"Annika?" Shivaay called out.
She was facing the other side of the bed, not responding to him. He knew she wasn't asleep. His head was going to explode any time soon, he can guarantee you that. He had played back the whole day a thousand times to see what he had done wrong. "Is it because I called you delusional?" He asked uncertainly.
Annika got up and looked at him in disbelief. "Actually, I had forgotten about it. But thank you for reminding me! I am mad at you for two reasons," She laid back again. She kept shooting daggers at him. "I really can't believe you would do that Shivaay!" She said, with her voice filled with hurt.
"Annika, help me out here please? I understand you have a pretty valid reason, but I deserve to know what I messed up too right? And whatever it is, let's not go to bed with unsolved issues!" He pleaded. She sat up again and faced him. He took her hands in his and looked at her intently and with curiosity to know what was actually the reason behind his wife's epic anger.
"I wouldn't say I'm angry. I'm disappointed. Actually, a little angry too..." She started.
"Will you come to a conclusion now?" He interrupted. She gritted her teeth while he looked at her. "I guess I have three reasons now!" She turned back to her side of the bed.
"Okay okay, I'm sorry." He raised his hands in defeat.
"Shivaay... if you had known about Omkara's feelings before, why didn't you tell me?" She asked softly. Shivaay was stumped, not knowing what to say. His reaction told her everything she didn't want to hear. She gave him a small smile. "I get it. But just so you know Shivaay, I wouldn't have done anything that would have hurt him. He means a big deal to me too." She tried to move when Shivaay held her,
"Annika... It's not what you think. Trust me. I was meaning to tell you, I really was. But I realized, if Gauri didn't reciprocate his feelings, it would have been a huge disappointment to all. Honey, I know you wouldn't hurt a single soul," He sighed a little. He did not foresee that coming. He was a little stupefied on how one situation could hold so many perceptions within. If only he had known more...
"Shivaay, remember that day at my office you told me that we should talk everything out? That whatever we do, we should be together in it? Don't you realize that I would want to be there for you just how you want to be for me?" She asked. Shivaay noticed how her voice was awfully silent. He felt that these weren't things she garnered in one day. She had been feeling that way for some time, he realized.
"Annika..." He sighed. "I know that love. But, I'm just not used to it... But I promise, no more secrets, not anymore!" She chuckled a little. "Just don't tell me if you murder someone. I can't lie in a murder investigation!" She winked at him. He relaxed and grinned at her. "Honey, I'm sure you'd be the murderer!"
"Hey there sleepyhead!" Shivaay called out to the Annika who had just woken up. It had been a few weeks and Shivaay learnt one thing, his wife was not a morning person. Irritated by how she'd keep gazillion alarms to get up, Shivaay took it as a personal duty to wake her up. And honestly, he loved it. She would have these adorable expressions, and he'd instantly feel that waking a two year old up was a much easier task. She stirred in her sleep and Shivaay sat beside her and shook her up. She opened her eyes unwillingly and sat up. She rested her head on his shoulder making him chuckle. "Annika, you are already late! It's 8 now."
"Oh shit! Why didn't you wake me up before? I have a meeting Shivaay!" She squealed in horror and rushed to the bathroom. Shivaay took her bathrobe and towel in his arm until she ran back to fetch those. She grinned sheepishly and gave him a quick peck.
Shivaay got down the stairs and greeted everyone. He sat down for breakfast when he heard her yell. "SHIVAAY!" He looked up startled and she stood crossed arms.
"What on earth did you do to my shampoo? I refilled them last week!" Her voice was filled with irritation. Everyone around snickered. They were all quick to realize one thing in the course of the month. That Shivaay and Annika weren't just the romantic couple, but were quite comic too. So the family would pretend to be oblivious, while they secretly enjoyed all the banter.
"It smelled good..."
"So you decided to give Oberoi Empire a shower?" She rolled her eyes and marched back up. Shivaay, deep down, knew that she was quite justified in her place. But still, he never appreciated being yelled at. So, he rushed out of the house before she could scream at him again which he knew, she would.
Annika came down with empty bottles of shower gel and bath salts, only to see Shivaay gone. He knew how to get on her nerve every time without even trying. She tried not to get worked up upon seeing the toilet seat up, but she chose to let that go. But her husband clearly had other ideas.
"Annika? You can use mine by the way!" Omkara offered, pitying her plight. Growing up with the likes of Shivaay and Rudra, he knew her struggle quite too well. She smiled back at him gratefully. It had been quite a while since they had had a good chat, he realized. So he waited until she came down for breakfast, pretty much around the time no one was around.
"So Om, how is it going with Gauri?" Annika asked as she buttered her bread.
"Incredible. I've never been better before. Why didn't you introduce me to her before?" Omkara asked as he sipped into his juice. Annika frowned at that, that wasn't completely true. But she chose not to tell anything. They spoke about other things, until,
"Om, I have to ask. How is it going with Viru papa? I know he is being hard on you..."
"C'mon Annika, he isn't wrong in his place at all. After Abhishek, he'd have to ensure she is in best hands right? Plus, I haven't been noble in the past!" He gave her a reassuring smile.
"But Om, you deserve a proper chance, don't you? He was able to give..."
"Annika," Omkara interrupted. "I have complete faith in Gauri and my relationship. And what he is asking isn't much right? I'm sure Gauri will be okay with this when I tell her!"
Annika just sighed. Except for Om, Tej and Virendar, only Annika and Shivaay know what Virendar had asked. After their conversation the other night, Annika wasn't willing to hide anything from him. Hence, when Om told her what he did, she had requested him to share the same with Shivaay. Though she did not agree with her Uncle, deep down she knew love would triumph everything.
After a hectic day at work, Annika wanted one thing: Her husband's arms. She hummed a tune as she entered inside Oberoi mansion. She was greeted from the laughter from familiar voices. As she approached down the hall, she saw Gauri and Bhavya sitting with the rest of the family. Only Shivaay was missing.
"Hello people who don't live here! Gauri, I'm serious. Why don't you move in here? You are here every evening anyway. I'm sure Om would love that," Annika winked at them and dodged the cushion that came flying her way. She hugged them and settled down. She pitied Om and Gauri quite a bit. Minus the occasional dinners, they only met at the Oberoi mansion. Their relationship was in a very nascent stage; hence Annika felt they needed some private time. As she was lost in her thoughts, her man entered. He nonchalantly greeted everyone and went to their room, eyes glued to their phone. Annika followed him up. He was standing near the foot of the bed. She took his phone from his hand and threw it on the bed. She wrapped her hands around his neck. He looked teasingly at her, while she frowned. "You know what to do!" She sounded too sultry to her own ears.
"Actually, I don't!" Shivaay hid his grin. Annika frowned and claimed his lips. His hands immediately went around her waist. Annika slowly took steps back until they hit the bed. Shivaay took her up and placed her on the bed, not once letting go of her mouth. She pushed him back and climbed on to his lap. Gosh, she had missed him the whole day. While at it, something struck her and she immediately pulled back.
"I know what to do!"
