Chapter 28
{Ok so, you guys want more. Wow I didn't realize this story was so popular. Well I will give you more. After this chapter will be a few one shots kinda skipping a head in time. Stick around!}
Gajeel wasn't sure where he was, or how he was even alive. He just knew he felt heavy, like his limbs were made of lead. It took more effort than it should have for him to open his eyes, and when he did he was met with a dark ceiling. For once it wasn't a hospital, and when he finally focused, he couldn't tell it was a hotel room. He tried to turn his head, but his neck felt stiff and he grunted slightly in pain. Almost immediately, a head of blue locks was in front of him, hazel eyes filled with worry. "Don't move around too much," Levy said quietly, reaching up and removing a dry cloth from his forehead. It took a moment for Gajeel to find his voice, but once he had it was dry and rough. "What happened?"
Levy smiled softly, "Avery saved your life, that healing potion worked wonders," she said fondly. At that, Gajeel tried to sit up, "Where is she?" Levy gently eased him back down with her hand on his chest. "Relax. She's a little roughed up but shes fine, she and Rouge are asleep on the other bed. You weren't well enough to travel, so we got an inn in town." She used a small bit of magic to re wet the cloth in her hands as she talked, before returning it to his forehead. "Most of the damage was taken care of by the potion, but the poison is still trying to leave your system. Your fever is still pretty high," she mumbled, using a spare cloth to wipe sweat away from his face and neck. Gajeel felt her hand trembling slightly against him, and he reached up and gripped it gently.
Levy took a deep breath as she held his hand, swallowing past the lump in her throat. "I... I was scared..." her voice was barely a whisper as she clutched at his hand. Gajeel sat up, ignoring her protests with a grunt, before pulling her into his arms and holding her. "Hey, I'm alive. And I don't plan on that changing any time soon," he said quietly. Levy nodded slightly as she sniffed, blinking back tears as she clung to him.
A small noise drew their attention to the opposite bed, where Avery sat up and rubbed her eyes. She looked over at them, blinking slowly before her eyes widened. She tried to untangle herself from the blankets and jump out of bed, but only managed to tumble to the floor with a surprised squeak. Gajeel and Levy bit back laughter as Avery finally got herself untangled before hurrying to the bedside. Her eyes were bright with unshed tears as she looked at her father, making sure he was actually there and that she wasn't dreaming. Gajeel gave her a soft smile, unwinding his arms from Levy before holding them out to her. Avery sniffed before she threw herself at Gajeel, her arms latching around his neck as she tried to hold back her sobs.
"I was so scared..." she cried into his neck. Gajeel gently rubbed her back as he held her, resting his chin on her head. "Thank you Avery," he said quietly once she had calmed down some. "If it wasn't for you, I'd be a gonner." She pulled back slightly to look up at him. Gajeel wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled, "So thank you." Avery smiled and nodded, wiping her eyes with a small hiccup. "Who else is gonna save your iron butt?" "Oi!" Levy laughed at this, while Avery grinned at her father who was scowling. His scowl melted into a smile though, as he pulled his daughter close once more and holding on to her. He would never let her slip through his fingers again.

That morning the four of them stood at the train station, Natsu and Juvia having returned to the guild the day before to inform the master what happened. Gajeel was still under the weather, but he wanted to return home and finally put Oak Town behind him. "Your sure you don't want to come and visit some more?" Avery asked Rogue as he prepared to board his own train, Frosch asleep on his shoulder. Rogue pat her head, "I need to get back to my own guild, but this isn't good bye." He told her with a smile.
Gajeel nodded at that, patting Rouges shoulder. "Stop by any time, Fairy Tail is always open," Rouge nodded just as the train whistle blew. "Well this is me. I'll see you guys later," he gave Avery a quick hug before retreating to his train. They headed for their own train once he was gone and were soon on their way home. Gajeel slept through the ride, still feeling a little weak and sore from their ordeal.
Once back in Magnolia, Avery woke her father before hurrying off the train, a ball of energy. Gajeel chuckled as he watched her, zipping this way and that as they walked. Levy was close beside him, their hands intertwined as the guild came into sight. When Avery reached the doors and threw them open, she was immediately ambushed.
Asuka had seen her first, and immediately tackled the teen, sending the pair tumbling. This caught many mages attentions and they were soon upon her, checking over her and welcoming her back. Then there was the master, who was smiling softly at her. "I'm sorry I couldn't keep you safe Avery," he started, but the girl shook her head. "I'm a Fairy Tail mage, I can handle anything!" This got a chorus of cheers, over which Cana drunkenly shouted. "Let's party!!"
{Sorry this chapter sucked. I promise I will make it up with a few one shots.}
