Chapter 15
The morning came too fast as the sun hit my face causing me to wake up. As I got up I remembered the events of yesterday which angered me. I guess Amanda coming over last night was definitely the sign my mother was sending me. I hop out of bed and get ready for the day. As I'm fixing my hair there is a knock on my door. Walking over to the the door I open it to find April with a breakfast tray.
"Good morning Christina, I thought you could use a little breakfast in bed but I see you're already up."
"No its okay April thank you." I take the tray from her and motion for her to come inside. April closes the door behind her and takes a seat on my couch.
"So how are you feeling?"
"What do you mean April?"
"I mean you stormed off last night when you saw you know, what Jason and Amanda were doing."
I put my hairbrush down and walk over to sit on my bed. "April I assure you it's nothing I remembered something I had to do so I rushed upstairs."
"Are you sure it has nothing to do with Jason?"
"What April no, don't be ridiculous. Now let's head downstairs and eat in the kitchen." She eyed me warily before letting out a sigh.
She got up and followed me downstairs only to be met by Amanda who was wearing one of Jason's shirts. April gasped at the sight of her, which caused her to turn around in our direction.
"Good morning ladies." She looked every bit of beautiful even with messy bed hair. I can see why Jason likes being with her.
"Good morning," April and I both say making our way over to the breakfast nook. I placed the tray of food on the counter, and watched as Amanda took a seat next to us.
"Your name is Amanda right?" I thought it was only right to make small talk with someone even if you dislike them.
"Yes, although I don't know what your name is."
"Christina, pleasure to formally meet you."
"Oh yeah weren't you the maid I saw when I came to the design studio."
"Yeah that was me."
"Oh then would you be a doll and get me something to eat?"
April froze next to me just waiting for my reaction. "I'm sorry Amanda, but I no longer am a maid here."
She narrowed her eyes a me looking me up and down as a frown formed on her face.
"Then what are you exactly doing in this house?"
"That's really none of your business."
"Don't tell me your only here for Jason? Honey you should give up now. What makes you think you could ever have a chance with him?" She laughed silently to herself which only pissed me off further.
I cocked my head to the side, and cleared my throat. "Amanda I'm afraid your misinterpreting my relationship with Jason."
"Oh am I. I've known Jason for quite a while, and I know that there are always girls who like being around him for his money." April stands up and goes to stand in between Amanda and I.
"Well you don't have to worry about Christina, she's not like that," April said trying to ease the situation.
I softly push April to the side and look Amanda straight in the eyes. "Are you implying that I'm a whore?"
"I didn't say it honey you did."
Right as I'm about to lunge at Amanda Jason walks into the room, "good morning ladies."
Jason is wearing his pajama bottoms, and a black tank top. He stops at the fridge before turning to us.
"Am I interrupting something?"
Amanda gets up from her seat and walks over to him, "No baby, I was just getting to know your friends in this house. They are both lovely girls." She proceeds to try and make out with Jason in front of me. I notice Jason trying to pull away when his eyes focus on me.
"Amanda sweetheart easy," he says finally breaking the kiss.
"Sorry babe whenever I'm around you I just can't help myself." Amanda runs her hands up and down Jason's chest as he shift uncomfortable out of her grasp.
April and I roll our eyes and get up. "Well it was nice meeting you Amanda."
"Likewise."
April and I left the kitchen walking at a quick pace. She could see how angry I was so she stopped me.
I sighed and looked at her, "What April?"
"It's nothing, it's just I've never seen you so pissed off."
"You saw what she was insinuating back there didn't you?"
"Yes I did. I also saw you killing her if you had the chance."
I shrugged my shoulders at her comment and looked at the floor.
"Christina you need to tell me what's going on, otherwise I don't know how to help you."
I sighed in defeat and motioned her to follow me to my bedroom. Once we were inside I locked the door. She took a seat on my bed and I began to pace back and forth.
"So what's up?"
"April Jason and I have a little arrangement that no one is supposed to know about."
"Go on."
"Well you know how Mrs. Anderson has a rule about wearing her designs before they are released."
"Yes." I began fiddling with my thumbs and it clicked for April.
"No Christina you didn't!" She covered her mouth in shock as her eyes focused on mine.
"But I did. It was my first day on the job, and right after Amanda and Jason were done with the design studio I went to clean it. I saw the most beautiful golden gown I have ever seen so I tried it on. I knew Mrs. Anderson was out of the house, so I thought that I would be safe, however Jason came back in the room and caught me red handed with the dress. He told me earlier that I was too pretty to be a maid, and that I could be a model, so he took my slip up as the opportunity he had been waiting for."
"What did he make you do Christina?"
"He told me that I had to become his private maid."
April put her hand on her chest in shock. "No April it's not like that. You see Jason is working on a clothing line of his own, so he wanted me to be the face of it. So basically at night I would go and help him with his designs and be his muse. There isn't any other relationship we have going on at all. I didn't tell you at first because Jason wanted it to be a secret, even Mrs. Anderson doesn't know. I also knew that you liked him at the time, so I didn't want to hurt your feelings."
