skips a beat, and a sense of foreboding washes over him. He pushes through the crowd to see what's happening, and as he draws closer, he hears Kuhu's voice.

"This is a new chapter in their love story, one that I hope will bring them the happiness they deserve," Kuhu says, her voice filled with an unsettling mix of cheerfulness and something darker.

Abir's mind races, trying to make sense of her words. Mishti stands beside Sid, her expression unreadable, while Sid wears a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.

Kuhu finishes her speech with a flourish, and the crowd begins to murmur in approval. But Abir is frozen, the realization dawning on him like a slow, cold wave.

He watches as Sid takes Mishti's hand, and the meaning behind Kuhu's words hits him like a punch to the gut.

And with that realization, Abir feels his world shatter for the second time that night.

With a radiant smile, Kuhu's voice rang out, "Ladies and gentlemen, today is a day of celebration! On this auspicious occasion of love, we're about to witness a beautiful bond being formed. Please join me in congratulating Siddharth Nigam and Shrishti on their engagement!"

The crowd erupted in applause, but Abir stood at the entrance, rooted to the spot as shock washed over him. His heart pounded in his chest, and the world around him seemed to blur as Sid leaned in towards Mishti and whispered, "Go get ready, Shrishti. Come back soon."

Mishti hesitated, her eyes finding Abir's across the room. For a moment, the world seemed to fall away, leaving just the two of them locked in a silent exchange. But then, she turned and walked away, leaving Abir with his heart in tatters.

Abir's mind raced as he followed Mishti, his steps quickening as the storm inside him grew fiercer. He slammed the door of her room shut behind him, the loud bang reverberating through the room. Mishti turned sharply, startled by his sudden entrance.

Without a word, Abir closed the distance between them. He grabbed her by the shoulders, his grip tight, and pushed her against the wall. His face was inches from hers, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

"Why are you doing this?" he demanded, his voice low but filled with rage. "Why are you going through with this engagement? Do you love him, Mishti? Do you love him?"

Mishti's eyes filled with tears, but she bit her lip, refusing to let them fall. "Abir, please...please step back. You know this was arranged. Our marriage was supposed to happen."

Her words stung like a thousand needles, piercing through the fragile hope Abir had held onto. He drew even closer, his voice trembling with barely suppressed emotion. "I asked if you love him, Mishti. Answer me."

Silence hung in the air as Mishti struggled to find her voice. She pushed him away gently, her heart pounding in her chest. "Sid is waiting for me..."

But Abir, lost in his own turmoil, reached into his pocket and pulled out a gun. He pointed it at her head, his hand shaking. "If you're not mine, then you won't belong to anyone else. And I won't live either."

Mishti froze, her tears now streaming down her cheeks. Her voice trembled as she tried to reason with him. "Abir...please...youre hurting me."

" You promised me...you promised you wouldn't do this...you won't destroy yourself Abir, after I left you'll live your life "

Her words pierced through the fog of rage that clouded his mind. The gun slipped from his grasp, clattering to the floor as he took a step back. Abir's heart broke as he looked at her, and with one final, agonizing look, he turned and fled the room.

Outside, the celebration continued, but Abir was a man shattered by loss. He wandered through the crowd, barely aware of the people around him. His eyes followed Mishti as she descended the stairs, now dressed in the engagement attire. Her face was a mask of calm, but Abir could see the turmoil behind her eyes.

Memories of their time together played in his mind, each one a painful reminder of what he had lost.

As Mishti reached the bottom of the stairs and stood beside Sid, Abir could feel his heart breaking all over again.

The memory of that night, with Mishti lifeless in his lap, was a wound that had never healed. It was the worst nightmare of his life, one he could never escape. When Sid called out, "Shristi Nigam, Mrs. Shristi Nigam," it felt like a dagger had been plunged into his heart.

Mishti used to say, "Ajeeb Rajvansh, I will never leave you." But now, she was standing beside someone else, ready to give herself to another man.

No matter what happened, Abir knew that his heart would always belong to Mishti. She was his everything, and even though she was slipping away from him, he couldn't stop loving her.

He had convinced himself to let her go, to not reach out to her because she seemed happy with someone else. But that didn't stop the pain.
Even if she wasn't physically with him, she would always reside in his heart. Whether in his nightmares or his dreams, it was only her.

Mishti held the engagement ring in her hand, ready to slip it on her finger. Sid smiled at her, but Abir, standing in the shadows, could only watch with tears streaming down his face.

At that moment, Mishti's hands began to tremble. The ring felt like a lead weight in her fingers. Her mind flashed back to every moment she had shared with Abir-their laughter, their fights, their love. She looked up at Sid, who nodded encouragingly. But her heart was screaming in protest.

Suddenly, Mishti stepped back, pulling her hand away. Sid's smile faltered as he watched her hesitate.

Abir's heart stopped as he watched her turn and run out of the room, her eyes filled with tears. The crowd gasped in shock, but Sid and Kuhu exchanged a knowing smile. Abir couldn't believe what was happening. He had been prepared to lose her forever, but now she was running to him.

