Sixteen
Location: Cheongdam-dong Columbarium, Seoul
Time: 8:24 am
Jimin went out of his car, eyes hooded and heavy under his wide rimmed sunglasses.
He heaved a deep sigh, trying to control the tears that threaten to trickle down his cheeks as he crossed the street.
The blonde saw a lot of people entering the columbarium of the Kim family, all wearing black suits and dresses, adding a gloomy feeling in the already dull atmosphere surrounding the place.
Jimin felt suffocated, his legs seemingly losing all energy as he takes few more steps inside. He caught sight of Jin, standing near the altar, face looking so stressed just like his.
He went nearer, tapping his shoulder a little to tear his attention from the jar placed in the middle of the altar.
"Hey." Jin murmured, forcing a smile towards Jimin who cleared his throat to prevent his voice from breaking.
"Hey." Jimin responded, looking down on the ground as tears finally fall down from his eyes. He adjusted his glasses as he wipes the tears that were able to escape his swollen eyes.
The blonde sniffed, looking at the urn placed in the middle of the altar, where flowers with purple and green petals surround it beautifully.
He mindlessly grips Jin's arm for support as waves of emotion surge through his whole being like a storm, knowing fully well whose ashes were inside that urn.
Jimin sobbed, unable to held his tears back. He had been crying and mourning for the past few days after receiving the result from the officer in charge of Taehyung's case.
But up until now, his heart could not bear the pain that pierces through his heart at the thought of his best friend, his soulmate, to be dead.
The blonde choked on his sobs as Jin turned to his way and hugged him so tight.
"Hush now. Taehyung won't be happy to see you like this, Chim." Jin whispered, voice cracking as he tries to hold his own tears back.
The blonde nodded his head vigorously, wiping his tears that flow nonstop. He settled his head on the older's chest, both of them now crying against each other's arms.
More people came by, showing their respect and support to the bereaved relatives.
Jin caught sight of officer Namjoon in black suit together with Hoseok and other officers who came to show their utmost support to them.
Officer Namjoon came to their side, bowing a little and muttering his deepest condolences to Jin.
"Our team wants to extend our sincerest condolences to you and your family, Mr. Kim. We're sorry for your loss."
Jin nodded his head, eyes glistening with tears and in the softest voice muttered, "Thank you, officer."
Jimin throws a glance in the officer's side, bowing his head a little to convey his gratitude.
Taehyung's death came by as a shock and a heartbreak. Deep in their hearts, they have prayed for his safety, regardless of how impossible it might seem.
They thought the police could save him, bring him back alive in their arms where he's rightful to be. But they were wrong.
Even though the police did their best in tracking down the killer, they weren't able to prevent the inevitable from happening.
Taehyung died, and all they could do is to accept that fact, treasure the memories they have with him, and avenge his death by finding the killer at all cost.
Jimin felt the determination to do so. His swollen eyes settled on Taehyung's urn, his rage for whoever did this to his best friend surges.
Jimin will find him and avenge Taehyung's death. He will make sure the killer will be punished, if not by law then by him.
------
Jungkook stared at the entrance of the columbarium where a lot of people came passing by.
He had been observing the people from afar with blank eyes and void expression.
The ravenette sighed, feeling a sudden lump on his throat as he gives the place one more look before starting the engine and driving away.
As he takes the road leading to his hideout, his thoughts came down to all the things he had to do, and somehow he felt regret, a feeling he never thought he'd be able to feel in his line of work.
Did he fuck up this time? Are all his actions and decisions worthy of the things that are yet to come?
The ravenette doesn't know anymore.
He took a turn in the corner, mind still bugged by uncertainties when his partner's voice erupted from his earpiece.
"JK." Yoongi said on the other line.
"What is it hyung?" the killer responded, eyes not leaving the road.
There was a moment of silence before Yoongi speaks again. "I have received a mail from the client."
Jungkook isn't surprised anymore. The news regarding the doctor's death has spread like a wildfire. It was even telecast.
"The client was pleased by your work JK and sent the promised money for a job well done."
Jungkook felt a tugging on his chest but ignored it otherwise.
"By the way Jungkook, are you sure about what you said to me yesterday?" Yoongi asked, waiting for the younger to change his mind.
The ravenette mindlessly nodded his head as if Yoongi is in front of him to see his response. "I'm not taking back what I said hyung. I really want to have a break from....this." He muttered in a serious voice.
Yoongi sighed in defeat. "If that's what you want, then there's really nothing I could do."
Jungkook smiled a little at the older's resigned voice. "Thanks hyung and sorry."
"You better be. You owe me a lot Jungkook." Yoongi said in a teasing voice.
The ravenette smiled at this. "I know hyung. I know."
The killer waited for Yoongi to cut the line, but was met by another question from the other.
"What would you be doing during your break?" Yoongi asked.
Jungkook thinks for a second before responding. "I still don't know hyung. God! I'm regretting everything now."
Yoongi chuckled. "There's nothing you could do now but move forward."
"I know hyung." Jungkook mumbles, head aching from too much thinking. "Hey, I think I need a drink. Let me crash your place hyung."
"Sure. I also need a drink or two. Come here. Buy drinks and food on your way. I'm only providing the place but the rest is on you." Yoongi finally cut the line, leaving Jungkook grinning.
The ravenette turned his car around. He doesn't want to go home yet. He needs a diversion from all the things in his head.
And alcohol is always the answer.
He steps on the gas, speeding up to reach the nearest convenience store. As soon as he reached the store, he parked his car, turning off the engine before quickly going out.