"Wow Christina that's a lot to take in."
"I know just promise me that you won't tell anyone. Keeping this a secret has been hard enough for me."
"Don't worry I won't tell anyone, but do you seriously want me to believe that working in such close quarters didn't cause you to develop feelings for Jason?" April raised an eyebrow at me and I knew I had to lie.
"No April it didn't."
She raises her hands in defeat and gets off my bed. "So what are you going to do now?"
"I figured I'd call Aiden and let him in on some good news."
April squealed with excitement. "Oh my god Christina have you decided to be his girlfriend and join his dad's agency."
"Actually yeah I did. I had prayed to my mother to give me a sign as to what I should do and she delivered."
"What sign did she give you?"
"It doesn't matter at this point; now go I don't want you in here when I give him the news."
"Before you kick me out, don't you think that it's better to meet up with Aiden rather than call him? I mean what you're about to say to him is pretty big."
"I guess you're right, now leave."
April smiled and closed my door. I picked my phone to find that I had a text message from Aiden.
"Hey I'm in Jersey for the day meeting up with some friends for a barbecue in your neighborhood would you be interested in coming."
"I was just about to text you; sure I'd love to come. Are any of your friends single?"
I giggle to myself waiting to see how he'll react to that question.
"Miss Munoz you better be joking."
"Not for me, I was thinking of bringing April along if that's alright with you?"
"Phew don't scare me like that and yes most of my friends are single, so feel free to bring her along."
"Thanks."
"No problem, I'll text you the address."
"Great see you there."
A minute later Aiden texted me the address, and I was a little surprised to see that the location was literally up the street. I leave my room, and head over to April's. April has a habit of leaving her door open, so I just walked in.
"Hey Christina, so where are you meeting him?"
"We are meeting him at a barbecue up the street later."
"We are?"
"Well he invited me, so I invited you because some of his friends are single."
"Christina..."
"I'm not saying you need help April, it's just that you only ever had eyes for Jason, now it's time to look elsewhere. Who knows you might just find Mr. Right today."
"You did not just say Mr. Right," April said while laughing at me.
"Hey I was being serious, so are you coming or not?"
"Yes I'll come."
"Great be ready in two hours."
I leave her room and head downstairs to find some clothes to wear. I see Amanda in the living room and roll my eyes. I pass by her and head to Mrs. Anderson's closet. As I'm picking out my clothes, Amanda decides to barge in and confront me.
"What do you think you're doing?"
"What does it look like?"
"So you steal from Jason's mother too. Can't say that I'm shocked, you two do come from different worlds."
I pause and drop my clothes before turning around o face her. "Amanda do you have some business with me, because it seems you only came here to start trouble."
"No not really. I just came to give you a warning."
"A warning?" I was beginning to think that this girl was out of her mind.
"Yes a warning, stay away from Jason. If you don't then I promise your life will get a whole lot harder."
After hearing what she said I couldn't help but laugh at her.
"What's so funny?"
"You need to chill out. There's nothing going on between us, and since your so nosy I'll let you know that I'm on my way to meet my boyfriend." Amanda stood shocked as I tilted my head to the side.
"Oh well good for you."
"Yes so please do me a favor and stay out of my way"
I give Amanda a fake smile before leaving the room and heading back upstairs to get ready. I chose to wear a crop top with some black skinny jeans, with some gladiator sandals. I wanted to look comfortable and not overdo it. I looked myself over once more in the mirror before going to Aprils room. I knocked on her door and she answered wearing a royal blue sundress.
"Wow April you look great, and I love that color with your skin."
"Thank you. Let me guess you need me to do your makeup?"
"Yes please."
I had let April know about my confrontation with Amanda and she was shocked.
"What is wrong with that girl?"
"I have no idea, all I know is that I couldn't help but laugh at her."
Once April had finished my makeup we were ready to go. "Meet me downstairs when you're all set," I said before leaving her room. I headed back downstairs, and thank god Amanda was nowhere to be seen. I walked into the kitchen to see Jason working on his laptop again. I walked over to the fridge and got a bottle of water.
"Hey."
"Hi Jason."
"You look nice, are you going somewhere?"
"Thanks and yeah I am. Aiden invited April and I to a barbecue with his friends."
"Look Christina I'm sorry about this morning. I couldn't help but notice that there was some tension when I entered the room."
"Jason everything is fine."
"Really, because I know Amanda was only wearing my shirt and it kind of looked like..."
"Like you guys hooked up. Its fine if you did anyway, why should I care? Although Jason I thought you could at least show me a little respect you know."
"Christina..."
I walked around the counter towards the exit before stopping and facing Jason. "I guess I should be thanking you actually, because you made me make the best decision in my life."
