Chapter 14. The Labyrinth Of Echoes
Abir's anxiety escalated as he realized Mishti was missing from the car. Without a moment of hesitation and a surge of desperation, he plunged into the dense forest, his heart pounding with each step. The dense trees and thick underbrush seemed to close in around him as he called out her name, with increasing urgency.
"Mishtiiii!" His voice echoed through the trees, a mixture of fear and frustration. Filled with a desperate edge.
" Why does she need to run away like this."
His search seems endless. The forest was tangled mess of shadows and silence, save for that distant rustling of leaves. He moved quickly through the forest, but the only response was the rustling of leaves and the distant calls of birds. His search grew increasingly frantic. He could feel his breath growing ragged, and sweat trickled down his brow. The fear of losing her was overwhelming.
Frustration and fear gnawed at him as he pushed through the underbrush.
Just when he was about to lose hope, suddenly he heard a faint, terrified whimper piercing the silence. Abir's heart leaped as he caught sight of Mishti's figure through the trees. He dashed toward her, his face a mask of determined urgency.
Mishti trembled, could barely manage to make out abir's voice throug her fear. Her heart race, as she saw him emerging from, between the trees. His figure cutting through the gloom.
Abir's eyes locked onto mishti, And he sprinted towards her. His voice was stern, his anger palpable. " What are you doing here?" Abir's voice was cold, almost accusatory, as he reached her.
Mishti, her eyes wide with fear, stumbled over her words. "I...I was just... I didn't..."
Before she could finish, Abir's hand moved swiftly to his gun. A short rang out, a burst of sound that shattered the stillness. Mishti flinched, closing her eyes in sheer terror. When she dared to open them again, she was stunned to see a man, who had been lurking behind her, now lay motionless on the ground, the target of Abir's bullet. The sight left her shaken. He had saved her, but the horror of the moment was too much for her to bear.
"That man was one of Nishant's operatives. We need to get out of here, quickly," Abir said, urgency in his voice.
Mishti's legs felt like lead, body shook uncontrollably as she took tentative steps backward. Tears streamed down her face, and her lips trembled. As she tried to comprehend the gravity of Abir's action. Her fear was evident. Abir, seeing her distress, softened his tone but remained firm. He approached her slowly.
"Mishti, I know you're scared. But you need to trust me. I'm not here to harm you. We have to leave now, you had to come with me or Nishant's men will capture us," Abir pleaded, his tone desperate yet soothing.
Mishti sobs were muffled by the growing commotions. She nodded slowly, though her tears continued to flow. Just as she started to move, a troop of armed men emerged from the forest, their shouts and footsteps adding to the chaos. Abir's face hardened with resolve and determination. He immediately raised his gun again began firing at the advancing enemies.
Mishti covered her ears, her eyes shut tight, overwhelmed by the noise and the violence. The stress was too much for her to bear. Abir, noticing her distress, ran to her, pulling her into a protective embrace as he still fired at the attackers. Mishti's eyes closed, her knees buckled as she sank on the ground.
As she skirmish raged on, Mishti lost consciousness, her body slumping into abir's arms. Due to the sheer intensity of the situation.
Abir gently laid her down, his focus shifting back to the fight. After a fierce battle, the area was finally clear. Abir's gaze quickly returned back to Mishti to check on Mishti, but too much for his dismay she had vanished once again.
His heart raced with renewed panic. He searched frantically through the forest, calling her name, his frustration boiling over. He called her name out loud but there was no sign of her. He stormed back to his car, slamming the door behind him as he sped off.
Meanwhile, Mishti had somehow managed to find her way to the road. Exhausted and terrified, her heart was still racing. She rushed to her father Vishamber's house. Bursting through the door, her face streaked with tears, and collapsed into his arms.
Vishamber, alarmed, wrapped his arms around her. He stroked her hair "Mishti beta, what's wrong? Calm down. Don't be scared this much"
Through her sobs, Mishti managed to gasp out, "Papa... Nishant..."
