Part 27

Third person POV

Mysore - Amar & Richa wedding

Sid was chatting with the team members one by one. He came close to Samy and then went in the opposite direction, totally avoiding her.

Samy also completely ignored him, though one could easily notice that they were aware of each other's presence by their body language.

Samira missed the clue as she was looking at Sid only and hoping he wouldn't recognize her. Sid didn't notice Samira as his concentration was on avoiding Samy.

"So the cold war is still going on between you guys?" Uma questioned Samy, noticing both of them avoiding each other.

"You know Sid? Samira questioned Samy, recovering from the shock of Sid's surprise enterance.

"Ofcourse, she is his boss .. actually was till few weeks back and is going to be his boss again soon." Uma answered as Samy was trying to think hard for an answer. She kind of guessed the thoughts and questions going through Samira's brain.

"Oh! Does Sasi know about this?" She asked Samy again.

Since Uma had no clue what Samira was referring to .. she too looked at Samy for an answer.

"Well .. she is aware that I know Sid, but not as his boss." Samy replied slowly.

"Then as what?" Uma quickly asked, sensing there was some clue there. She always wondered about the relationship between Samy and Sid.

"Its complicated Uma .. I will tell you the story later. Samira, I need to get you to the train Station, lets go." She pulled her towards the exit.

Samy and Samira, picked a cab to the train station.

"How well do you know Sid and why are you fighting? If you don't mind me asking .." Samira asked Samy, holding her arm lightly to make sure she was ok.

"Nothing serious Samira. Why are you asking?"

"Nah .. just curious. Sasi was very guarded around you while talking about Sid."

Samy turned sharply towatds Samira as alarm bells went on in her mind. Before knowing the relationship between Sasi and Sid, she was dying to find out the answer for the same question. She now was coming to peace with the whole breakup thing with Sid, after knowing Sid and Sasi were in some kind of relationship in college.

"I know that Sasi and Sid were in a relationship at college and Sasi didn't want me to know about it .. so she kept it a secret from me." Samy answered looking away from Samira.

"What do you mean by relationship? As far as I am aware they were just friends and I was with Sasi all the time during college days. Sasi would tell me if anything happened between them after college.

"What? Are you sure? I heard your friends talking about Sid and Sasi, at her marriage. I didn't ask her because it wasn't the proper time to ask such questions." Samy replied tightening her grip on Samira's hand.

"Well, that was just a joke. Sasi was crazy about Sid in the college and all our friends knew about it. Sid was senior to us."

"Tell me about them fully Samira." Samy pleaded as her heart started beating wildly.

"Me and Sasi were roommates in college. She was crazy about Sid and followed him everywhere he went. I don't know how many hours we wasted everyday chasing behind him, but always from a safe distance."

They reached the train Station and moved to the platform, waiting for the train to arrive.

Samira started telling again.

"Sid was always surrounded by his own friends, specifically one girl called Mahira Khan. Sasi was very jealous of her as she was always with Sid. I thought Sasi would give up chasing Sid after some time, but she didn't and the chase continued till Sid was in final year. Then at the starting of the year we  went on a college trip with seniors and became close friends with Sid and his group. I told Sasi to confront Sid and declare her love, but she was waiting for a good moment. Then one day the topic of love came and Sid declared that he didn't believe in love."

"Then what happened?" Samy questioned.

"He gave a big lecture on love to Sasi and me, warning to stay away from love and not fall for it. It is all about infatuation and sex - he declared. He told, he was all for arranged marriage and would wait till he was successful in life. Sasi got disappointed and realized Sid was going to reject her. We still were good friends till the day before, Sid passed out of college, but things went bad on the last day."

"What happened on that day?"

"Sasi wanted to talk to Sid and tell him about her love, but Mahira warned her not to and both got into a fight. We had to break them up and cool things down, but it was clear Mahira and Sasi disliked each other. Sasi thought Mahira was in a secret relationship with Sid."

"Was she? What did Sid say about the fight?"

"I don't think so. Sid was clear about his views on love. He valued friendship and was close with everyone. Sasi was jealous because Mahira spent more time with Sid. But they were classmates and in the same year, so it was natural. Sid didn't knew about the fight. We decided not to tell him."

"Then what happened?" Samy asked as they announced the train would be arriving in a few minutes.

"Nothing happened. Sasi was disappointed. She took a vow that she won't allow Sid to marry anyone else."

"What the hell?"

"No, it was a silly vow, she was just angry. Can't believe she is happily married now and Sid is still single."

Samy closed her eyes as she felt someone stabbed her from behind.

"What happened to Mahira?" Samy questioned after recovering from the earlier comment.

"Oh poor Mahira .. she died under mysterious circumstances. Sid was accused initially for her death, but then it was declared suicide."

"What do you think? Did Sid do it? What does Sasi think?"

"No! Sid would never do such a thing. Even Sasi who hated Mahira, felt very bad for her after hearing the news. She was very positive that Sid was innocent and was willing to fight for him. We offered our affidavits to cops about Sid's behavior and goodness. I think he was setup by someone."

Just then the train arrived and Samira got in.

"I still don't understand why Sasi didn't want to talk about Sid in front of you?" Sasi asked with a puzzled expression as the train started leaving the station.

"Because he was my fiance  ..." Samy answered waving her hand, as the train rolling forward.

Samy couldn't hear what Samira said, but could see the shock on her face as the train moved away from her.

Samy spent rest of the day in a trance. She couldn't believe, Sasi, her own cousin, sabotaged her marriage with Sid and sowed all these doubts about Sid's fidelity.

"How did I fall for this and destroyed my life?" She kept on repeating in her brain , watching Sid from a distance.

After dinner everyone ended up in the downstairs bar to celebrate the occasion. However Sid didn't come as he had some pending office work and went back to his room to work on his laptop.

Samy couldn't enjoy the time with her friends. After downing couple of wine glasses, she got up.

"Guys, I am very tired. I am going back to my room to get some rest." She declared holding her head. She was indeed tired with all the thoughts about Sid, pounding inside her head.

"Take care Samy", her friends shouted, staying behind to enjoy the rest of the night.

Samy decided to take the steps to make sure she wasn't drunk enough and fully in control of herself.

She climbed the stairs slowly reaching the fourth floor entry door. Her room was in the middle of the corridor between the staircase and elevator.

She was about to open the door when she heard voices in the corridor. She opened the door slowly and peeked through the opening.

"Hey, go and check the bar downstairs. I will wait here. She eventually has to return to her room." Vali was shouting at his associate, standing right in front of her door.

Samy felt something hard in her throat as she tried to breathe hard. She realized the guy wanted revenge for slapping him at the train Station.

She slowly backed down the stairs and started thinking hard about the next course of action, when she realized she had already entered the third floor and was standing right in front of Sid's room.

"Samy, take advantage of the situation  .. this is your only chance." Her inner voice begged her.

She thought for a second and decided to act on her inner voice.

Acting drunk she knocked on his door hard. She kept on knocking, till she heard the sound of someone grunting and turning the bolt from inside.

Sid opened the door partially and peeked outside, mad at the disturbance. He was in the midst of writing code and hated being disturbed.

"What the heck ..What do you want ..?" His voice trailed watching Samy leaning seductively on the door.

Samy's heart rate doubled watching a shirtless Sid standing in front of her angry and confused.

She bent close to him, blowing her breath into his face, to make sure he understood her situation. She then put her hand on his bare chest and pushed him back.

"Shit! You are drunk!"