Jungkook is in his casual clothes, avoiding suspicions and standing out in the crowd. He pulled his hoodie over his head as he scans the stall for chips and other food he could share with Yoongi.
He was now busy taking out the drinks when he heard the familiar news on the tv at the counter.
Jungkook quickly took a lot of alcohol before going to the counter. His eyes immediately landed on the tv screen as the cashier started punching out the items.
Flashed on screen is the interview of the police officers in charge of Kim Taehyung's case, and judging from their outfits, Jungkook could easily tell that it's shot earlier in the columbarium.
"Our team are still looking for clues that will lead us to the one behind this murder case. Rest assured that we won't stop until we find the culprit responsible for Mr. Kim Taehyung's death." Officer Namjoon stated, determination vivid on his handsome face.
Jungkook almost smirked at this. He quickly turned his head away from the screen before mindlessly muttering. "Yeah right."
The cashier turned her face to him. "Yes sir?" She asked.
Jungkook shakes his head. "Oh nothing. How much?" He asked, flashing his smile that made the cashier blush.
The ravenette quickly paid for everything he bought before going back to his car and driving away going to Yoongi's house.
It only took him more than half an hour or so, going to where Yoongi lives. He was welcomed by a pale looking man, his usual bored face and his ash gray hair.
"Hey." Jungkook greeted, letting himself enter his partner's house, not so huge, but enough for a single man like Yoongi.
"Did you buy our drinks and food? I'm telling you I don't have anything to feed you here." Yoongi lazily sat on his couch, his eyes instantly closing.
"Yeah. I know." Jungkook responded, going all the way to his friend's fridge. He opened it up, no longer surprise to see three bottled waters and nothing more.
"As expected." Jungkook mumbles, placing some of the alcohol he bought inside. He went to the bin and dropped the plastic bag inside before heading back to the living room with five bottles in hand.
"Are you even eating hyung? There's nothing inside your fridge." Jungkook commented, finding his place on a nearby couch. He placed the four bottles of alcohol on the table, Yoongi taking one immediately.
Yoongi grinned. "There's a thing called delivery, Jungkook."
Jungkook laughed at this. "Yeah. Same goes for me." He muttered, taking a huge gulp from his own bottle.
It's still early and they are already drinking away.
Both of them have been living alone for as long as they could remember. They don't have anyone to take care of them, cook meals or even attend to their needs when they're sick.
They have survived alone, and it has always been that way.
"Say, hyung. What are you planning to do now that we're taking a break?" Jungkook asked.
Yoongi rolled his eyes. "Correction, forced to take a break because of you."
Jungkook laughed at this. "Whatever." He mumbles, waiting for the older to continue.
"Anyway, I'll probably go back to my previous work, you know, making software and all." Yoongi answered.
Jungkook smiled at this, which made the older roll his eyes.
"Don't laugh at me you bitch. I need to earn money to live. This is fucking your fault." Yoongi rolled his eyes even more.
"Hyung, you have saved a lot of money. You won't be needing to work for years and it will still be plenty." Jungkook argued back.
Yoongi grinned at this. "Jungkook, that's why you save money because it's intended for something. I don't want to use my savings. I already have something in mind where I could use that for."
"What is it?" Jungkook inquired, only to receive a dirty finger from the older.
"I'm not telling you bitch." Yoongi smirked, drinking the beer in half.
Jungkook shakes his head, shifting on his seat to find a comfortable position. He saw from his peripheral vision that the older is looking intently at him.
"Jungkook." Yoongi called out. "How long are you planning to be on your so called break?"
The ravenette just shrugs his shoulders. "I'm still uncertain hyung. This last case... has took a toll on me."
Yoongi sips on his drink. "Yeah. I never thought you would--"
"I know hyung." Jungkook cuts him off, letting himself get drunk by gulping down his drink.
He wants to be wasted, so he could finally knock some sense out of his head.
The two silently drink, allowing themselves to get swamp up by the pool of alcohol until both of them passed out in the living room.
--------
The morning comes, Jungkook waking up with a hang over, his head feels like it's about to split in half.
He saw Yoongi still wasted and asleep on the opposite couch, bottles of alcohol and chips scattered on the floor.
The ravenette groaned, standing up and going straight to the kitchen to drink some water. He opened the fridge, finding relief to find the bottles of water still inside.
He took one, opening the lid in a snap and emptying it up in one go. He felt refreshed and a bit sated as he went back to the living room.
He picked out the bottles and cleaned the place before deciding to head back to his own house.
Jungkook didn't wake up Yoongi, and just left a note saying he already went out.
He took his car and drove away from his partner's house, taking the road going to his own hideout.
He doesn't call it home, because it had never felt like home.
It's just a place where he stays and lives alone, a hideout for a killer like him.
It was a long drive, but he didn't mind because he was able to clear his thoughts on the way.
Jungkook finally arrived at his hideout, parking his car inside his garage. He slowly went out, keys clinking as he takes a step near the door.
He slowly inserted the key, turning the knob around until it bursted open. Jungkook felt so tired as he entered. He quickly closed the door behind, locking it up again before heading to his room.
The ravenette took a step inside his room, eyes settling on the bed.
He sighed, regretting his life decisions even more.
Because on top of his bed, sleeping peacefully is no other than the doctor.
Kim Taehyung.

A bit long chapter to say sorry for not updating as often as I did before.
I'm having a hard time writing again after I finished Mateless Alpha. It's like I felt tired, because I have put all my energy in that particular book.
And I'm so happy for the positive response I got from it. Thank you.
Now, I'm trying to get back on writing this and my other fics. Hopefully I'll be able to update as often.
Hope my mind cooperates.
Love you 💜