As Vishamber tried to comfort her, Abir arrived, his face a mixture of relief and unease. He approached Mishti, his expression a blend of concern and something colder. His smile does not reach his eyes.
"Are you alright, Mishti?" Abir's voice was both tender and stern. His tone laced with an underlying coldness.
Mishti struggled to break free from his hold, As he hugged her, her voice trembling with emotion. "Let me go, Abir."
Rajeshri, Mishti's mother, stepped in, trying to soothe her daughter. "Don't be afraid, meraa bachaa, Abir is here. Hell take care of you. He told us that Nishant is searching for you."
Abir added with a touch of irony, "Yes, Mishti. It seems you're so terrified because of Nishant. , Aren't you?"
He moved closer, attempting to touch her face, but Mishti recoiled, her fear and anger evident.
"Where were you, Mishti? Look at the trouble your actions have caused," Abir said, his tone cold and accusatory.
Mishti did not answer. Instead, she rushed back to her father, her tears continuing to flow. "Papa, please... take me away from here..."
Abir's grip tightened as he pulled her close, he sized his hand behind her ignoring her protests. "Mishti, you need to go to your room and rest. You've been through a lot."
In his mind, Abir thought, "If Mishti tells the truth, her father won't let her come with me, and Nishant will easily take her. I need to prevent her from revealing anything, even if it means being harsh."
Vishamber, though concerned, nodded. "Mishti, go rest. We'll talk later."
Mishti protested, but Abir cut her off. "Enough, Mishti. Let's go." He led her to her room and locked the door behind them.
Mishti backed away, retreated to the corner. Her mind replaying the violence she had witnessed. Abir approached her, his voice firm. "Mishti, calm down. There's no need for more drama. Everything is already in front of your eyes."
As he reached out to hold her hand, she pulled away, her eyes filled with both fear and defiance. "Stay away from me. Don't come near me. I'll tell Papa everything... I don't want to be with you."
Abir's expression grew colder. He pulled her towards him with a grip of steel. "You won't tell anyone anything," he said firmly yet cold.
Just then, Abir's phone rang. It was Nishant calling. Mishti's fear escalated as Abir answered the call.
"Have you found her?" Nishant demanded.
"No, I haven't found her yet. I will bring her to you when I do," Abir replied, his voice devoid of warmth. He ended the call and turned back to Mishti, his anger barely contained.
Abir slammed his fist against the wall, causing Mishti to flinch. "You've ruined everything. Let me handle the things by my own, let Abir handle the things by his own. Don't force me to become Aayan It's better for you if you don't make me resort to becoming like Ayaan."
Mishti's voice was barely audible. "There's nothing left to become. I've seen both Abir and Ayaan."
Abir's eyes narrowed, his expression hardened "So, you won't come with me?"
"Never," Mishti replied, her voice filled with determination.
Abir took a deep breath, then drew his gun from his pocket and pointed it at her head. Mishti's eyes widened in terror as she stood frozen.
Abir's voice was chillingly calm. "If you say another word or refuse to come with me, I will end you."
Tears streamed down Mishti's face. "Go ahead, finish it. The drama is already over."
Abir's voice softened slightly, but his tone remained cold. "Listen to me first. I won't just end you. I'll deal with your father and mother, and then we'll see who will save you from Nishant."
Mishti was stunned, her tears falling freely as she absorbed Abir's menacing words.
Abir gently wiped her tears away, his touch surprisingly tender. "Let's go."

Abir get up, as they proceeded t lo leave, he spoke to Vishamber. "Papa, I'm taking Mishti with me. Otherwise, Nishant will take her."
Vishamber nodded sadly. Mishti hugged her father tightly, tears mingling with his comforting embrace. Despite his harsh demeanor, Abir felt a pang of pity for her.
They got into the car and drove away. Mishti looked around, confused and anxious. "Where are we going? This isn't the way home."
Abir responded, "This is where you need to be."
Mishti's heart raced with fear, convinced that Abir was taking her to Nishant. She tried to jump from the car, but Abir gripped her arm tightly, preventing her escape.
