Julie's pov:
After gym class was finally over, I once again walked into Mrs. Delta's reading class. I was earlier than usual so I just waited for Gianna.
This gave me time to actually observe who was in my class. I never really paid attention before.
After everyone was here, I found out that all the desks were taken meaning there were 22 students in the classroom. 4 juniors, counting me and Gianna, a couple football players and cheerleaders, and the rest of the kids I couldn't figure out.
Well, I noticed the popular wannabes, they're the ones who were sitting in the cheerleaders seats yesterday and got moved.
Mrs. Delta finally walks in and starts class. She tells everyone to listen up because she has something important to say. And with the look on her face, I'm probably gonna want to pay attention to this.
"This year, the principal said that each student is to write an essay, due in two weeks, on something to improve the school. Not only will this be recommended into the school, but this will also be very important on your college application, this essay is 70% of your final grade." All eyes in the classroom go wide.
I think anyone can figure out that if you fail this assignment you are basically done for. She goes on explaining all the details until class is over.
So what she is basically telling us is if you write an essay about wearing pink uniforms everyday and it gets approved, you have to wear it for the rest of the year.
Yeah, I would rather wear a trash can.
When we are excused to leave, everyone is in a rush to get home, mainly because it's Friday.
As I got on the bus, I realize I am once again early somehow.
No really, I have no idea.
I am literally late everywhere I go.
I take one of the seats in the middle, as the rest of the kids get on to the bus, I realize it is more packed then usual.
By the last kid, all the seats were taken, two in each seat, well except for me and two other kids.
Yep, still a total loner.
I am grabbing my earplugs out of my backpack when I hear steps climbing up onto the bus.
I look up to see Ashton climbing onto the bus.
Now, I wasn't worried about him sitting with me because there were two other kids siting alone that he sometimes talks to on the bus.
Not that I'm against him sitting next to me... but, look. I'm awkward and when a person you don't really talk to at all sits next to you, it makes your awkward self more awkward.
So I wasn't expecting him to look at me making direct eye contact, smirk, and place his bottom right next to mine.
A lot of the kids looked up because I guess he always sits in the back...
And probably next to someone who has friends.
Eventually the bus pulls out and they look away. I try not to look at him and I stare out the window.
Why? Well because I saw him half naked!!
What am I suppose to say?
'Hey, nice body?'
I would sound like a stalker even though I might be.
Probably am.
I'm not sure.
"Hey." He says. Why is he talking to me? He could be a murderer for all I know.
It's okay Julie if he stabs you you'll at least have eye witnesses.
"Uh hi?" It came out more like a question though. I look at him in the face.
Big mistake, he's so close I could feel him slightly breathing on my forehead. His very good, smelling minty breathing, stop!
"You're coming over my house." He says, quite casually I may add.
Wait, processing....
"What!!!" I say pretty loudly. He then registered what he just said and quickly shakes his head.
"Don't get too dirty minded princess, my mom told me that your parents won't be home until tomorrow for some work thing." He says and smirks.
Why didn't they tell me?
"Are your parents home?" Is my first response.
"Why, don't want to be home alone with me?" He asks, pretending to be offended.
"No, not really." I try to hide my smile.
"Why not?"
Hahaha.
Funny joke.
"Because I don't even know you?"
It's called stranger danger buddy.
"We are neighbors, I'm pretty sure that forms some type of trust."
Ehhhhhh.....
"Sure...."
He laughs at my response even though I wasn't trying to be funny.
But what can I say?
I'm basically a comedian.
The conversation seems to have died since he doesn't respond back, so I just shake my head and put in my earplugs.
When the bus arrives at our stop, we get off and I walk up to my front door.
"What are you doing?" He asks, standing on his porch while I'm standing on mine.
They are seriously too close for my liking.
"Uh, getting my stuff?" I say in a duh tone, but when I tried to open the door, I found it to be locked.
"What the-"
"Oh yeah, your mom already dropped off your stuff." He lets out a cheeky grin and walks into his house.
"Gee thanks." I mumble under my breath.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself, I walk to his front door and go inside to find my brother watching some show on their tv.
