Chapter thirty three
A woman with a long platinum blonde sleek ponytail landed in front of an ancient mansion. She was dressed in a black leather trousers and black leather jacket. The big black doors opened upon her arrival and the guards bowed to her as she walked past. Her knee-level black heeled boots clanked on the marble floors as she walked, her ponytail bouncing to and fro with each step.
She came upon a council room with a big black throne and a woman was sitting on it, dressed in black robes and her long black hair cascaded down her shoulders. The woman’s cat like eyes shone upon seeing the new arrival and she licked her lips in anticipation to the juicy news she brought to her. “My Queen,” the platinum blonde haired woman bowed and when she looked up, her eyes flashed green with diluted pupils and the woman on the throne sat up.
“I know that gaze, tell me, what is going on in the palace?” she asked.
“The day we have been waiting for has finally arrived, My queen. There was a fight in the demon palace last night and as I am talking to you, the demon throne is left unattended.”
“Finally,” the woman shouted and stood up, her black hair flew like water around her. “At long last, it is finally ours. The cat demons are finally going to claim what really belonged to us.”
“Yes my queen, that is why I bring this news to you. However…”
“What, what is it?” the queen demanded.
“I saw Gaziah leaving the palace just as I did. And since I know better, I am sure he is relating the news to the Python king.”
“Shit, those snake demons, always getting in my way. Well, there is no need to panic, the one that sits on the throne is the demon king or should I say, Queen and when I finally become that ruler of all demons, I can finally get my revenge on those damned howlers. Go on, Medlyn, gather my kittens, you are bringing me that demon throne. It’s ours and has always been ours.”
Medlyn bowed and stood erect, “of course my queen, the throne shall be yours tonight.”
“I know, as long as you are handling it, I have nothing to fear,” the queen smiled and then sat back on her throne majestically, just like a cat.
Medlyn bowed once more before turning and leaving the throne. The queen smirked to herself as she thought of when the red throne would finally be brought to her palace and she would be known as the demon king, taking the title of royal blood demons and giving it to her offspring.

“She hasn’t waken up yet?” Sean asked, peeping into the room that Irene stepped out from before the door was closed.
Irene sighed and shook her head. “If I can just get her to wake up for enough time to give birth it would make it easier to treat her. But now, there are some potions I cannot use on her because she is pregnant and the ones that are supposed to help the little prince to regain his powers won’t work if not directly taken by him. Honestly, I am at lost on what to do.”
“What about prince Edward, how is he?” Steven asked.
“He has not stopped staring at her since this morning and had kept feeding her his blood, at this rate, I am afraid he is going to be weak as well. His blood is the only thing still keeping her alive, otherwise I…”
“What should we do?” Rasmus inquired. “If things get out of hand, we are definitely not going to survive his wrath.”
“What about Catherine?” Sean suggested.
“Who?” Rasmus and Irene asked.
“The best werewolf healer. I am sure she can help, maybe we need to treat Aliyah’s wolf to speed up her healing. What do you think?” Sean asked, “I can rush home now and get her.”
“Before you get here, it might be already too late and I am not fully recovered to be using location spells, the one I used last night is still draining me,” Irene sighed, “if only I can just get a way to keep her awake enough to give birth, it would be more than enough.”
“Then what are …” Rasmus was asking when the door was thrown up and angry looking Edward stood there.
“Get in here, she is slipping away,” his voice was cold and icy as he ordered Irene.
“Edward, I don’t know what to do, I’m thinking of a new potion that I can…”
“If you are not going to be of service then there is no need keeping you,” his eyes burned blue. “Get in here and treat her or find me someone who can, do you understand me?”
“Yes,” Irene nodded immediately and rushed inside the room, being careful not to touch him. Edward’s icy glare landed on Rasmus and the rest but without a word, he shut the door. He had refused them from going inside the room as the only one allowed was Irene. Edward has never restricted them from being around when one of them was sick and neither has he ever spoken to Irene like that before. They have been comparing his attitude since the night before and the times they have got to known him and they all knew that he was different, he was indifferent to every one of them except Aliyah and it’s still a shock that it was like that. The strangeness of it all was getting to them but they refrained from thinking too much about it, at least, he was keeping them alive.
Irene felt Aliyah’s forehead and she was burning, her heartbeat had also slowed and she knew that Edward was right, she was slipping away and that means they have to go for her last resort. Desperate measures require desperate actions. “At this rate, we can’t keep waiting for her to wake up.”
“You speak like you already have a plan,” Edward said.
“Yes, we will have to take the baby out of her. We will perform an operation.”
“Are you equal to the task?” Edward asked.
“Yes, but I will need your help.”
“I’m not going anyway. What needs to be done?”
“First,” Irene walked over to the table where she had laid out vials of potions and picked up one bottle. “First, I will feed her a potion that would stop her heart for two minutes. That means we have two minutes to do everything and also clean her up before she revives, that would stop her from dying straight from pain. But if we don’t meet up with the time, I am afraid…”
“We will meet up with time,” Edward interrupted, vanishing from the room and returning with a pen knife. Irene was in shock with what happened. She had always known that the man moved so fast that one would mistake him for teleporting but the case was different now, she could clearly see that he teleported, it wasn’t the matter of being fast. She had been noticing a lot of things with him and the fact that his telekinesis has gotten stronger than before and also how he had not talked about being tasty after such an immerse fight last night, she had been leaning to the fact that the fight in the meadow more than threw months ago had killed the nightwalker in Edward and the man in front of her now was not just a part demon anymore but a full demon who was mastering his powers and being so good at it.
She shook her head and woke up from her thought, rushing to Aliyah and pouring the potion into her mouth, holding her for some seconds to make sure that she swallowed it. They both listened attentively as her heart started getting slower till it was beating once in ten seconds and then eventually, it stopped. “Our time starts now,” Irene announced and Edward immediately tore open Aliyah’s top and used the knife on her. But the knife wasn’t as sharp as he wanted and so he cast it aside and his demon claw elongated. With one slash, blood pooled on Aliyah’s stomach and so he stood aside and watched as Irene walked with such expertise that he was almost tempted to ask her if she had been doing this before.
After rummaging in Aliyah’s inside, Irene finally pulled out her hands and she was carrying a big baby covered in blood. She shoved the baby in Edward’s shocked and terrified hands and got back to work on Aliyah, getting out the placenta and every other unwanted residues before magically sewing her up. When she was done, she turned to Edward and asked, “do you think you can heal her? We have ten seconds before her heart revives.”
Edward didn’t answer and just balancing his son in one hand, he bit on his wrist and rubbed his blood on the cut on Aliyah’s stomach. They both watched with bathed breaths while Irene counted the seconds in her heart. Finally, just before she counted the last second, Aliyah’s tummy was as smooth as ever. She let out a sigh of relief and walked around to lean on her heart, waiting for the first beat. However, the seconds piled up and the beat never came. She looked up at Edward with tear filled eyes and his eyes burned blue as he said in a soft whisper that sent a shiver down her spine, “don’t you dare.”
