Chapter sixty five
Rasmus opened the door on sensing his master's arrival but when he saw the boy following behind him, his eyes widened in shock. "Another howler?" he asked and Edward chuckled, walking past him into the house.
Sean watched the man in front of him warily, he could tell that the man was way more than five hundred years old by the aura he could feel from him and he understood that a single blow from him might as well send him to an early grave. He gulped and held the man's gaze as he quickly followed Edward inside.
Rasmus sighed and closed the door; does it mean that their palace would be welcoming howlers from now on? He shuddered at the thought of having about twenty of them in the house, how stinky would the house be if it ever happened? He was still adapting to one and now there is another? He turned and watched the boy, Edward had gone up the stairs, leaving him alone with him and now he wondered what he was supposed to do with him. He heaved another sigh and stood beside him, he could tell that he was still a boy, at most twenty but if he should guess correctly, he should be at the same age as his Lady.
Sean felt uncomfortable being left alone with the man, he could feel him assessing him and he wondered if he would be dead before Edward get's back. However, it wasn't long when he heard, "Sean," and looked up to see the girl excitedly running down the stairs to meet him. A strong wave of nostalgia hit him as he ran and met her at the foot of the stairs, picking her up and twirling around in happiness of finally having her in his arms again.
A low guttural sound woke him up from his memory as he looked up at the man that was glaring at him now and he quickly put her back on her feet, clearing his throat as he took a step back. Aliyah chuckled and turned to smile at the obvious jealous man before she grabbed Sean's hand and led him to sit on the couch, totally ignoring the angry man. "What are you doing here?" she asked, half worriedly and half excitedly.
"I had to come look for you. Everyone has been so worried," Sean replied nervously, feeling the icy gaze on his back.
"Everyone?" Aliyah raised an eyebrow and Sean sighed.
"Your mother, she has not been herself since that night and your father, he arranges search party every morning and they don't come back till late at night. Aliyah," he grabbed her hand and heard a low growl, forcing him to let go of her again as he cleared his throat nervously.
"Will you stop that, please?" Aliyah said now to the man behind them and Edward avoided her gaze like he did nothing wrong. "If you can't stay and listen to us, feel free to do something else. Look at him, I have never seen Sean so flustered," she chuckled, "don't you know you are scary when you do that?"
Edward rolled his eyes but he knew she was right and the only way to stop interfering would be to leave. But how could he when he is here with her? What's to say that he won't try to run away with her - not like that would be possible since he would sense it immediately she leaves the house - if he leaves them alone? But at the end, he sighed and walked back up the stairs to their room where he forced himself to sit put and just wait.
Seeing his master gone, Rasmus bowed with a hidden smile, the girl now controls his prince, impressive. "Let me know whenever you need me, my Lady."
"Thank you, Rasmus," Aliyah smiled and the man nodded and flashing a warning look at Sean, he left the living room.
Now alone, Sean let go a loud sigh and glanced at Aliyah thankfully, "thank you."
Aliyah chuckled at that. "It's not every day you find yourself in a room with an over two thousand years old vampire with his seven hundred years old servant." She had been curious about Rasmus and Edward had told her about the man and his age when they were in their bedroom after she finished eating.
"Tell me about it," Sean said and she laughed. He watched her, yes she was happy back at home but now, she was radiating, her happiness can be easily felt by the people around her. A soft smile played on his lips as he admired her.
Sensing him looking at her, Aliyah cleared her throat and asked, "what?"
She shook his head, "nothing other than it's obvious."
"What is obvious?"
"You are happy, Aliyah," he answered and before she could say anything, he added, "happier than I have seen you in three years now."
Aliyah smiled then and bit her lip.
"You don't need to tell me, I mean...how many days has it been? Just three and you are radiating, how much more when you stay for a month or two with him."
"To be honest, I am surprised too. He is totally different from what I thought he would be. It still surprises me how gentle and attentive he can be."
"Gentle?" Sean asked and shook his head before shrugging, "maybe for you. If you leave him, I will be dead in the next second."
Aliyah laughed softly at that and shrugged, "well...you are alive."
"Yeah, by chance."
"Stop that," she exhaled. "You said mom is not fine?"
Sean ran his fingers through his hair. "Nobody is fine Ali, especially with Kevin and his boys missing. Alpha even said he can't feel their links anymore and Elder Maximus left since yesterday and didn't return. Everyone is saying he may have killed Kevin and the rest because Alpha planted them to spy on him. When he left the pack, Kevin has alerted alpha and the last report he made was that they were heading towards the High Howlers mansion, alpha Damien's to be precise."
"Oh my God," Aliyah covered her mouth as she stared at him with wide open eyes, "you don't think he killed them?"
"That's what everyone is saying and Luna has lost it after hearing the news. So," he shrugged, "there is a high chance that the High Howlers would be paying us a visit soon." He turned to her and picked her hands in his, "can you come home Ali, just for a few hours to put your mother at ease."
Aliyah bit her lip as she contemplated. "I don't know if Edward would agree to that and also, if Elder Maximus really went to Alpha Damien, the alpha of alphas, no one knows when they would show up and I don't really want to be there if they do. Besides, I am sure a lot will share Elder Maximus view and would side with him. I mean, I don't even think my father has accepted this relationship."
"I understand. But you are not doing this for your father, Luna has never said a single bad word against this since that night, all she cares about is to see you and make sure you are okay. The Dark prince looked really pissed that night when he took you with him so she doesn't know your fate. The only thing that keeps her calm is the fact alpha said he can still feel your link."
Aliyah nodded, "I will think about it Sean, I don't know..." she sighed, "I will think about it."
"It's okay," Sean smiled, "at least I have seen you and I know that you are okay, better in fact." He exhaled, "I just wish that when this finally get out to the two clans, it won't bring back the great war and everyone would just trust the plan of the moon goddess." He glanced at the stairs and bit his lip, "we saw the rogues at the human woods, what happened?"
"You went there?" Aliyah was shocked.
"Alpha led us there. He is combing the forest and I am sure that sooner than later he would find this palace. Anyways, what happened, they came for you again, right?"
Aliyah nodded. "Edward fought them off but something else happened."
"What?"
"I was abducted by a witch."
"What?"
"Yes. Edward said that means the man is working with witches."
"What man?" Sean frowned.
"The one that is turning the rogues. The one that spoke through one of them that night."
"Wait, Edward knows him?"
"Not personally but he has met him. There is something going on and I have learnt a lot in these few days I have been here. Things are not what we think they are and we got a lot of information wrong."
Sean's frown deepened. "what information?"
"The nightwalkers didn't start the fight, Sean," she smiled sadly, "we did. Or, our ancestors did, Prince David to be precise."
"Prince David?"
Aliyah nodded. "And he did it because of his sister." With that, she proceeded to tell him everything that Irene said. "So you see, Night howlers and Nightwalkers should be together and not just for the peace treaty but totally at peace where we could even make friends with them."
Sean shook his head. "Aliyah, that would only be possible if we survive this war that is brewing. If this really started because of you and him, then it must be up to you to bring the peace and now I see," he nodded, "it all makes sense, why the moon goddess will mate you two."
Aliyah nodded at that, concurring with him.
"But then again Aliyah, it won't just come without a fight."
"I know and I am preparing myself for it."