I still find it so unfair that he gets home before me.
That's how much longer my bus ride is than his.
"Hi Julie" Ashton's mom, Alissa, says from the kitchen.
Oh THANK GOD.
"Hey Alissa" I respond, walking into the kitchen.
I sit down at the counter while she is cooking what I think is lasagna.
"Sorry this is last minute Julie." She says looking up at me.
"It's fine, I'm just wondering why my parents didn't tell me."
Seriously though, is it that hard to send a simple heads up?
Even if it's just a text?
I get that my parents are just settling down into their new jobs, but cmon.
They are going to get a VERY nice text from me tonight.
And I will ONLY be accepting forgiveness if brownies are involved.
If not, I will be very upset.
"I have no idea." She responds to my words while putting the lasagna in the oven.
I freakin love lasagna.
After a couple minutes of talking with Alissa, I pull out my homework and start doing it on the counter.
Yes, I know it's Friday, but what else am I suppose to do?
I just hate being at others peoples houses because I don't know what I can or I can't do.
It's nerve wracking.
Again, wish I got a heads up, I definitely would have brought one of my books.
"So how did you like your first week of school?" Alissa asks, looking in the fridge.
"It was pretty good, but very long." It was a very long first week...
And it was only for three days.
"Awe crap" Alissa says suddenly, moving items around in the refrigerator. I look up from my homework to see what's wrong.
"I just realized we ran out of milk, I'm going to have to head to the store." She says, placing her hand on her head in what seems to be annoyance.
I get that.
But wait...
DON'T leave me here!!!
Without a second thought, she grabs her car keys and leaves.
Just like that.
The only thing you could now hear was the tv. I don't even want to know what Ashton is doing up stairs.
~~~~~~~
It has been about fifteen minutes since Alissa has left and I start to worry.
All she needed was milk right?
Oh gosh, she is probably like my mother.
Makes one trip to the store for one little thing, and ends up almost buying a whole section of the store.
Suddenly, I hear loud steps coming down the stairs.
I look up from my history homework to see Ashton come into the kitchen and place his bottom right in the chair next to me.
I look at him, "Yes?"
"I am here to give you company" He says and takes the pencil from my hands and sets it on the counter.
"Why?"
Not that I don't want the company...
But why?
"I'm not just going to leave a girl alone in the kitchen while she does her homework, that's just rude." He grins while winking at me.
He seems to like winking at people...
Which is awfully disturbing.
After staring at him for a couple of seconds to try and figure him out, I give up and pick up my pencil to try and finish my homework.
He looks over my shoulder and at the paper.
"Huh, I had that same worksheet last year." He says and grabs an apple from a little basket before biting into it making that really loud crunching noise.
I give him a confused look, "What do you mean you had this worksheet last year?"
"What do you mean by asking me that I had that worksheet last year?"
"Are you by chance in the honors classes?"
To be completely honest, I wasn't expecting that.
It's just, he doesn't seem like someone who would be in those types of classes.
Going off my experience at least, the boys are either glasses and head stuck in a book, teachers pet, or have some type of Marvel, Harry Potter, or Minecraft obsession.
WHICH IS NOT BAD!!!
Minecraft makes up 90% of my childhood so honestly can not judge.
"Ouch." He say and puts his hand over his chest.
Even though I know he is probably just being dramatic, A little part of me does feel a little bad.
Maybe that did come out a little judgmental.
"I don't look smart to you?"
Don't roll your eyes.
Don't roll your eyes.
"That's not what I meant."
That's definitely what I meant...
In the nicest way possible.
I mean cmon...
I don't even know how it's possible to be in the honors classes while maintaining popularity, a social life, and good looks.
It was impossible for me.
"It's okay, I won't take it to heart." He says, before standing up from his chair.
"Call me if you need me, I'll be up in my room... well unless you want to come with m-..."
"Cool, see you later!" For three reasons, I interrupt him before he could finish.
Reason one, I know my cheeks are turning bright red.
Reason two, he makes me nervous.
And reason three, I knew a little part of me wanted to accept that offer.
What?
I can't deny that he's attractive.
