Chapter Thirty-Four
"You are too blind to what is right in front of you, Hamza."
Sometimes blind people can see better than people who aren't blind. And deaf people can understand you better than people who can hear. Why? It takes understanding to know what someone needs from you.
It has been almost two weeks since Aliya started working for Hamza. He didnt care about the timings that he would call her to come to the office just to give her the same task repeatedly.
But all Aliya wanted was to clear her name as it was also affecting her health especially when the doctor told her that she needed to rest her leg when she went for her last check-up.
But how could she, when all Aliya does is work, work and work just because Hamza believes lies from Rukiya?
Nanny Lea wanted to talk with Hamza but Aliya was against it as she didn't want to make things worse than they were.
"Nanny, I am fine. I promise you. I have been taking the meds and taking care of myself..."
"I don't want to say anything but I dont think so, Habibty. The doctor did say that your leg bones are healing slower than they are supposed to. I thought you two worked out your differences but I was wrong," Nanny explains to Aliya as she moves closer to her. "I am worried because whatever he is doing to you and him isn't healthy. It is hurting the both of you..."
"Nanny, I get it. But what can we do when he has already made up his mind about the accident that happened? I know that deep in my heart that someone is hiding something and that person might be Rukiya," Aliya said, surprising Nanny Lea. "I don't know how to prove it but she might have something to do with the policeman that a was at the scene. How could someone just vanish?" She asked.
"Aliya, stop talking about that and get some sleep. But first you need to eat your dinner and take your meds," Nanny said, getting up and going to get Aliya's dinner.
This became a normal routine for them especially when Hamza would call her early in the morning for something useless for the company.
"Here, eat and then takyour meds," Nanny said as she returned with a plate of food in her hands. She then placed it on the bedside table along with Aliya's meds.
Meanwhile, Hamza's cousin was trying to get him to understand that something was wrong especially when Rukiya buried her daughter without her family being there or even him.
"Hamza, I know that you have anger in your heart and you do deserve to be angry but remember that you must have a reason to be angry. I have met Aliya many times and let me tell you she isnt what you potray her to be. A villian," Maya said.
"Maya, I dont know what else to do especially when I was planning on proposing to Alina before everything happened. And all the evidence points to one person alone and that is Aliya..."
"Are you sure you have the evidence that you collected yourself or did someone put your mind to it?" Maya asked, knowing how manipulative Rukiya was.
She and Jade have met Rukiya and they know that she is lying about a few things but without evidence, their cousin wouldn't accept the truth about her.
"What are you implying Maya?" Hamza asked.
"Sometimes you need more than eyes to see what is right in front of you, Hamza. And all I am saying is that before you hurt Aliya, you should investigate more. The best advice I could give you, is that dont let anyone influence what you see, hear and understand about a person. They might be innocent," Maya explained to her cousin.
But they didn't know that someone was listening to their conversation and smiled knowing that soon everything would come to light.
I didn't have to do anything for now. But when the time comes, I will need to interfere in her plans. Aliya doesn't deserve what is happening to her just because of her sister.
Hamza knew his cousin was right but he couldn't help but feel the need to get his revenge against Aliya with Rukiya's help even though he knew that burying Alina was suspicious especially when Hamza was told that she was buried the next day after her supposed death.
One day Aliya told him; "When the truth will hit you, you will be shocked to know how blind and deaf you are. You are too blind to see what is right in front of you, Hamza."
