Chapter Two.

Ayat Said.

Family means the world to anyone who doesn't have a family. That's the luxury of some people. Having a family.

Ayat Said is a young Muslim girl who lost her parents in a car crash killing them instantly and leaving her with her uncle and aunt.

She was a bubbly and caring child. Ayat was only 5 years old when they died and had no one to take her except her father's older brother and his wife.

Jamil and Husna didn't have any kids of their own. When his brother died, he didn't want Ayat to go to some people she didn't know.

Everyone has a dream to be someone in the future. To have a career and get married and have a family. Ayat always wanted this in her life but couldn't afford anything luxurious as her uncle and aunt didn't have a job.

Their source of income was selling rice flour to the bakery. They were thankful to the owner who helped them a lot. And Ayat worked at the campus library which helped them with grocery shopping.

Thankfully that she had gotten a scholarship to study at a prestigious university and had a job at the campus library that helped with her daily expenses.

"Ayat, what time will you be back from your classes?", her aunt asks.

"I will be home at around four-thirty, why?".

"I have to make a delivery at the bakery downtown. They need the rice flour I make for them. And they need it today..."

"I will take it after school, don't worry aunt".

Her aunt thanked her and packed the rice flour so she could give it to her niece.

Ayat started parking to get to class she didn't want to be late and get scolded by the professor. Even though she is a bright student, Ayat didn't want to be treated differently by her professors.

"Okay, aunt you should try and get some rest and please take your medication on time", she tells her.

She went to say bye to her uncle who was reading the Quran.

"Uncle, it is time for me to go to university. I will be back at around four-thirty", she explains to him.

Jamil raised his head to look at his niece.

"Okay but always remember to be safe and make sure to do well in your exams. May Allah blesses you, my dear niece".

"Shukran Uncle and thank you".

Ayat gathered her bag and walked out of the house. She walked towards the bus stop hoping to catch the early bus and not the late one.

She quickly said a little prayer and sat down on the bench. In what seemed like a few minutes the bus stopped and she got in.

"Asalam aleikum, Ayat. How are you today?", the bus driver asks her. Issa knew her ever from the day he saved her from being mugged.

He treated her like his own daughter.

"Waleikum salaam. I am fine alhamdullilah and you?".

"I am okay, here I think you might find what you are looking for here", he tells her giving her a newspaper.

"Shukran and yes it will", she replied when she saw the ad placed that a secretary was needed.

Ayat did the secretarial courses and business administration so this job wouldn't be hard.

"I appreciate it. Shurkan Uncle Issa".

"You are most welcome, my child".

It was almost time to reach her university. She wanted to return the newspaper but Issa told her to keep it.

"Okay, I will see you later or tomorrow. Take care, and may Allah bless you".

Ayat got off the bus and walked to the university entrance. She felt happy that she got the newspaper and that she has a chance to apply for the job.

She quickly went to the library to use their computers to send her CV and her identification to the company.

Thankfully there were not a lot of people there in the library.

"Morning, Ms. Grace. How are you?", she greeted the librarian.

Grace helped her when she needed it and was thankful for that.

"Morning Ayat. I am good. You aren't supposed to work", Ms. Grace playfully scolded her.

Grace and Ayat have known each other ever since Ayat joined the university when she needed money for her personal needs and didn't want to bother her aunt and uncle.

"I know that but I just need to use the computers. I will be sending my resume to this company", She explained showing her the ad.

"Well, my dear. I wish you all the best ".

Ayat thanked her and switched on one of the computers and logged in through her email sending her resume to the email provided.

In shaa Allah I will get the job. Positive thoughts only.

Being positive goes a long way. Your day can start with just a smile on your face and be positive that everything will go well on that day.