He rushed outside, desperate to find her. He knew exactly where she would be.
Abir found Mishti in the garden, the place he had carefully decorated to confess his love to her. She stood among the flowers, her back to him, her shoulders shaking with sobs. Abir approached her slowly, his heart aching as he watched her cry.

Suddenly, she turned and ran towards him, throwing her arms around his waist, clutching him as if her life depended on it. Abir closed his eyes, a faint smile playing on his lips as he held her close.

Through her tears, Mishti whispered, "When I close my eyes, all I see is you. Every smile of mine is because of you. You are in my heart, in every heartbeat, in every breath. I love you, Ajeeb Rajvansh. I love you so much."

Abir's tears flowed freely as he turned and embraced her fully. They clung to each other, their tears mingling, their hearts finally at peace.

Between her sobs, Mishti said, "I hurt you so much, didn't I? After I left, you must have gone through so much pain. My every action caused you suffering, didn't it? I'm sorry, Ajeeb Rajvansh. I'm so sorry." She hugged him tighter.

Abir, still crying, managed to say, "It was unbearable...do you know how I tried to cope without you? How I..."

He paused, suddenly realizing what she had just said. He pulled back slightly, looking at her in surprise.

"Mishti...you...you remember everything?"

A voice from behind them answered, "When did she ever forget you, Abir bro?" Abir looked up, startled, to see Sid, Kuhu, and Kunal standing there, smiling.

Abir, still in disbelief, stammered, "Wh...what do you mean?"

Kuhu, with a triumphant smile, replied, "It means, she might forget how to live, she can never forget you. She might forget how to breathe, but never her Ajeeb Rajvansh."

Kunal, with a playful grin, added, "I told you, didn't I, that Bhabhi could never forget you? But you never listen to me, do you?"

Abir, still confused, asked, "What are you trying to say, Nanko?"

Kunal, with tears in his eyes, explained, "When Bhabhi woke up from her coma, she lost faith in love. The pain of losing her parents and our little Champ made her believe that your love was a lie. She withdrew from the world, spending her days sitting in a dark corner, reliving old memories. She began writing her story... and that's when she met Sid... my little brother sid. It's because of him that I got my Bhabhi back."

Abir stumbled backward, the realization hitting him like a freight train. "You... you knew about Mishti? You met her?"

Siddharth stepped forward with a grin. "Yes, Dada, it was because of me that you were able to find Bhabhi. It's true that I posed as Mishti Bhabhi's fiancé, but the truth is, I'm just a publisher. She didn't want you to find her."

Kuhu, with a smile, added, "But you two have that heart-to-heart connection. You found her anyway. Sid was genuinely there to publish her story, but instead, he found you, and that's where this story really began."

Siddharth nodded, a playful glint in his eyes. "And inviting you here, under the guise of plotting with you, was all part of the plan to get you here to Lonavala. Otherwise, why would I give away Mishti's information so easily?" he said with a wink.

Kunal grinned, placing his hand on Sid's shoulder. "You thought you were the one trapping him in your plan, but little did you know, you were already caught in our trap."

Abir recalled his first meeting with Sid. "That's why you kept giving me those looks... and almost called me Ayaan instead of Mr. Rajvansh."

Sid chuckled. "I told you, remember? I said, 'Naam yaad karlo, kaam aayega.'"

Kunal continued, laughing, "But you were too busy focusing on Srishti Nigam to remember anything else! You even forgot my name-Kunal Nigam! Sid, or as I call him, Siddo, is my little brother. I kept telling you to move on, but your love was too true."

Abir's eyes widened in shock as he realized how everything had unfolded. "I can't believe I was so oblivious!"

Mishti smiled softly, placing her hand on Abir's cheek. "But I lost, Abir. Your true love won. I just wanted to see how deep your love for me really was. I'm sorry, Ajeeb Rajvansh. I'm so sorry."

Abir shook his head, pulling her into a tight embrace. As they hugged, Kuhu came up beside Mishti and hugged her, while Kunal did the same with Abir.

Siddharth stood off to the side, capturing the moment with a smile. Abir motioned for him to join them, and without hesitation, Sid joined the group hug, bringing them all together.

After a while, they all broke the hug, and Kuhu declared proudly, "See, I told you I would win, and look-I did!"

Abir, with tears of joy in his eyes, replied, "This loss is worth more than any victory," and he hugged Kuhu. Today was the best day of his life-he had his love back, his sister back, and he had gained a brother too.

Abir, after breaking the hug, walked over to Mishti. He knelt down, plucking a flower from the bushes and holding it out to her.

Aaj tera aks lekar ishq jaise aa gaya,
Tujhse milkar jism jaise rooh apne paa gaya,
Chal rahi thi saansein jaise tere intezaar mein,
Yun lage ha sadiyon se mein
Ghum hu 'TERE PYAAR ME'.

Abir looked into Mishti's eyes, filled with love. "Mishti, will you let me love you?"

Mishti smiled through her tears. She knelt down beside him, taking his hands in hers. "You have every right," she whispered. They embraced, holding each other close as possible.

Na waqt, na mausam, na baharon ke intezaar mein,
Yeh dil dhadakhta ha to sirf tere pyaar me...

And so, surrounded by love, laughter, and the warmth of their friends and family, Abir and Mishti's story reached its beautiful conclusion.

The End
