Chapter Three.
Two Months Later
Aliya's birth and her mother's death
Rukiya didn't stop taunting and hurting Farha every chance she got. She would make her do chores like mopping the floor even if another maid was doing them.
I will make your life and the life of that baby miserable. And that's a promise to you.
Farha did whatever Rukiya wanted because even if she tried to speak against her, she would get in trouble instead of Rukiya.
She believed that one day all of this would end and happiness would come back to her. But she was wrong, and she was about to find out why.
It was a normal day. Farha was told by Rukiya to go upstairs because she wanted to talk to her. But her Nanny tried to talk her out of going because she had been forbidden to go inside the house ever since Rukiya had arrived.
"Nanny, you know that if I don't, she will make trouble for me through Zayd. And I don't want that anymore. I will be fine, in shaa Allah," Farha tries to assure her nanny, who had a feeling that something bad was about to happen.
She watched as Farha walked up the stairs to go and see Rukiya. Nanny Lea wanted to make sure that Farha was safe before she went back to work.
Meanwhile, Rukiya was patiently waiting for Farha so that she could execute her plan.
This has to work. And then Zayd will throw her out of the house. And everything will be done just as I had planned.
"You are here; I have a proposal for you. Leave this house with that thing inside you and never come back", Rukiya tells her. "Here, take this and leave before my husband comes back," she added, handing her a thick envelope that was filled with money.
"Are you scared of me? Why? I have not been the mistress of this house since the day you came. And I would leave this house; it is Zayd's choice and not yours. Besides, I think we both know who is after his money, right?" Farha tells her. "Tell your husband to let me go, and then I will leave," she added, walking out of the room.
Rukiya quickly got up and walked out with her. She grabbed her hand and pushed her down the stairs.
Farha tried to hold on, but she couldn't as Rukiya pushed her again, this time making her fall on her stomach.
"Ya Allah, please don't let anything happen to my baby," Farha said, praying and crying.
As soon as Nanny saw everything, she quickly rushed to Farha's side and called one of the drivers to take her to the hospital as she was bleeding.
Nanny Lea looked at the top of the stairs to see Rukiya smirking, thinking that she had won.
"Nanny, I don't want to lose my baby. If anything happens, please save her and always protect her from anyone. Promise me, Nanny," Farha asks her Nanny while they are in the car on their way to the hospital.
"You will be here with her, my dear. I do promise to always protect her as my granddaughter," Nanny says to her, and then she turns to face the driver to ask him to hurry up as Farha is beginning to lose consciousness.
As soon as they reached the hospital, Farha was wheeled to the operating room while Nanny called Aryan.
She told him everything that she had witnessed and about what had been happening for the past few months.
"Why didn't she want to let me help her, Nanny? She could have come to me."
"You know how stubborn she is. She would rather do things herself than ask for anyone's help. And now that Rukiya has done what she wanted, I don't know what will happen to my girl".
Aryan knew what he needed to do, but not now, but at the right time. He needed to act rationally and without anger, even though he knew that Zayd wouldn't consider the baby his own because of the accusations that Rukiya had been making against him.
But they were interrupted by a nurse.
"Excuse me, are you Farha's family?" the nurse asks Nanny.
"Yes, I am her grandmother. What's wrong?".
"She is calling you before we take her to the operating room. And you need to come with me as she is losing a lot of blood, as it isn't good for her baby," the nurse explained to Nanny Lea, who rushed to be by Farha's side.
As soon as Nanny walked into the room, Farha smiled, knowing that her daughter would be in the best hands.
The woman who cared for her ever since she was a toddler
"I want to tell you to always look after her. Be her guardian, her mother, and her friend. I know that I don't have much time left on this earth. Thank you for being the best Nanny that I could ever ask for. I love you so much. But now, they need to take me and save my daughter," Farha tells her, tears falling down her face.
"Don't say that. You will survive this, and you will raise her."
"We have to accept it, Nanny...."
They were interrupted by the doctor, who came in to tell them that it was time to get her into the operating room before she lost her baby.
Nanny Lea watched as they took her into the operating room. She wondered what would have happened if Farha had listened to her.
Meanwhile, Rukiya waited patiently for the good news of Farha and her baby's death.
She had someone follow them to the hospital, and he reported what he found out.
Why did that old woman have to be there? My plan would have worked perfectly if it weren't for that meddling old woman. But I will get what I want soon. Very soon.
In the hospital, Nanny didn't stop praying for Farha and her baby. She believed that they would be fine and healthy.
But what she didn't know was that Farha's body was already giving up as the damage was severe. Thankfully, the doctors delivered her healthy baby girl, but Farha wasn't responding to the CPR.
"Time of death, 12:30 pm," one of the doctors said while covering Farha's body with a bed sheet.
She was so young. I pray that her daughter will be well taken care of and loved.
The doctor walked out of the operating room and looked at the old woman who came in front of him.
He didn't know what to say to her when he told her about Farha's death and her daughter's birth.
"I am sorry to inform you that your granddaughter died...."
Nanny Lea couldn't believe it. She closed her eyes, hoping that this was just a nightmare and that she could wake up and find Farha smiling at her.
"And her daughter?"
The doctor told her that she was in an incubator because her lungs weren't fully developed.
"I am sorry for your loss".
Nanny Lea shook the doctor's hand and asked her if she wanted to see the baby.
"Can I see Farha first?", she asks him.
"This way, please," he says, leading her to where Farha's body was. "Take your time," he added, leaving her at the door.
Nanny walked in, and her tears started falling without restrictions. Farha became her daughter, her companion, and her family.
She sat with her and kissed her forehead. Nanny then walked out of the room to go and see Aliya, who was in the incubator.
Nanny wanted to call Zayd, but she knew that he wouldn't come because he believed that Aliya wasn't his daughter.
There she was in the incubator. Her head was filled with hair, and she was small.
"You look just like your mother, Aliya. She was the best person that I have ever known. She was selfless, kind, and most importantly, she didn't care about what people said about her when she was helping the poor," Nanny says to Aliya. "She would have been the best mother, but someone got too jealous of her. And now, you have no mother", she added, wiping her tears.
At the receptionist, Zayd arrived, and he was asking about Farha when a doctor explained to him what happened to her.
"And the baby? Can you do a DNA test to confirm if I am the father?" Zayd asks the doctor.
The doctor couldn't believe what he was hearing from this man. His wife had just died and had a daughter. He is wondering if his daughter is
"I am sorry, but I can't do that, especially when the baby is in an incubator," Dr. Azlan politely refused him.
"Fine then. Someone else will pay for her bills because I am not using a single cent on her until I know if she is my daughter or not," Zayd says, walking out of the hospital.
What's happening to people these days? Instead of mourning his wife, he wants a DNA test done on a newborn baby.
Zayd didn't know that someone had already paid for everything, including the planning of Farha's funeral. Because Rukiya made sure that he wouldn't pay for anything that dealt with Farha and her daughter Aliya,
The only thing that Nanny had to worry about was keeping Aliya away from Rukiya, as she might harm her.
I promise your mother that I will keep you safe, and I intend to keep my promise.
Protecting you will be my top priority.
My angel Aliya
