Hurt them unintentionally

Daehyun, aka Mister Kim, was intently gazing at Taehyung. He was glaring at the poor young man, who was busy chewing his nails while glancing around the room as if he had visited his own house for the first time.

He was expecting his father to break the silence and ask questions, but he wasn't ready to answer. He just wanted to run away from there and never return, at least until his father's curiosity died.

"How does she know Jeon Jungkook?" Daehyun inquired in his deep-stern voice, sending shivers down Taehyung's spine. He knew this authoritative tone well. He might not have heard this tone that often, but he was aware of how powerful it was.

Taehyung couldn't help but glance at his father, who had a furious gaze fixed on him. His eyes were similar to that of Taehyung, except for one small difference. Daehyun's eyes were a bit puffy and they had wrinkles around the corner, given the fact that he wasn't young anymore.

"Are you answering?" He inquired again when he didn't receive an answer.

Now, what should Taehyung respond to him? He couldn't just confess what job Ara was doing. His father wouldn't be pleased at all, to hear about her profession. Though her profession might not be respected, she wasn't doing anything wrong.

The rental agency that Ara worked for, was safe and legal. They had rules and provided a good amount of money when a girl was rented. The agency had a mobile application, through which they could get rented. They kept a check on everything and the agency always prioritized their workers and not the customers. It might sound odd, but they were treated as nicely and respectfully as people from any other profession were treated.

"I... I think they -"

"They what? Don't tell me she is hiding all this from you! Are you aware of which guys she is seeing behind your back?" Daehyun inquired with a smirk. His tone held sarcasm which Taehyung hated.

Daehyun made his way and sat on a single couch gracefully, right across from where Taehyung sat. His back was still straight whenever he sat, which showed how professional he must have been while he was working as a CEO. Few habits don't die it seems.

Daehyun's gaze was intimidating and it only made Taehyung gulp. He had to think of an answer because his father wouldn't wait for him for a long time. Hence, he decided to change the topic.

"Jungkook is my friend and of course, she informed me before meeting him," Taehyung smirked when he noticed Daehyun's mouth wide open. It appeared like he wasn't expecting a confident reply from his son.

"Didn't I ask you to accept her? I don't care if you don't like her, but I love her and she is precious to me. If you would have accepted her, she wouldn't have remembered being an orphan. I gave her enough love all these years to not remind her of that. However, your rude behavior toward her only made things messed up, yet again. Don't you even have humanity? And since you don't care about my feelings, allow me to act like my dear father. Never expect me to take over your position. We have a deserving one to take over, so let me do what my heart wants to do for once."

Daehyun looked down, feeling guilty. He might not have ill-treated Ara, but his behavior wasn't impressive either. Of course, he lacked humanity, but the most important thing he lacked was a good heart. He always acted like a stone-hearted person in the case of Ara, and that only made Taehyung hate him more.

When he couldn't respond, Taehyung rose to his feet and marched out of the house without sparing another glance at Daehyun.

Once he stood outside, he took deep breaths to contain his anger. However, when he remembered Ara sitting in a park with Jungkook, his rage increased.

He quickly called her and inquired in a stern tone where she was. Once he received an answer that she was on her way back home, he got into his car and drove off.

Ara continued to glance at her phone screen even after the call ended. She was puzzled as to what must have happened with Taehyung to speak in that tone. He was never rude to Ara, not that she remembered.

Jungkook glanced at Ara's confused expression as she glanced at her phone. "Who was it? Is everything okay?" His tone got a bit softer, unlike his voice which was louder. The windows were open and the music was playing at a low volume, which made his voice appear like he yelled at her. However, the concern in his voice was evident which made Ara sigh.

Ara quickly turned off the music and closed the window on her side, and Jungkook mirrored her actions. He was confused because this was what Ara wanted and even if Jungkook never did this before, he would agree that he enjoyed it.

"What would you do if you hurt someone you love, maybe unintentionally?" Ara inquired politely, biting her lower lip.

Jungkook thought for a while as he poured his attention on the road. "I never hurt someone. Not that I'm aware of. I just have Jimin, who is my friend and family. And I only have him to love me. I lost my parents when I was sixteen. So I don't have anyone to hurt." He chuckled heartily but his story only made Ara feel sad for him.

Behind the cold face of Jungkook, there was a lost child who grew up without the love and affection of a family that everyone wishes for. Ara could understand him so well because her fate was somewhat similar to Jungkook's.

Just like Jungkook had Jimin, Ara had Taehyung. Otherwise, the two of them grew up alone, without the love of their respective families.

Ara surely felt bad for Jungkook. She might have taken him as a rude person the very first time she met him, but now she couldn't hate him. He had no one to teach him how to respect elders or talk politely. Ara didn't have anyone either, but somehow, girls take up those values since the time they are born.

Jungkook noticed Ara lost in her thoughts for a long time. He decided to break the silence. "If you don't mind me asking, who did you hurt?"

Ara glanced at Jungkook, who was chewing his bottom lip while pouring his attention on the road as he waited for her to respond. "Someone special to me." She responded with a sigh.

Jungkook nodded as he decided not to intrude into her private life anymore. After all, things would get awkward between them which he didn't want anymore.

The drive after that was quite peaceful yet comfortable. Jungkook would occasionally tap his fingers on the steering wheel and Ara would smile at his habit.

Once they reached, the two of them sat like mannequins, glancing to the front.

"Thank you!" Ara exclaimed softly, not gazing at Jungkook. She was about to open the door till Jungkook's words stopped her.

"Umm... Friends?" When Ara looked toward Jungkook, his hand was already stretched out. He was looking at her with hopeful eyes, as he blinked his eyes innocently.

Ara bit her lower lip, controlling herself from letting out a chuckle at his cuteness. She pulled out her hand, shaking hands and then mumbling, "Friends!" with a cute little nod.

The two of them chuckled, not noticing how they were still holding hands tightly as if they weren't intending to pull away.

They looked deeply into each other's eyes as their lips curved upwards into smiles. However, within a minute, there was a knock on the window of Ara's side. When the two of them averted their gazes, they found a furious Taehyung standing outside.

Ara quickly pulled out her hand from Jungkook's grip and stepped out of the car without sparing another glance at him. She hugged Taehyung and dragged him inside, without bidding a proper goodbye to Jungkook, who was left hurt by her unintentionally.
