Chapter Twenty-Five
Surprise Roommates Part One. {Girls' Dorm}
Aliya planned to pick up Matthew, his mother and his sister to drive to the university as it was convenient for them to go together in the same car.
Red would be arriving with her parents at the university as she wanted to spend time with them before leaving for almost three years.
While Zayd would be driving with Matthew and Aliya's luggage and his.
"Aliya how many suitcases do you have?" He asked, helping the driver load their suitcases in his car.
"Hey, don't judge. Plus some of them are books and Mamma's diaries," Aliya said smiling. "My bags aren't heavier than yours," she added folding her arms on her chest while glaring at her cousin.
"Fine, you don't need to be a meanie about it..."
"I know but be careful with carrying them and if you drop them, I will tell Red about what you did."
Aryan just shook his head at the two cousins knowing that they would always take care of them at the university.
Meanwhile, Zayd was adamant about needing a DNA test to make sure that Aliya was his daughter and not what Rukiya had been telling him.
"How should I do it? Should I steal a lock of hair from the hairbrush she has been using for her hair?" He asked the person on the other end of the call.
Alina was almost on her way to the university but in her mind, she wanted to have her parents with her. In her heart, she knew that her mother only wanted one thing from her and that was revenge against someone innocent.
Alina didnt know the entire story of what happened between her mother and Aliya's. All she knew was her mother's hatred for Farha but she didn't know why there was so much hatred.
"Are you okay, my dear?" The driver asked when he saw tears falling from Alina's face. "I know that I might be just the driver but you can talk to me about anything and I promise to give you the advice you will need," he added, smiling.
Alina looked at her driver and smiled. Even though she was raised by a nanny, Alina had a love for her and the driver.
"I don't know where to start, Uncle. The fact that my parents couldn't care less about coming with me to register for my first day of university and to find with dorm I am in. I wish they would give me a small amount of affection or even attention," Alina said, wiping her tears. "You know what Uncle? I kinda feel envious of my sister Aliya because of the love she has been getting from Nanny Lea, her uncle Aryan and her best friends and cousins," she added, smiling sadly.
"My child, I know that your parents arent reliable but they do love you in their own way. And as for them coming to take to your first day, I don't know what to say to that. But I promise you that I will be there with you all through it," the driver said, smiling.
In about half an hour, they arrived at Shehzada University along with Aliya and her group. As Alina got out of the car, her eyes met with Aliya's.
Before Alina could smile, her sister looked away making her feel sad.
"Don't worry, my child. Make these 3-4 years a reconciliation between you and your sister. And also make amends with your friends too," the driver advised her.
"I will and thank you, Uncle."
Alina walked with her driver to the registration booth and took the documentation for housing and classes she needed to take for the first semester.
"Okay, Uncle. We need to go to Block C. That's where my dorm is located, " Alina explained, looking at the paper in her hand. "Give me the two bags. I can carry them, while you carry the other two bags, " she added, taking the bags before the driver could say no.
Meanwhile, Matthew watched as Alina walked toward Block C. He wished that things were different between them but when Rukiya wanted them to stay away from each other, she did the impossible to do it.
"I know what you are thinking, Matt. But remember that this is an opportunity for you and her to talk to her and clear your differences..."
"Okay, I will do it but if you talk to Hamza and tell him the truth..."
"I am sorry but that's kind of impossible for me because as you didn't notice is that Alina is his girlfriend even though, it is haram," Aliya explained to him. "I can see the look on your face, don't you dare. Leave the things the way they are," she added, leaving him with more questions.
Matthew wanted to do more for her but he also knew that he didn't want going against her. He looked at Zayn for help but all he got was a shrug.
"Why cant she just talk to him?" Matthew asked Zayn.
"Because they have been childhood best friends. They met when she was about 4-5 years old. We all thought that their friendship would mature and eventually develop into something more in future. But then he transferred to the same school. You know the rest," Zayn explained. "He hurt her more than anyone else in her life. She thought that he would believe that everything Alina said was a lie but..."
"He believed Alina and the fake evidence," Matthew added.
"Yes," Zayn nodded.
As Aliya got her dorm number, the boys helped her with her bags and Red's bags too.
Fortunately, Red arrived five minutes after Aliya did. With luck on their side, the two girls were on the same Block C.
"What did you guys put in these bags?" Zayn asked, complaining about Red's bag.
Red turned to face him, glaring but before she could say anything, Zayn smiled.
"I thought I was carrying..."
Matthew couldn't help but laugh at him.
"You do know that this buildings have elevators, right?" Matthew asked as he pressed the button.
"Alhamdulillah, I thought I was going to carry these bags all the three levels..."
Zayn couldn't even finish what he was saying when someone slapped him on the back of his head making him turn to see his father glaring.
"Dad..."
"Nice try but I heard everything. How could you say that about my future daughter-in-law?" He asked trying to stop smiling and then turned to face Red. " I am sorry that my son is dumb if you don't want to contiue the relationship. I will understand, " he added.
"Dad, come on. Muskaan and I are..."
"We are friends. Now can we get to our dorm, so that we need to rest for tomorrow," Red said.
They all went into the elevator while Aryan watched how his son was trying to get Red to look at him. The girls' dorm was on the third level.
"We are here, are you ready to find out who our third roommate is?" Red asks her friend.
"I hope that she is bad," Aliya answered.
Bismillah.
Aliya took her key and opened the door to find that their third roommate was already there as they could hear two people talking inside one of the rooms.
Thankfully, both the girls' and boys' dorms have three rooms each had their bathroom and could be mistaken as an apartment.
"You must be my roommates..."
A voice said walking out of the room they were in. She couldn't even finish her sentence when their eyes met.
"Alina."
"Aliya".
The three girls were shocked to see who their third roommate was but it was better than someone they didnt know. But for Aliya, she will always keep her guard up especially when Alina has always followed what her mother has always told her.
"Asalam Aleikum, I didn't know that we were going to be roommates. I will go and ask to be exchange to a different room..."
"There's no need for that. And waleikum salaam. You can stay, Alina," Aliya said, surprising everyone in the room.
Never get used by someone to ruin another person's life just because their life is miserable. Be your person, and know if what you are told to do is right or wrong. Don't be a puppet to people who will just use you, even if they are your family. Family isn't always about blood or how long you have known the person but it is about the connection you have with a stranger.