"Oh and what's that," he asks standing up from his seat.
"To be with Aiden." I turned around and walked out of the kitchen leaving Jason to process what I had just said. I see April waiting by the door with a smile.
"You okay?"
"Never been better, now let's go."
April and I decided to walk to the barbecue since it was so close to the Anderson residence, plus we could use a little exercise. We arrived at a house which rivaled Mrs. Anderson's. The front door was open, so April and I walked inside. We walked through the kitchen to the backyard, where everyone was sitting.
Aiden saw us and walked over to greet us. "Hey guys I'm glad you could make it." He gave both of us a hug, but I felt like he hugged me a little longer than April. I couldn't help the grin that formed on my face as he stared down at me with so much adoration.
"Thanks for the invite," April said taking a water from a cooler.
"No problem hey let me introduce you to my friends." We followed Aiden to where a crowd of his friends were, and one by one he introduced them to us.
"Christina and April I'd like you to meet: Jack Sanders, Kenny Reyes, Eric Delgato, and Justin Seeley."
"It's a pleasure to meet you all," April and I said in unison. That earned a chuckle from the boys. Jack and Justin were definitely April's type I could see either one of them being with her right off the bat.
"It so nice to finally meet the girl Aiden can't stop harping on about," Jack said shaking my hand. I glance over at Aiden and see him running his hands through his hair nervously.
"I hope everything he's told you has been all good."
"But of course and from the looks of it he was not lying." I blushed as Jack's eyed me up and down.
"Okay enough of that Jack," Aiden said slightly embarrassed. April and I laughed enjoying Aiden's discomfort.
Justin and Jack turned their attention to April. "What about your friend?"
"What about me," April said putting her hand on her hip.
"Are you taken sweetheart," Justin said. My mouth dropped, and April had the exact same expression I had. Justin had a British accent. I'm sorry but I have to say that I'm a sucker for accents and that there was no contest Justin was the one.
"No I'm not," April said with the biggest smile on her face. Justin smiled and led April away from the rest of us. I had gotten some food and joined Aiden with the rest of his friends.
"So Christina what exactly do you do," Kenny said taking a sip of his beer.
"Well right now I've been presented with various opportunities, and I'm still weighing my options."
"What about you guys what line of work are you guys involved in."
"They are all models signed to my father's company," Aiden said.
"Oh wow." I looked over at Justin and April and smiled.
"Even Justin?"
"Yup his pretty popular with the female models in the company as well."
As the afternoon went on, I got to see a different side of Aiden. He was so carefree, and almost looked childlike. I mean don't get me wrong I love him in a suit and the authority he commands when he is in a room, but this was a nice change. I was really glad that I had decided to come. As the others were playing a game, I tapped Aiden on the shoulder.
"Hey can I talk to you?"
"Sure." He grabbed my hand and led me back inside the kitchen closing the door behind us.
"What's up?"
"Well I didn't only come here to hang out with you for the day."
"Oh," he said with an amused expression.
"Yeah." I sighed and took a deep breath, "Aiden I've given your proposal a lot of thought and I happy to say that I will join your father's agency along with April."
Aiden gave me a big hug. "Christina that's fantastic, my father will be very pleased to hear this news."
"That's not all I wanted to tell you." I walked up to Aiden and closed the gap between us. Our eyes were locked on each other, and I slowly drifted my gaze down to his lips. I stood on my toes to reach him, as I pressed my lips against his. I broke the kiss and Aiden looked at me, waiting to hear what I was to say next.
"I also came here to tell you that I want to be your girlfriend." The biggest smile formed on Aiden's face as he lifted me up on a counter and kissed me passionately. His kiss gave me butterflies as I felt my toes curl from the pleasure. Our kiss went on for a good five minutes, before we were rudely interrupted by Jack and Kenny whistling through the sliding door.
"Alright you two break it up. I can't have you messing around in my kitchen now can I," Jack said with an amused expression.
"Shut up," Aiden said. He pulled me off the counter and held my hand as we walked outside to join the others.
When I came outside, I could see the gleam in April's eye. She knew what I had done, so I didn't have to tell her.
When it was time to leave, I saw April exchanging numbers with Justin before he gave her a hug. Aiden had offered to drive us back home since we walked and he had his car.
When we arrived back home, April thanked Aiden for the lovely day and went inside to give us some privacy.
"Thank you for today," I said nervously.
"I should be the one thanking you."
"I'll call you later tonight to schedule when you two should come back to see my father."
"Okay."
"Goodnight Christina."
"Goodnight."
Aiden gave me one last kiss before leaving and walking back over to his car. I walked inside and closed the door. April came from the kitchen jumping up and down like a fool.
"Ah Christina its official, you and Aiden are finally a couple. I'm so happy for you."
"Thanks."
While April was jumping up and down and screaming with excitement, we failed to notice Jason standing in the game room doorway.
"So you and Aiden are a couple now huh."
